He was supposed to be the next big thing. I wish someone, would actually fulfill their potential here. Kaka seemed ages ago!

Not really on topic but I'd like to keep the GK discussion going. Anyway, from the "No sh-t, Di©k Tracy?" department, Abbiati's agent has been quoted today as saying that Abi won't be leaving Milan. Gee, you think, especially with Dida and Storari conveniently out of the way? ( Link from Goal.com, who are trying to look more urbane nowadays by no longer having their headlines in all caps.)

QUOTE (Goal.com) Ronaldinho Will Be Key Next Season - Milan Goalkeeper Marco Amelia
Milan goalkeeper Marco Amelia has told the club to keep Ronaldinho, so assured is he that the Brazilian will transport them to success next season.
The Brazilian has been tipped to leave San Siro, with Los Angeles Galaxy the latest club rumoured to be keen on him.
Amelia though has underscored the importance of keeping him at the club.
"Who will be the key player for the 2010-11 season? Ronaldinho," Amelia told La Gazzetta dello Sport.
"It's a shame he is not playing for the national team because he is a great player."
Amelia signed a one-season loan deal with the option to join on a co-ownership next year. And he is confident of surpassing expectations.
"Milan is the chance of a lifetime for me. They said it's down to me to show that I can play for Milan, and there is no better motivation for me," he concluded. Wow, Amelia's really trying his darnedest to get in good with management. Let's hope he backs up his words, because on his worst day he's a bigger whiner than Abbiati.

Amelia had a good start with Milan against Real. Let's see how long Abbiati will be gone.

Agreed, Miz, but even you will admit that he did well. (IMG: style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) Point is that it was a good start, to build on. He may go up or down, but first match as Milan keeper that too in the CL, plus in the most intimidating stadium environment, along with a shaky defense and team members who for the most part had their shoulder down. That say a lot. And speaking of lots, it could have been a lot, lot worse. Maybe a freak goal or stupid mistake. 6/10 at least.

QUOTE (CHU-LIP @ Jan 19 2011, 08:05 PM) The little Roma played for Milan (friendlies), he did very well. I've got faith in him (which is based on little). I agree. There's no reason not to have faith in him.

QUOTE (X-Offender @ Oct 22 2014, 11:47 AM) Did you know that he's still without a team? And that he has now decided to play in the Italian 6th division? Jeez... WTF? Why? He's a good keeper, and mid-level Serie A team would be lucky to have him on their roster, always played well when called upon imo.

Always played well? I think you might reconsider this. Sure, he didn't have any true horror show like Storari or Abbiati, but he also lacks that certain ability to make the match saving dive. He did minor and mid-level mistakes, never ever held us in the game or did something to give the team a boost. About 29 Serie A matches and 37 goals conceded with Milan is a terrible, terrible stat.
I'd always pick Abbiati ahead of him.

Btw. I also found out that he had allegedly have a fight with Daniele Bonera in May this year. Weird.

I think he's a good reliable keeper yes, nothing amazing or spectacular no, but he was a good back up for us and would be a good starter for mid-level Serie A sides
6th division? Come on now.

Well it's probably temporary. He'll move back to Serie A or Serie B perhaps during January. The thing is, I don't know so many teams that need a keeper. Napoli and Roma perhaps.
