Back to CL acton for the tie (most) of us dreaded.
Don't know how we'll cope as we'll be missing Thiago, VB, Abate and probably Robinho

I won't say it's impossible to beat them; someone has too. But man, that would really be sweet.

QUOTE (Fillipo Simone @ Mar 25 2012, 10:02 AM) I won't say it's impossible to beat them; someone has too. But man, that would really be sweet. Nothing is impossible but with the injuries we have we cannot even say that we're going out there in the best possible condition. Something tells me that we'll be seeing something similar to the Roma game. Allegri won't go gung-ho in the San Siro seein as it's the first leg. We'll most likely sit deep and punt it up at Ibra hoping to catch out their height challenged players

QUOTE (X-Offender @ Mar 25 2012, 02:13 PM) That's the clever way to go. Press them in midfield and hit them on the counter. If we try to face them wide open, like we did in the second leg of the group stage, we'll be fish food before we know it. Agreed. I'd still like to see us going with a 3 man back line. Ambro is a huge headache in that center and he will cost us. Putting in another CB and an extra mid to cover the defence and centre midfield should be the way to go imo. Bonera--Nesta--Mexes Nocerino--Aqui--Ambro--Urby Prince Ibra--Robs/El Shaa

QUOTE (X-Offender @ Mar 25 2012, 02:26 PM) I just hope Seedorf and Zambro are nowhere near the pitch. tbh, Ambro worries me more than Seedorf, at least Seedorf knows how to keep the ball, even if that means passing it to the keeper a million times over. Ambro just does stupid sh!t with it. Case in point yesterday

Considering latest injuries and performances, our formation would like this, as Urby played perfectly in traquertista role, and Allegri's recent comments on Urby, I guess Urby will start the match against barca (considering that he is good at defending) but he would look better in midfield rather than in traquertista's role when Prince is in his good game. Bonera - Nesta - Mexes - Antonini Prince/Urby - Ambro - Nocerino Urby/Prince Ibra - Binho

Robinho is a lot better at over all build-up play plus him and Zlatan work a lot better together than Zlatan and El Shaa do

QUOTE (X-Offender @ Mar 26 2012, 05:11 PM) Well, El Shaarawy never passes the ball, and Ibra has been rather individualist lately. There were plenty of moments against Roma when they tried the individual solution rather than playing ball to their teammates. Agreed, El Shaa needs to be more aware of the situation around him

Oh my, Ambro and Seedorf in the center! WTF is Allegri thinking??!! He must have hit his head or come down with a fever FFS because this cannot be a coherent decision!!

And it must be so too. (IMG: style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) We should try and get as many minutes as we can from Aquilani, and if Seedorf has to play, it should be in the last 30 minutes or less. Even then, we will need fresh legs to cover and protect him. Sure it all depends on how the match is going by then, but if we need to hold the ball then the Dutchman gets a shot. But to expect him to mount attacks, and match Barcelona from the word go, is, well, let's just leave it that.

QUOTE (William405 @ Mar 27 2012, 05:08 PM) Allegri said that we will play offensive(attack)Yes,Seedorf is a good option for holding down play etc...but like said before barca will have the ball most of the time,as well as Barca's midfield will eat him up.We always hope to expect that magical performance from a legend, but we should use him for the last 20-30min,kinda like wenger used Henry. Exactly. Seedorf is 36. Even if he was in perfect condition, he would never sustain 90 minutes of high intensity football. Not to mention that he has not the characteristics suitable for such a game. Please god, change Allegri's mind!

QUOTE (X-Offender @ Mar 27 2012, 08:03 PM) Every article so far has been saying Seedorf. That's a major bummer, then. (IMG: style_emoticons/default/ohmy.gif) No chance in a years Seedorf should be there. If the sticky midfield of Barcelona target him personally, then we can be in big trouble. We'll probably have to sacrifice Nocerino to cover for Seedorf, and Boateng to battle alone with help. Dear, dear. QUOTE (il_diavolo_mtl @ Mar 27 2012, 08:29 PM) I'm hoping it's a smokescreen for Aquilani. I think we will play long balls against them and Aquilani is imperative for such a tactic. I can only hope you are right, that's what I'm telling myself. (IMG: style_emoticons/default/dry.gif) Not playing Aquilani would hurt us.

QUOTE (kurtsimonw @ Mar 27 2012, 07:26 AM) Won't be a popular decision, but of the 3 I'd go Urby. He's the best runner of the 3 and that's what you need against Barca. Aqui and Seedorf are far better on the ball, but how often are they really going to have it? I tend to agree with that. Pressuring Barca and keeping tight in both midfield and defence is the number one priority. Seedorf and Aqui will simply not work hard enough

QUOTE (X-Offender @ Mar 27 2012, 09:33 PM) Aquilani is your answer. He's not slow, he can press and play ball. In other words, the perfect choice against Barça. Agreed. (IMG: style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) Since he's not played for a while, it seems a lot of us here are forgetting his capabilities. He can take care of himself, while pressing the opposition, and more importantly create chances and scoring opportunities. A rich man's Emanuelson, though he's got a lower watt battery, but that's okay. Like I said, a lot will depend on the gameplan and mindset. I'll be okay with Emanuelson too, but that is if we are not to assert our advantage from the starting whistle. If we are playing a soaking game, then perfect. Anyway, this is our home, we shouldn't be missing out on pulling whatever strings we can. As long as the defense remains solid (it will be slow, that much I can tell you), we should look to score.

No matter what happens, I'm taking this as an entertaining fixture, and nothing else. (IMG: style_emoticons/default/cool.gif) It's a clash of two European powerhouse, one of which I happen to be a fan of. And I'll just have a good time watching it, regardless of the results. We either get humiliated, humiliate them, it'll be a conservative fixture, or an all out attacking one. Either way, you can find me near the screen, enjoying some good food, and not worrying about what happens!

QUOTE (Rossoneri7 @ Mar 28 2012, 12:29 PM) Well I'm still not sure if I should watch the game, as things stand we don't have the capability to progress. Maybe we win the San Siro leg, but what of the one in Spain? Yeah, I just want to see the team test their wits against the best and assess what level we are at. Other than that, there is not much to take from these ties (IMG: style_emoticons/default/dry.gif) Not watch the game! Yeah..most of them Barca fan boys...already think we're gonna park the bus..play negative etc etc. They think it's just a matter of time.
Truth be told, I don't mind losing. I can accept our team is right now, not as strong as theirs. What I will not accept is if we don't put up a fight.

If we perform like we did in London, they will beat us silly. And with no Silva, VB, Robinho or Abate it's that bit harder. The one good thing is Ibra and Boateng will play - our most potent attacking players. And, in Boateng, imho, one of Serie A's best players and one of Europe's most in form players. He's become our Sneijder - in terms of the Dutchman at his peak for Inter.

QUOTE (X-Offender @ Mar 28 2012, 04:34 PM) Thiago and van Bommel are unavailable, so we have no other option but to play Ambro. Seedorf is the real problem here. Yeah I know, the comment was mostly aimed at picking Seedorf, but Ambro comes into play as picking them together in that midfield makes the decision a million times more stupid if you ask me. So even if Ambro is forced, putting the Seedorf icing on that cake is certainly no help to our cause
