Last season we won the league in this fixture. Oh what memories...
Juve have Inter this weekend, so this could be a great opportunity for us to reach them or even surpass them in the table if Inter manage to do their jobs.
But most importantly we need to win this one at all costs. Roma lost this weekend, so how that effects them for this one we'll have to wait and see. Hopefully they're completely demoralized because with the way we've been playing I can't see us winning this tbh

QUOTE (Jack Bauer @ Oct 27 2011, 03:59 PM) Abbiati Abate - Silva - Nesta - Taiwo Aqui MvB Nocerino Boateng Ibra Cassano I'd only change one thing, Zambro for Taiwo. Who is improving but is prone to lapses, as we saw yesterday. Zambro is our most defensively stable player

Zambro is our most defensively stable player I'd generally agree, but Roma's not been solid at RB this year playing Rosi, Perotta, casseti...all players Taiwo can deal with IMO... The main matchup, in a game full of them, is J. Angel vs Abate. Both are very good offensively and prone to defensive errors, so the winner of tis battle could help decide the fixture. Also, I have a feeling MVB2 or Aquilani may score a hat-trick in this one (IMG: style_emoticons/default/wink.gif)

QUOTE (Jack Bauer @ Oct 28 2011, 01:35 PM) Mexes has sustained a minor fracture to his hand, that's why he wasn't called up.
Allegri is still not sure between Robi-Cassano and Taiwo-Zambro. Nesta and MvB will strat. Yeah, Gazzetta has Taiwo and Cassano starting while sportmediaset has Robs and Antonini starting instead. Personally I want Cassano and Zambro starting. Taiwo isn't ready for this kind of game imo. While Cassano is better starting from the first minutes, and for Robs he's usually comfortable either way, whether starting or coming off the bench, but his speed would be a great weapon to use should we need it in the second half against a tired side.

QUOTE (X-Offender @ Oct 29 2011, 03:19 PM) Milan (4-3-1-2): Abbiati; Abate, Nesta, T.Silva, Zambrotta; Aquilani, Van Bommel, Nocerino; Boateng; Ibrahimovic, Robinho. Wonder why he left Cassano out. He'd be totally up for it against his old club. Plus I always think that Robinho is more influential off the bench then Cassano, simply because he brings more energy and movement then Cassano does

The spirit of Ambrosini seems to have possessed Bommel. If he maintains with his fouling, he'll see red soon.

Bommel has been awful. Ruined a few attacks while made the defensive section unstable and static. Thing is, Ambrosini at this point wouldn't do any better.

He usually settles down with the lunging fouls after he get a yellow, and that's nothing new though. I'm expecting a better second half from him

QUOTE (Zed.D @ Oct 29 2011, 06:57 PM) ?!?!?!?!?
"cross-header goal". it's one of the most common ways of scoring goals in football for god's sake!
- - -
Good game overall save for a few slips on our side. and Binho is not involved in the action enough. Zlatan clearly doesn't have his dribbling boots on, he should quit trying and concentrate on scoring more goals. As usual, you got me wrong. The sole attack was very good, but we're not playing in the right speed and with the right rhythm.

QUOTE (Jack Bauer @ Oct 29 2011, 05:44 PM) 3 striker while you under pressure is not needed. Plus, Robi needed a sub as well, wasn't playing well. Robinho would have dropped into midfield, he has a better workrate then Urby if we want to get into the technicality of it... Nocerino what a super miss just now. Well after that hat trick from him... (IMG: style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

What a mess up there at the end. Abbiati has got to get his head together! What a fumble there again! He's having one in every game this season.
The defending simply has to get better, we're simply not going to do anything if we keep conceeding goals at this rate.

QUOTE (drucurl @ Oct 29 2011, 05:49 PM) We all switched off....terrible lack of concentration by Nocerino For the chance? Yeah it was a terrible miss. But Nesta trying a half heartedtackle as if feeling he doesn't need to do his all since we're leading by 2. This is the attitude that has to be removed at once. Thiago and Nesta were impeccable all game imo, Nesta ruined a perfect performance only due to a lapse in concentration, something that I personally don't tolerate, not from him.

The goal is Nesta's mistake. Well, one can also say that Thiago wasn't completely innocent.

QUOTE (Jack Bauer @ Oct 29 2011, 06:57 PM) Very important win, not easy to beat them away. Top of the table right now (IMG: style_emoticons/default/king.gif) Our defense is the issue we gotta fixed up. We are scoring enough, but very instable defensively. You know why? It's not settled. While Nesta and Silva is our first choice partnership, both have missed a combined total of 3 domestic matches. That's not abysmal, but when you look at full back, and particularly left back, 3 players cycle for that slot. RB is kinda the only position where one player has been solid and consistently played. Silva and Abate are the 2 almost ever presents. The other slots see various guys like Antonini, Bonera, Mexes, Zambrotta, Taiwo, and Nesta. Add to that Abbiati's Jekyll and Hyde season and it's not hard to see why we're conceding. The good thing, like you say, is we're scoring. We have riches up front and players that good will get you goals.

@ Danny yes, we're still winning, and I agree with almost everything, but the problems in defence are very worrying for me, and yes we're scoring a lot, but sometimes, no matter how great the guys upfront are, you still can't get a break through. That's why it's so important to keep a clean sheet, or if you're going to conceed, at least keep it to just one goal. Last season we won the league by doing this. Sometimes we scored a lot, sometimes we managed to get by with a single goal and still got 3 points because we didn't conceed. We aren't going to score 3 or 4 goals in every game.
There's still time to fix this, last season we had similar problems during the first half of the season, we were conceeding a lot through counter attacks and we managed to eliminate that from our game. Our defence was near perfect last season from January onwards. A big part of that was the stability of the back 4 plus the shield VB made in front of them, and this season VB, Thiago and Nesta have simply not been at their best while we have issues with the LB.
Like I said, we still have time to fix it. Next internation break Allegri really needs to focus on defensive drills, defending on set-pieces and make the players understand that lapses in concentration won't be tolerated.

Next internation break Allegri really needs to focus on defensive drills, defending on set-pieces and make the players understand that lapses in concentration won't be tolerated. It doesn't matter how much work you do on set pieces, and understanding, and coherent man marking etc, if you don't have a settled defence it makes no difference. The bedrock of any team is its defence (unless you're Barca of course) and success is based on having a settled back 4 who are completely familiar with each other. Until Allegri settles on a back 4 and persists with the same players (bar injury of course) we'll keep conceding goals. But it really isn't worrying me given how many we're scoring at the other end. No reason to believe the goals will dry up any time soon. Plus we've got a fresh Pato ready to return and he'll be gagging for goals when he's fit. No panic just yet for me (IMG: style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)
