He's capable of some absolutely spectacular saves -- he's got his Kalac moments from tiem to time, though -- and he's looked rather good so far this year. Sure saved Milan today at the end of the game.

Question is, if he keeps up this form is Abbiati going to slip back into the #1 spot or will Storari keep his place for as long as his current form keeps up? He looks pretty determined to say the least, I don't think he'll give up his spot very easily

QUOTE While AC Milan's forwards may not have been earning their pay packets this season, Marco Storari has been putting in some fine performances in goal for the Rossoneri.
The 32-year-old is out of contract next summer, and Milannews.it reports that the Milan hierarchy are now making a move to remedy the situation.
While Storari is currently on an annual salary of €500,000, his proposed new deal would see him double that to €1m-per-season.
Storari's performances have certainly kept the Diavoli in a number of matches this season, such as last Sunday's goalless draw with Bari.
The former Messina keeper will be expecting to be put through his paces in Milan's next fixture against FC Zurich in the Champions League on Wednesday evening.
goal.com his contract was finished in june. It seems he got a year extra and a much deserved bonus. furthermore, he would be the only keeper for next year we got so far as the other 3 are done in june.

QUOTE (MizNelson @ Sep 29 2009, 04:24 PM) We'd probably be even worse off than we already are without him so far, but he remains an average GK who happens to be playing well this season, just like Kalac circa 2008 (he also received an extension for his strong play to close out that season, and we know what happened after that).
This is the guy who also let in four against Inert not too long ago. i think we are all grown up enough to admit that game wasn't on the keeper..... maybe because Storari isn't spelled D-I-D-A you are being fogged by facts (IMG: style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) as a die hard dida fan, i honestly don't believe his wages are warranted, but i do hope he can succeed elsewhere, so long as he doesn't drain us for alot longer...

(IMG: style_emoticons/default/innocent.gif) i actually don't blame dida in this scenario, he's just a lucky guy getting paid..... ... ..... this thread is mostly in anger towards the management who had valued him wrongly& continue to do everything wrong(giving fat contracts to the wrong people&cancelling the wrong ones too, won't buy players) dida gave his best over the years, he should have left sooner.... or be noble&take a pay cut like rino did. miz also is over-doing it by calling storari only an average GK(we don't care if our GK is average or world class, we just want him to stop shots)

He's looking a very, very promising goalkeeper and time will tell how good he can become, but he's making multiple excellent saves in each game.
Pity about most of the rest of the team but hey. i don't think time is on the side of the 32 year old Storari but yeah he has been great (IMG: style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

Imo Storari is another Kalac, he's mostly average but capabale of making miraculous saves but also the biggest blunders.
He's having a miracle couple of months like Kalac had 2 seasons ago, but I can't see it lasting.
But atleast we know that we'll actually have a keeper next season since all of the other keepers will be out of contract at the end of this one

I think he's nothing like Kalac. Storari can at best produce a 7 and he will do just that 9 times out of 10 without any blunders. Kalac is a 6 at best, falls easily to 4 and will make some very costly blunders from time to time.

I don't know he's only played a handfull of times for us and atm he's going through a good period of form. Should he lose his form I'm not sure what we'll see out of him but I remember his days at Catania where he either had wonder games (like the one against us where it was practicall him against Kaka) or he'll have a horror show of a game and be the main reason why the game is lost

QUOTE Milan lose Storari for a month Tuesday 20 October, 2009 Milan will be without goalkeeper Marco Storari for a month due to a thigh injury, so Nelson Dida takes over the gloves.
The Italian pulled out of Sunday night’s 2-1 win over Roma after sustaining a problem in training and the test results are now back.
“Storari tore the tendon in his left thigh muscle and the recovery time is expected to be 30 days,” read a statement on the club website.
He had been the fourth choice during the summer, but with Christian Abbiati injured and poor friendly performances from Dida and Zeljko Kalac, Leonardo reshuffled his priorities.
Dida (pictured) had not made a single appearance in official games this season before he played in the 2-1 victory against Roma.
He will make his Champions League comeback against Real Madrid tomorrow evening.
The goalkeeper on the bench will be 19-year-old Antonio Donnarumma, one of three youth academy members in the squad travelling to Madrid.
Oguchi Onyewu, Gennaro Gattuso and David Di Gennaro are also absent. I guess a thigh muscle tear isn't as serious as it seems, as I remember Jared Borgetti doing likewise during the '06 WC and not missing any game time. (Psst...Poor friendly performances? Dida didn't play once during the preseason. Do your research, FI.)

I nearly had a laugh when I read this, because just when you think you've seen it all in terms of Milan's injury woes. QUOTE Report: Rene Higuita’s Scorpion Kick Behind Milan ‘Keeper Marco Storari’s Injury The 32-year-old is out for a month with a thigh problem after apparently trying to emulate the Colombian trickster…
Milan goalkeeper Marco Storari injured a tendon in his left thigh ten days ago prior to Roma’s visit to the San Siro.
Press reports even speculated that the setback would keep him sidelined for the remainder of the season, but Milan have insisted that the net-minder is scheduled for a return to action in mid-November.
However, it has now emerged that the former Fiorentina man suffered the problem when he was trying to perform the scorpion kick that was the trademark of former Colombian international Rene Higuita.
Sportmediaset.it claims that Storari lingered on the pitch at Milanello after the final training session on Sunday morning ahead of the kick-off with Roma.
And, out of the blue, he suddenly attempted the spectacular kick invented by Higuita where the goalkeeper does a somersault in the air and hits the ball with his heels.
It was quite an attempt but unfortunately Storari did not manage a smooth landing and he soon realised that he couldn’t get up. (Goal.com) Why would you even attempt something like that just hours before game time?

I have no idea how to do it and I am not a professional goalkeeper (I don't jump and fall all the time) but still I am 100% I would not get injured trying to do it.

I'm playing a 5-a-side game tonight so I will try it. I'm not saying I will execute it right, I won't probably even get the ball, but I'm not going to get injured, that I am sure of!

(IMG: style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif) QUOTE (MizNelson @ Oct 27 2009, 07:10 PM) I've seen it before, don't you agree with me that it's impossible to get injured by doing it? I mean, you just jump forward and bend your knees to hit the ball... the goalies do much harder things than that all the time! Unless it involved climbing the bar and doing a double flip before hitting the ball like that, I cannot understand how he got injured.

I don't think it's as easy to win a GK spot as an outfield spot. Even if Storari does great, there's nothing Dida's done wrong to bench him.
Similarly the only reason Dida was starting was coz our official number 1 was not at 100%. If he gets fit, the respect and seniority and all that demands that Abbiati get the first preference to prove himself over Storari.
I think Storari was made aware of this, and then he made the decision.
