Chelsea striker Andriy Shevchenko has quashed the latest speculation linking him with a move back to Milan.
The Ukrainian joined the Stamford Bridge outfit last summer in a £30m move, but has struggled to settle.
He was again paired with a Rossoneri reunion this week, but the former European Footballer of the Year insists he’s happy in the English capital.
“I do not regret my decision to leave Milan. It was down to me and I thought about it deeply,†said Shevchenko in an interview to the Sun.
“I knew it would be hard to adapt after so many years in Milan, but I would just want people to leave me the time to acclimatise and then you will see,†added the 30-year-old.
“I like London a lot and I feel good there. I am learning a new culture and a new way of living.
“It’s a new club and a new life for me. I certainly am not the first man to have trouble adapting to the Premiership.â€
Reports in England have suggested that another problem for Sheva is his relationship with teammate Didier Drogba, who has allegedly accused him of being too selfish on the field of play.
“Football is a team game above all and we are both working to attain the same goal. Didier is having a terrific season and I am delighted about it,†explained the 2004 Golden Ball winner.
“He and I have very different playing styles. That’s what explains why we don’t have the same scoring statistics. In any case, I have never doubted my ability to find my best form again.
“We are all after the same objective — winning for the team and for our fans,†concluded the former Dynamo Kiev ace.
The striker underwent surgery on Tuesday to solve the hernia problem which ruled him out of the Champions League semi-final with Liverpool.
The operation was originally pencilled in for the end of the season but was brought forward. Shevchenko will therefore miss the FA Cup Final against Manchester United on May 19.
