Oguchi Onyewu's move to Fulham has been put on hold, and now the American defender may be headed to AC Milan, according to speculation out of Italy.

The Cottagers certainly crave the Standard Liege defender, but Standard Liege has been balking at agreeing terms with the Premiership side -- the asking price for the American a little higher than what Fulham boss Chris Coleman originally thought.

Onyewu, who saw Standard block a move to Real Madrid in August, actually took a medical at Fulham in London, but he returned this week to join up with Standard for training and also to discuss terms with suitors from France, Spain, and Italy.

One of those suitors appears to be AC Milan, who would not be put off by the estimated $4 million asking price for "Gooch."

The Rossoneri, however, still are trying to obtain highly-touted Lazio defender Massimo Oddo, who recently admitted his Lazio future was in doubt because of the offer from Milan.

You know what my reaction was to this news?

Oh dear God....

He has all the physical abilities of Ferdinand but NONE of the defensive skills...

He would be a good buy for Reading... (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif)

We def' need someone as physical as this guy. He's from the USA NT so he cannot be that bad. He's being linked with Fulham and Real Madrid too.

Damn it. I miss Stam. (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif)

Yes, I have. He played in the World Cup too.

Here is how I would rate his skills using a 1-100 scale:

(Warning, these ratings may be too accurate)

Defence: 68
Body Balance/ Power: 96
Passing/ teamwork: 65
Header, jump: 92

It's not too hard too find these kind of players...

Not too hard. With that 68 we can say he's probably better than Kaladze, so. And more powerful, and with better header/jump. So get him. (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

ya he is pretty physical i remember him fouling gila and toni every second at the world cup. but he's barely serie a quality let alone milan. i would even go as far to say he's reckless so ya we dont need a reckless defenders with no skill.

Did you even know Kala has scored 12 goals for us? That's really really good for a defender. Only a couple less than Seedorf... (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/ohmy.gif)

Exactly. Everytime he tries to tackle a player. He looks like a complete jackass... I mean here's this huge guy pushing and shoving you in the face trying to get the ball away from you... I just hate such raw defenders with no defending skills...

So what? Do you think I care if a defender can score goals? Their mission is to defend. And Kaladze is not even NEAR Milan-quality.

If Berlusconi likes him or his daughter is having/had an affair with him... that is another thing. (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif)

A real desperate move in the case of Milan. Physical presence is big in the Prem and not serie A where skill dictates.
