Sorry for the late thread opening for a derby game.

Abate and Seedorf are back to training fully with the others, but still no mention of Aquilani which could be a huge loss for us.

Anyone know what's the new about Maicon? Last I heard he was a doubt for the game.

If that is the case than this would be the best solution for us.

Abate--Mexes--Thiago--Zambro
Boateng--VB--Nocerino
Robinho
Ibra--Pato

Playing a just returning Seedorf isn't really a ood idea, while Mexes has been inch perfect whenever he's played so it would be unfair to drop him, even for a player of Nesta's caliber

I think it will be a line up with Seedorf + Nesta in and Robinho will be prefered over Pato.

It's the Allegri way isn't it? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif)

At least it's not Urby behind the strikers...

Pato should start after his last derby performance. Who knows, maybe it'd kick-start his season?

Nesta or Mexes is a win-win situation so it doesn't really matter. Most coaches would prefer Nesta in a more important game.

I think both should start. The Gazzetta line-up has Seedorf and Robinho starting, but the problem with Seedorf is that he'll be pushing Nocerino to the right, where he's clearly not as effective as he is on the left. If this is the case than it would be a terrible decision. Especially considering Seedorf is returning from injury and Boateng had no problems playing in the midfield 3.

Also, as you said this would be a great game for Pato to finally get his season underway, all he needs is a single sight of goal and he's deadly. Starting Robinho as a striker imo is a huge mistake as he misses far too many chances. His best use would be out wide or behind the strikers, where his runs open up spaces for the others

Still, Mexes has not done anything wrong, it would be harsh to bench him

Aquilani would be a huge loss, mostly because Allegri will definitely play Seedorf and he'll push Nocerino to the right.

Off topic: we'll be playing Novara after this game, twice (Coppa Italia on Wednesday, home and Serie A on Sunday, away).

Sorry for the triple post.

Considering that Aquilani is injured and Allegri most probably will play Seedorf instead, wouldn't it be wise to play the Dutchman as AM, pushing Boateng to the right-hand side of midfield and thus Nocerino keeping his beloved LCM position?

Boateng - Van Bommel - Nocerino
Seedorf

Looks solid IMO.

If Ambro is really in contention that would be the biggest farce, and Allegri's biggest ridiculous decision out of all the ridiculous decisions he's made

I'd still play Robs instead of Seedorf, who is just returning from injury, while Robs also give us more movement and better workrate to help out the midfield.

Chu will probably come and respond to this with "but Seedorf is a midfielder and Robinho is a striker"

Personally, I'd prefer Seedorf in this kind of game. I know he's coming from an injury, but the man usually gets fired up for the derbies. Plus, we need some creative force in this game beside Ibra.

Don't get me wrong, I'd be more than ok with Seedorf, just personally I would prefer Robinho to start there.

If need be switching them during the game would be a minor adjustment, Robinho could be that extra spark of energy for the second half

Gattuso has contracted some influential form in Dubai that has had an effect on his eye condition. He's to take a break for an extended period.

Aquilani will be out a month due to his ankle.

Link

Gattuso should retire already. All this bad luck should be taken as a sign. And too bad for Aquilani. This means playing Seedorf as starter for a whole month. Balls!

Emanuelson??? Seriously???

Better than Ambro (IMG:style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif)

Still either Seedorf or Pato should be in there. Urby, especially behind the strikers is a big no no. I seriously don't get what Allegri is trying to achieve by playing him there. It's just making Urby look worse than he actually is. He's a good player to have on the squad for rotation purposes, but this is BS and it's making me dread seeing his name in that line-up

He was going to stay out for 6 months. That means he should recover in approximately 2 months.

Allegri said that Prince played well in that position but Urby is also a possibility, personally I'd play Prince at Trequartista and Urby in midfield as I feel Prince is better in that role.

QUOTE
Massimiliano Allegri sees the derby as a chance to end Inter’s Scudetto hopes, reveals what really happened with Alexandre Pato and proposes the trident attack.

It has been a chaotic few days for Milan, who on Thursday abandoned negotiations with Carlos Tevez after Pato turned down a €35m move to Paris Saint-Germain.

“This week has been rather eventful,” confessed the Coach who also signed a contract extension to June 2014.

“We continued our work in a relaxed manner despite the many reports swirling round the team. I never said that I wanted to sell Pato. It was simply a transfer operation to replace Antonio Cassano. It’s also not true that I have a cold rapport with Pato. With him and the other players I have a perfectly professional relationship.

“It is only normal that he’ll be on the bench sometimes, as everyone is. It’s impossible to play every single game and nobody ever doubted his quality. Will Tevez arrive anyway? I don’t know, I’m just focused on the derby. As for my contract, that was never a problem, it was just an issue of timing.”

Allegri has won all the Milan derbies since coming to San Siro and hopes to continue that record against a revived Inter coming off five consecutive victories.

“I think after the change of management from Gian Piero Gasperini to Claudio Ranieri that Inter changed their style of football. They are in good shape and have found a balance to their team.

“The derby is always a tense affair and one that requires great concentration. We are not too far away from them in the table, so must try to win at all costs. After all, a victory would mean cutting down their chances of fighting for the Scudetto, so it is an important crossroads.”

Alberto Aquilani is out for a month and Gennaro Gattuso suffered a relapse of his eye condition, so Allegri must again reshuffle the midfield.

“Kevin-Prince Boateng did well there against Atalanta, while Urby Emanuelson is an option for the trequartista role. In fact, I could also field Pato, Robinho and Zlatan Ibrahimovic together.”

Milan have bad news ahead of Sunday’s showdown with Inter, as Thiago Silva and Clarence Seedorf are major injury doubts.

The Rossoneri are already without Alberto Aquilani and Gennaro Gattuso for the match tomorrow evening.

Although reports from the club medical staff suggest they are optimistic Thiago Silva will be fit in time, he is struggling with a muscular problem.

The Brazilian defender did not take part in the final training session due to a thigh twinge and was already having problems on Friday.

Meanwhile, Seedorf is suffering from flu symptoms and is also a doubt for the big game. Taye Taiwo has not been called up due to the same illness.

Antonio Cassano was along with the squad for their run-out at San Siro this afternoon and amused teammates by continually asking to join in the game between ranks.

Cassano was given the all-clear this week to start personalised training as he continues his recovery from a minor stroke caused by a congenital heart defect.

Milan squad: Abbiati, Amelia, Abate, Antonini, Bonera, Mexes, Nesta, Thiago Silva, Zambrotta, Ambrosini, Boateng, Emanuelson, Nocerino, Seedorf, Van Bommel, El Shaarawy, Ibrahimovic, Inzaghi, Pato, Robinho

Thiago? Who said anything about him not playing?

I'd start Ambro over Emo in this one. Ambrosini is still our captain, which means a lot in those matches.

Ambro??

No way, he's barely half the player he used to be, no matter his position in this team having him on the pitch is simply a no no.

Some people care more about the the €35m price he was going for. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif) Why settle for an out-of-form duck when you can have two (or three) new players in his stead. I wouldn't put anything far from the fans who occupy Italian stadiums, whether it be the Boriello welcome or Maldini farewell. Be prepared for the worst.

Trust me, the majority of Milan fans love Pato and where terrified at the thought of him being exchanged for Tevez. If anything, I'm expecting a huge standing ovation for Pato.

At least we'll have Robinho as an option coming off the bench, but Urby will most likely be a passenger during the game. I'm still trying to figure out what Max sees in him that in any way, shape or form shows that he can be a trequartista.

Anyway, hoping for a great performance.

My 1 milan wish is for someone (preferably Allegri) to explain to me how in this big green world Emmanuelson can be seen as a trequartista!! In the hand full of game he has ridiculously played there he had shown absolutely nothing! This only thing of note I can remember is a skied effort in a Champs League game.
It was ridiculous before but now, to play him there in a DERBY, is just suicidal. We will be starting the game with 10 men and giving Inter an advantage from the first whistle.
It would have to be one of the worst pieces of coaching I have ever seen.
I really hope I am proven wrong for the derby's sake, but he has shown nothing to tell me otherwise.

As mentioned above, the only saving grace here is Robinho coming off the bench. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) That too, after the 45th minute. Other than that, it makes absolutely no sense whatsoever. Let's see.

QUOTE (acid911 @ Jan 15 2012, 08:26 PM) *
As mentioned above, the only saving grace here is Robinho coming off the bench. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) That too, after the 45th minute. Other than that, it makes absolutely no sense whatsoever. Let's see.

The only problem with that is that Allegri will most likely take Pato off and leave Urby in there when that switch happens.

I see no reason why he is starting over Antonini or Tawio. At least they can actually move.

I don't know why we're trying to go through Zambro.

He needs to sit back and think about his defensive work only. Also the fact that he's up against Maicon!

Maicon having a field day against Zambrotta. We need to change something back there.
