From the club website. Longish interview, but here are the relevant snippets along with quick translations thereof. [Galliani: Gilardino has confirmed his desire to remain in milan, accepting the competition for starting spots. Milan has always wanted Gila to remain. The issue is closed and forgotten. Now we're thinking about next season. Gilardino: I'm very happy about this meeting, it was very important. I'd like to remain here as long as possible. I'm happy about what Pippo said (in an interview, Pippo has said that he'd like to see Gila remain a Milan striker for the next ten years). In reality, I didn't have any doubts. The press exaggerated my words; the desire to remain at Milan was always there. I've given this interview to tell everyone that I was never interested in joining another club, especially not Inter.]

QUOTE Gila going nowhere, claim Milan
Friday 8 June, 2007 ::: channel4.com
Adriano Galliani insists Alberto Gilardino will stay with Milan for some time – just days after publicly putting him on the transfer market for £17m.
The striker last week revealed that he was considering his options at the San Siro after admitting that he was sick of being treated as a flop and wanted the outfit to show more faith in his abilities.
The European giants didn’t appreciate Gila’s interview, but Vice-President Galliani insists everything has been ironed out with the youngster.
“Just as Filippo Inzaghi, I believe Gila will be a Milan striker for the next 10 years,†said the official on Friday.
“I am sure that all the problems will be resolved. We met with the player, his father and his agent a few days ago and we were all very serene.
“Gila must understand that we have great faith in him, but no Milan player has ever demanded a spot in the starting line-up.
“He will be one of the four strikers in the squad next season and will have to compete with his teammates.â€
The former Parma man is a reported target for Juventus, as a possible David Trezeguet replacement, but Galliani is confident that Gilardino has learned his lesson.
“He is young, strong and will be granted space like all of his teammates,†added the former Lega chief. “We would have never reached the Athens Final had we not had so many players here.
“It isn’t always a dishonour to start from the bench, but I am sure Alberto will understand all this. It is normal that he wants to play – he wouldn’t be a Milan player otherwise.†So. He's staying. Nice.
