Milan eye Diego

Thursday 2 November, 2006 ::: channel4.com

Werder Bremen midfielder Diego is reportedly a target for Milan after his impressive start to the season.

The 21-year-old, who moved to the Bundesliga side in May 2006 from Porto, has already scored six goals in his 12 domestic and Champions League appearances.

His form saw him included in the list of 22 players called up by Brazil Coach Carlos Dunga for the upcoming friendly match with Switzerland, scheduled on November 15 in Basel.

The Werder man, capped 12 times by the Selecao, was signed by the Sao Paulo team Santos at the age of 12 and grew up in their youth team, making his debut in 2002.

He moved to Porto in 2004 in a £5m deal, but struggled to find a place in the starting line-up and was bought by Werder Bremen last summer for £4.2m, signing a contract until 2010.

The player immediately adapted to his new surroundings and has expressed his best football in the past few months, impressing his Coach Thomas Schaaf and the Milan observers.

Diego has an Italian passport as well, which makes him even more enticing for the Rossoneri, who could make a summer move to bring him to the San Siro.

Are we going to sell Kaka'? If not, why Diego?!

He's good for Werder. Not for Milan.

Diego is a great player, and I'm sure he won't stay in Bremen forever, but we have Ricky, so we don't need Diego.

If he will come I don't think it's to be a sub. Maybe we can play them together behind the striker (If Silvio approves) or something else. He will give us more tactical flexibility. For now, it's just rumors

Second striker maybe, but it would be a bit of a waste...(IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

If we choose to play with one striker again then I think he does... Maybe we can adjust him to play in Seedorf position (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/unsure.gif) He is only 21.

but we have gourcuff, i don´t think we need that diego crap, a saw him in santos and personally i don´t like him, i´d prefer sneijder for milan, if we don´t get ronaldinho (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif) , deside that, i still prefer spend a little more money in a player like oddo to reinforce our defence instead the midfield, i think we have the best midfield in the world right now just as silvio said (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/king.gif)

If ur refering to the tree, IMO, we need a lot more than a Seedorf replacment to make it work mish

Exactly, we need a Sheva type triker, not even Henry could pull it off, because he would just drift to the left for 3/4 of the game and you would be left with no one up front.

I think Sheva and Eto'o are the only ones who can make it work

True, A Sheva like striker would be the perfect complement .. but I was thinking of fullbacks, as this formation would rest a LOT of weight on them, plus defence .. We also have to be rappid on the counter .. Many more suggestions could be taken into consideration .. All you need to do is look at how we played with the formation recently ..

Yeah forgot to mention the fullbacks. I really think that we are missing Serghio a lot this season though, he might be REALLY bad defence wise, but the ammount of goals that came out of his runs and crosses, especially last season is huge, Janku might be more stable defence wise, but Serginho's runs down the flanks are really missed.

I hope he returns sooner rather then later, even if dst would like things to stay the way they are (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif)

You really can't see the influence he made to our attack?? Sure he never really contributed anything to the defence, that's true but he was probably involved in 3/4 of the goals that came from the flanks last season

I agree with han. Serginho's crosses were crucial for us last season!
