Oddo man out

(IMG:http://www.footballdoostan.com/Images/Squad/ODDO%20Massimo.jpg)

Friday 29 December, 2006

Massimo Oddo looks set to leave Lazio after Coach Delio Rossi admitted the skipper can leave if he is unhappy.

The right-back, a World Cup winner this summer, has been linked with a Milan switch for a while now – and it could finally go through in January.

“I hope Massimo stays with us because I believe he has a future with this team,” stated Rossi. “But I believe that we shouldn’t keep a player who wants to move away.

“By me Oddo should end his career with Lazio because he is our idol. But if he goes to Milan we will do without him.

“We didn’t want to sell anyone, but if a player asks to go then a team needs to look for a replacement.”

Lazio President Claudio Lotito is likely to accept Milan’s offer of Pasquale Foggia plus £4m in the next few days.

Regardless of his skipper’s future, Rossi is already looking ahead to the New Year – and there could be a surprise arrival in the pipeline.

“I expect a lot from Valon Behrami, who has a great talent but was stopped by an injury,” insisted the Coach.

“I have also got a sympathy for Antonio Cassano, but maybe that’s because I have never been his boss!”

With an extra £4m set to be added to the transfer budget, could we see the Brat from Bari back in Rome with his former side’s hated neighbours?

Milan Between Belletti And Oddo

The Rossoneri are currently considering two players for the role of full-back, with the Barcelona player taking the upper hand in the past hours.

It's no secret that Milan want to purchase a full-back for their aging defensive department and apparently the choice is between two players: Lazio's Massimo Oddo and Barcelona's Juliano Belletti.

Both players interest the Rossoneri, but according to the latest speculation from Spain, Belletti has taken the driver's seat to wear the Milan shirt from January.

In fact, some sources are claiming that Milan have already reached an agreement with Belletti's brother and agent, and the Rossoneri will now offer 5 million Euros to Barcelona for the deal to go through.

This would mean that the Oddo negotiations will not continue and the Italian international will remain with Lazio despite having been linked with a move to Milan for the past months.

weird...very weird...unless Milan don't want to do a 'Sheva' with Lazio and are being very altruistic towards the Lazio fans. But I suppose a fullback finds it easiest to adjust to cross continental footballing styles.

I thought Oddo didn't want to come to Milan? He'll be a decent short term solution but we need to look for someone for the future.

I think Oddo os more then decent. He is a great player the only thing working against him is his age.

He is definately better then Belletti also considering the fact thta he will be able to play in the CL

But he's only a short term solution(unless management can persuade him to play til he's 40 (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif) ), as for Belletti I think Milan are using him to pressure Lazio into selling Oddo.

Lotito stalls on Oddo

Lazio President Claudio Lotito has responded to recent speculation that Biancocelesti captain Massimo Oddo will join Milan in January.

It has been reported that Milan have tabled a part-exchange deal of around £4m and Pasquale Foggia for the Azzurri stopper’s services, but Lotito is keen to stress that no deal is done yet.

“For us Oddo is a captain, a world champion, a penalty taker, everything,” the fiery President told Rome’s Radio Radio.

Despite the admission of Coach Delio Rossi that Oddo is unhappy at the Stadio Olimpico, Lotito sounded far from resigned to losing the ex-Napoli defender.

“Of course I don’t want to sell him. He’s under contract here until 2008 and we didn’t put him on the transfer list. Any sale depends on me. Nobody’s got us by the throat, I’ll decide.”

However, Lotito did indicate that he may be looking to invest in a new generation of stars should Oddo pack his bags.

“We’ve gambled on several players who no-one else was interested in and they’ve become great players,” he declared.

“We’re not just thinking about the present, but also the future.”

The Pescara-born Oddo joined Lazio in 2002 from Verona, but started his career in the Milan youth system.

This is not bad news. He sounds "easy", unlike his previous comments... Should Milan stop being stingy and offer one or two millions more Oddo will be ours!

It's not like Foggia is so worthy for Milan... even if he had stayed I would be surprised to see him play (even with the injuries we've had). So please make the f@cking deal, it's becoming embarassing... we're not f@cking Palermo!!!!!!!!!!! That's how we do business recently...

You may not but most players out there would be disappointed by this... it shows there's no real interest and/or belief in them!! That's why Diarra / Gago / Higuain wanted Madrid; because they showed BIG interest...

Lazio want Oddo decision

Lazio president Claudio Lotito is running out of patience with captain Massimo Oddo and has demanded the defender makes a decision on his plans for the future.

The Italy World Cup squad member has been strongly linked with a move to Milan once the transfer window re-opens in January, but has not as yet made a firm decision on whether he wants to leave or not.

"I'm not aware that Lazio want to sell him, and should he want to stay here, he must be clearer about his situation," Lotito said.

The full back has previously indicated that he would be willing to stay at the Stadio Olimpico, but only if his current deal, which expires in June, is vastly improved.

The Biancocelesti had already tabled an offer, but Oddo believed it inadequate, leading to the persistent rumours linking him with Carlo Ancelotti's Milan, who are thought to be looking to bring in defensive cover for their ageing back line in the new year.

"The club will weigh up everything," Lotito continued. "Oddo has a deal with us, but it's clear that whatever we do will have the good of the team in mind, and we will take note of this.

"It must be clear that Lazio don't need the money."

Ancelotti Not In A Hurry For Oddo

Milan are currently in a mini-training camp in Malta as the club is currently looking for new players to strengthen the side in this transfer window.

Massimo Oddo is one of Milan's main targets for this transfer window and many had expected that the Lazio captain would join the Rossoneri before their departure towards Malta.

However, the negotiations are still going on and Carlo Ancelotti will be without the full-back during the training camp in the Mediterranean island.

"There's still time till the 31st of January," declared the Milan coach before his departure to Malta. "I expected to leave without him, but between me and the club everything is very clear. We'll see, in the mean time a player has already arrived, even though no one knows him: it's Grimi who is young and interesting."

Milan’s training camp will last till the 10th of January with a short return to Milan on the 6th of January for the class Trofeo Berlusconi against Juventus in program at San Siro.

Maybe because Galliani told him that Milan are close to getting him. That's the only explenation ofwhy he is confident about having Oddo.
