Not too sure how many of you guys are going to watch it/are interested in it. But I find it great watch, even without some of the higher profile players being there.

It doesn't start for a few weeks but I thought I'd start it up. I believe we have a few Americans and a guy from Venezuela that may have an interest in it anyways. (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

Group A
Venezuela
Uruguay
Peru
Bolivia

Group B

Nice thread dude. I was going to open it in days. (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/wink.gif)

(IMG:http://www.procompetencia.gov.ve/copa%20america.jpg)

Without Ronaldinho and Kaka' and probably without some of the big from Argentina this Copa America is not that important. Brazil and co don't take it seriously.

In Europe, everybody fights for a European Championship (like Euro 2004, Euro 2000...) but in Copa America, the big 2 don't give a damn.

Anyway, obviously I'll follow it.

Copa America 2007 from 26 June to 14 of July.

Argentina are superb to watch, regardless of the players on the field. So I like to see them go quite far. Hopefully Athletico's Sergio Aguero gets picked in the sqad, I'd love to see more of him!

Obviously I enjoy watching them fall at the last hurdle. (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

Ah right. Cheers.

Anyways, I've had a look through the squads, this clearly is the stand out team, Brazil's for me is very poor. I've got my money at the Inter lads to go all the way.

1 GK Roberto Abbondanzieri (Getafe)
2 DF Roberto Ayala (Valencia)
3 DF Daniel Díaz (Boca Juniors)
4 DF Hugo Ibarra (Boca Juniors)
5 MF Fernando Gago (Real Madrid)
6 DF Gabriel Heinze (Manchester United)
7 FW Rodrigo Palacio (Boca Juniors)
8 DF Javier Zanetti (Internazionale)
9 FW Hernán Crespo (Internazionale)
10 MF Juan Román Riquelme (Boca Juniors)
11 FW Carlos Tévez (West Ham United)
12 GK Juan Pablo Carrizo (River Plate)
13 MF Lucho González (Porto)
14 MF Javier Mascherano (Liverpool)
15 DF Gabriel Milito (Real Zaragoza)
16 MF Pablo Aimar (Real Zaragoza)
17 DF Nicolás Burdisso (Internazionale)
18 FW Lionel Messi (FC Barcelona)
19 MF Esteban Cambiasso (Internazionale)
20 MF Juan Sebastián (Estudiantes La Plata)
21 FW Diego Milito (Real Zaragoza)
22 GK Agustín Orión (San Lorenzo de Almagro)

I think he's only there because Maxi Rodríguez spent alot of the season injured.

Does anybody know if Higuain can play for Argentina yet? I heard he was applying for citizenship, but I dunno how long that takes.

I'm watching it. Peru are playing surprisingly well. So far (60th minute or so), Uruguay are utter shite. It's been a pretty decent game. Peru had a second goal disallowed in the first half, btw.

I've got a small cleaning job at my moms school. It brings in the pennies so I'm not complaining. All I can really get with my college hours. (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/sad.gif)

Same for me, I get called spoiled all the time because of having Sky in my room, I really don't understand why. I have to have a job to pay for it. I wouldn't mind, but none of them work. (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif)

Nah, finish early July. Still got tons of coursework to do. (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/mad.gif)

I don't often root for host teams to do well. But I like this Venezuela team and their fans. I'd like to see them shock a few people and do something decent. (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

P.S. If they win today it'll be their second win in the CA in the last 40 years! (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/ohmy.gif)

USA has a VERY VERY VERY young squad at the tournament. Our team has gotten to a crossroads where a lot of the veterans are slowly falling off and a new group of youngsters are coming through. our coach decided to leave a lot of the veterans in the states and let the young guys go to a hostile environment. a lot of these guys have only a couple of caps under their belts. this is going to be a great chance for our young talent to see what it's like in an extremely hostile environment.

i may be going back too far, but the last time we were in this tournament we beat Brazil (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/king.gif)

our first game is against argentina (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/unsure.gif)

if we win one game in this tournament i will be happy
if we make it out of the group stage i'll be ecstatic
if we, somehow, win the whole thing...i will die

You're probably in the toughest group of all, there is no weak team. I'm sure a top 3 finish will be enough to get you a 'best third placed tea' position in the QFs though.

Ecuador 1-0 Chile.

Very nice little cip over the keeper, Ecuador look pretty good.

EDIT: I must say, I'm some sort of curse. 1-1 Cracking goal by the real Suazo. (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif)

Yup. Ecuador is a nice team.

Chile... they miss the big 2 upfront: Salas and Zamorano. (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

Yeah, I was up until it finished, I decided to stay on here so I wouldn't fall to asleep. I may have to record the Brazil game tonight though, I can't be going to bed at 4 when I've got to be up at 7. >_<

Seem to get a lot of goals in this tournament but there just isn't the intensity of like a World Cup in my opinion, seems almost like an exhibition at times, perhaps that's just the South American style that I'm not used to.

Or the fact that we've got the dodgy La Liga commentators who are about as exciting as counting sheep (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif)

Haha, I can't take these guys seriously ever since they commentated for 'Dream Team' on Skyone a dodgy English football program.

The screams of Karl Fletcher just used to make me laugh - Kurt should know what I'm on about!

Yeah, Mexico look pretty handy up top.

I used to watch Dream Team with my dad. (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif)

Not because it was good, it was just awfullly funny. The fact they ALWAYS won/lost the game in the 90th minute. (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif)

P.S. My dad even has the Harchester away shirt. (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif)

Haha (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif) I watched it for like the 7th/8th series or something like that the one with Phil Wallace as the chairman the guy who won the lottery and up until that Don bloke crashed into the bus. Think that's their names.

Then at the start of the next series they replaced like everyone and even included a rude boy like Arsenal's Eboue, at that point I gave up with watching it!

My understanding is that the US coach had to rotate the call-ups between the Gold Cup and the Copa America, since MLS is in the middle of its season. The Gold Cup, being the CONCACAF tournament, got the priority. So yeah, some of the names you would normally expect to see won't be there. (However, I'll be interested to see how the two DC United guys do. They're my local team.)

Well, Roque Santa Cruz has scored twice so far to put Paraguay ahead of Colombia (48th min). Not the most thrilling of games, thus far.

Edit: Make that three goals for Santa Cruz. And yet another from Paraguay just now (85th minute). Er. And another in the 87th. Poor Colombia. DULL game.

From yesterday match... Robinho >>> Brazil squad. (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif)

Well, without Kaka' and Ronaldinho... Robinho is the best foward/SS/LW they have. So it's not big news.

USA lead. 1-0 penalty. (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/ohmy.gif)

I think they should be docked points for wearing such an ugly shirt. (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif)

Well, that didn't last long. Crespo scores in the 11th to equalize. The new haircut looks good.

Well. Is this the Copa of upsets? The US - minus a number of regular starters - are holding a full-strength Argentina to a draw at halftime. I don't really follow the MLS much and know very little about the US national team, but so far tonight I've been very happily surprised by their performance.

All things considered, it wasn't a bad performance by the US team.

This is definitely not Brazil's tournament. Fred broke his foot in training and is out.

Bolivia-Uruguay is turning into a kicking match. The ref is horrible and has pretty much lost control. 0-0 in the 57th.

EDIT: Uruguay finally scored a goal. Sanchez in the 59th.

This thread is cursed, as soon as somebody says something, there's a goal. (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif)
