While AC Milan's forwards may not have been earning their pay packets this season, Marco Storari has been putting in some fine performances in goal for the Rossoneri.

The 32-year-old is out of contract next summer, and Milannews.it reports that the Milan hierarchy are now making a move to remedy the situation.

While Storari is currently on an annual salary of €500,000, his proposed new deal would see him double that to €1m-per-season.

Storari's performances have certainly kept the Diavoli in a number of matches this season, such as last Sunday's goalless draw with Bari.

The former Messina keeper will be expecting to be put through his paces in Milan's next fixture against FC Zurich in the Champions League on Wednesday evening.

Imo Storari is another Kalac, he's mostly average but capabale of making miraculous saves but also the biggest blunders.

He's having a miracle couple of months like Kalac had 2 seasons ago, but I can't see it lasting.

But atleast we know that we'll actually have a keeper next season since all of the other keepers will be out of contract at the end of this one

I think he's nothing like Kalac. Storari can at best produce a 7 and he will do just that 9 times out of 10 without any blunders. Kalac is a 6 at best, falls easily to 4 and will make some very costly blunders from time to time.

Is he better then Kalac? I don't know he's only played a handfull of times for us and atm he's going through a good period of form. Should he lose his form I'm not sure what we'll see out of him but I remember his days at Catania where he either had wonder games (like the one against us where it was practicall him against Kaka) or he'll have a horror show of a game and be the main reason why the game is lost

Storari is one of the very few bright spots but some are even finding ammo to slag him off with. It's hardly plain sailing at the Meazza but come on, some credit where it is actually due!

Better to extend the contract of a 32-year-old previously-mediocre GK on the basis of a few good games than to actually look for a new one, I'd say. (That's because it's a hell of a lot cheaper.)

So far, Storari is no different than Kalac was for us briefly in '08.

Milan will be without goalkeeper Marco Storari for a month due to a thigh injury, so Nelson Dida takes over the gloves.

The Italian pulled out of Sunday night’s 2-1 win over Roma after sustaining a problem in training and the test results are now back.

“Storari tore the tendon in his left thigh muscle and the recovery time is expected to be 30 days,” read a statement on the club website.

He had been the fourth choice during the summer, but with Christian Abbiati injured and poor friendly performances from Dida and Zeljko Kalac, Leonardo reshuffled his priorities.

Dida (pictured) had not made a single appearance in official games this season before he played in the 2-1 victory against Roma.

He will make his Champions League comeback against Real Madrid tomorrow evening.

The goalkeeper on the bench will be 19-year-old Antonio Donnarumma, one of three youth academy members in the squad travelling to Madrid.

Oguchi Onyewu, Gennaro Gattuso and David Di Gennaro are also absent.

I guess a thigh muscle tear isn't as serious as it seems, as I remember Jared Borgetti doing likewise during the '06 WC and not missing any game time.

The 32-year-old is out for a month with a thigh problem after apparently trying to emulate the Colombian trickster…

Milan goalkeeper Marco Storari injured a tendon in his left thigh ten days ago prior to Roma’s visit to the San Siro.

Press reports even speculated that the setback would keep him sidelined for the remainder of the season, but Milan have insisted that the net-minder is scheduled for a return to action in mid-November.

However, it has now emerged that the former Fiorentina man suffered the problem when he was trying to perform the scorpion kick that was the trademark of former Colombian international Rene Higuita.

Sportmediaset.it claims that Storari lingered on the pitch at Milanello after the final training session on Sunday morning ahead of the kick-off with Roma.

And, out of the blue, he suddenly attempted the spectacular kick invented by Higuita where the goalkeeper does a somersault in the air and hits the ball with his heels.

It was quite an attempt but unfortunately Storari did not manage a smooth landing and he soon realised that he couldn’t get up.

I've seen it before, don't you agree with me that it's impossible to get injured by doing it? I mean, you just jump forward and bend your knees to hit the ball... the goalies do much harder things than that all the time!

Unless it involved climbing the bar and doing a double flip before hitting the ball like that, I cannot understand how he got injured.

Bad move by both sides. Storari took the easy way out instead of fighting to get his spot back (which he had a legitimate chance of doing), and Milan are stupid for letting him walk.
