Massimo Oddo is set to leave Lazio despite being contracted until 2008, with Milan his preferred destination. Reports are claiming that the world champion had a heated argument with President Claudio Lotito after the Coppa Italia match lost against Messina on Sunday. Oddo has made no secret of his desire to leave the capital and has been courted by Milan since last spring, but Lotito insists that no firm offer has been presented by the Rossoneri. The 29-year-old, on international duty with the Azzurri at Coverciano, is preferring to not pass comment on his situation. “I am not going to speak about the summer market until August 31,†he stated. “However, you all know that the best signings are finalised at the end…†The main obstacle to the defender’s transfer now seems to be an economic one for the San Siro side. Milan, still trying to sort out a fee with Betis over Ricardo Oliveira, will have to meet Lotito’s £6m asking price. The Rossoneri, however, are allegedly willing to include 23-year-old winger Pasquale Foggia in the swoop. Coach Delio Rossi is in desperate need of a replacement for the injured Valon Behrami, who will not be available until November, and has already approved the operation. Biancocelesti chief Lotito could accept a fee of almost £3m for the right-back if Foggia arrived on loan as part of the deal. Oddo has also been courted by Liverpool, Monaco and Real Mallorca, whose bids were all rejected, and is liked by Milan boss Carlo Ancelotti given his offensive nature. source: Football Italia

guys, what we need is a good RB,his main duty being a defender and a good one...moreover we must never forget that Milan defenders are always the best....always...so why do we need cicinho when we know that his defending skills are pathetic???we all know that Oddo is an excellent defender who has the ability to attack when needed...this cicinho dude forgets that he is a defender all the time...we need someone responsible and Oddo fits in real fine....imagine Oddo to be with Cafu,Nesta and Maldini?what a defense is that?ok i agree age is a problem but ability wise...its an awesome defense....we have our midfield and forwards/strikers to attack so let the defenders do their job.so we need Oddo...moreover Oddo is Milan by heart and we need guys like him who loves to be a Milan player and who always sez so!!! Regards Renoy

QUOTE (jbryant1 @ Aug 29 2006, 11:56 PM) Problem is we have 10 defenders right now? We have a whole bench cluttered with these guys and we have a tendency in collecting defenders that are past their prime. I can understand with Maldini and Cafu, but not really for the rest of them. I would also add Billy and Serginho...nah...the only problem is that guy Favalli...

Don't get me wrong Billy is a legend and did helped us last year when our defense was in tatters. But he should have retired this season. I still like Serginho. He is a good attacking defender. I think Cincinho could do better.

Yes, Serginho can be sometimes unreliable, but he makes his defending job still way better then Cic, also his flanks are more deadlier...no, no, I would pass on Cicinho. In this case, Oddo is better...

If we had signed gallas and oddo combined with nesta and kaladze, you'd bank that defence to hold out against most. Hours are ticking away.. I'm in australia. So whats the official hours remaining for the transfer window..

Haha translaters please.. This is ridiculous. I can't believe the dealine is tomorrow, and we have nothing. I idea of Cafu and Simic doing RB is a real weak link. Cafu cna't manage the season and is well past his best, Simic has never been that good. A RB is required, and though I'd have preferred Sagnol or Zambrotta, it seems we only have a chance of Oddo. However, I am in complete agreement about Cicinho. He is merely a right winger who Real Madrid use as a RB so they can have 2 people hurtling down the wings. Yes hes fast and crosses well etc, and hed prob be a great RWF or RMF, but for the team synomomous with stonewall defences, I don't think so.

Channel4 says Milan offer Foggia on loan and 2m pounds for co-ownership of Oddo .... absolutely ridiculous!!!!!!! they do the right thing by loaning Foggia out cause there's no way both him and Yoann will be able to be tested enough in a single season but can't they just give Lolito a good 4m and get Oddo out of there??? what the f@ck is this .... this is humiliating we're bargaining for such prices???? Get the f@ck ... I'm fed up at last ... I think this is utterly disgusting for a club like Milan!!!! ... (IMG: http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/puke.gif)

That would be fine to me cause Gallas is way better then Oddo.. (IMG: http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/cool.gif)

QUOTE (Jack Sparrow @ Aug 30 2006, 08:12 PM) Damn...I'm convinced now...Silvio is saving for R10...no other explanation Not saving up .. Milan is always concidered the favourites wether we play Bayern, Real, Man U, etc ... And to be a favourite when playing these teams means something .. And who was behind all this; Silvio Berlusconi, he took the team from flat out broke to a team that always put out a strong side. With that said, Berlusconi has the power to convince ANY player to sign for him, not Braida not Galliani, but him and ONLY him. Can you name me any other club that Ronaldinho would go to ? Stay with Barca ?! For what ?! This is the second time they have raised the CL in their history and never had a real chance with the league, (excluding the season that they got the league) .. Barca just made it into the first seed spot in the UEFA ranking .. Which isnt that impressive for a player like Ronaldinho. I personally thought he would go to Real Madrid this summer, but wasn't surprised that Milan would want to haul him in, why not we got as much international cups as Real Madrid; but are, realistically speaked, sporting wise are far better than them ! .. After all, what is Berlusconi's use anyway if he cant be convincing enough to bring in the BIG boys down to Milanello ?! Milan can sign Ronaldinho, Buffon, Ronaldo, Oliveira and Sobis, Oddo, Diarra, Drogba, Crespo, Ibrahimovic, Gallas ... ALL in a snap of a finger. Prove me wrong ? Cuz the history of Berlusconi since 1986 with this club has convinced me that they are up for it. With that said, everything happens for a reason, and Milan better have a damn good one (IMG: http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/wink.gif) Silvio Berlusconi, and you can mark my words on this, will give the fans something worthwhile to open up the champaine and go all out crazy by the time he's done with the market (IMG: http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/king.gif)

QUOTE (pKillerMax @ Aug 30 2006, 09:48 PM) Because Ronaldinho said he is staying there for years to come! Because Barca said he ain't going no where and because Berlusconi said he is an impossible dream because he is NOT for sale! Well .. So ? What's wrong with that ? .. Zidane moved from Juve to Madrid .. Ronaldo from Inter to Madrid .. And they all stated that they'll play on for their respected clubs, well the latter not that respected, for years to come. Am I missing Shevchenko who just recently stated he was gonna stay for yrs to come ? Or Luis Figo from Barcalona to Madrid ?! This happens in football .. You just have to weight it out bro, Milan has the upper-hand. Ronaldinho needs a new challenge, that's what these stars do .. Their aim is the best clubs in Europe. Although Barca is good, achievment wise, they are no match for Milan .. Which is why I am so convinced Ronaldinho will take a step up the ladder and play at an even better club AC Milan. I had exactly the same thought as u .. say two days ago, but suddenly I'm convinced that it is the only sain way that Milan can justify their dealings in the market

Apperantly Foggia has moved to Lazio. I don't know if it's on loan or full-ownership. If this is true then Oddo will surely be ours by tomorrow

Yeah I'm sure that to Silvio that ammount of money is equivilant to what you and I find in between our couch cushions. I don't know why they are being so cheap this summer. The only reason for this is Ronaldinho in my oppinion. Because if they are to get him next season then a MEGA offer needs to be put on the table for him

And Milan have made an offer to Lazio twice already about him, this was confirmed by the Lazio management

QUOTE (X-Offender @ Aug 30 2006, 11:43 PM) F@ck Ronaldinho, I don't want him. With those money we could buy Torres, Oliveira and Gallas, who would be much useful than the almighty Ronnie. Torres I don't know, he just doesn't strike me as someone that could make it in serie A, his scoring record isn't even that impressive and he is playing in SPAIN not Italy. Oliveira and Gallas sure we need them but would you seriously reject Ronnie if he was offered to you? i think our management know that next season practically the whole team will need a total overhaul (except for the midfield) Our defence will be considerably thinned out with all the retireing players, Boriello will definately not be here for long neither will amoroso. I think they are trying to save up for next year so they can rebuild the team, not fron the ground up, but make it young and fresh again. And Ronnie fits in Silvio's plans, infact I think that he will be the thing at which Silvio's plans will revolve around, you'lle see that by the 07/08 season there will be a new young and fresh Milan

Did Vogel really go to Betis, I thought that the thing that was holding us back is that Vogel wanted the same wage he had with Milan and Betis only wanted to give him half of what he was earning. But yeah if that is really what happens then someone really needs to examine their heads over at Milanello

Torres's goal scoring record is better than many strikers we have been linked with. He also proved how talented he is in the WC. He has scored 64 in 140 games and he has done that playing for Atletico as the supporting striker! He is sheer talent and he will make it where ever he goes. I have no doubt. 2. Ronaldinho would be great, but he is not the answer to all our problems. Not to mention he is utterly expensive and I doubt we will buy 2 world class strikers and defenders in the same year. Unless Milan is willing to spend about 150 million Euros in one year! (IMG: http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/ohmy.gif) Even if want to buy R10 for next year, we should have bought a defender and a striker so we can actually win something this year and that would mean more money. Plus a dramatic overhaul wouldn't be such a good idea as it takes away the unity of the squad.

QUOTE (han2503 @ Aug 31 2006, 12:51 AM) i think our management know that next season practically the whole team will need a total overhaul (except for the midfield) Our defence will be considerably thinned out with all the retireing players, Boriello will definately not be here for long neither will amoroso. I think they are trying to save up for next year so they can rebuild the team, not fron the ground up, but make it young and fresh again. And Ronnie fits in Silvio's plans, infact I think that he will be the thing at which Silvio's plans will revolve around, you'lle see that by the 07/08 season there will be a new young and fresh Milan Yes, it seems to me this is it (IMG: http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) .

QUOTE (pKillerMax @ Aug 31 2006, 12:05 AM) 1. I know that there will be side effects to it but a complete overhaul especially of our defence will be inevitable. At least 2 world class defenders will have to come in, either a RB or a LB (depending on wether we buy Oddo or not) and a CB, not to mention that we will have to buy some subs. And about the financial aspect of it, Silvio has already said that if he where to get the chance in buying Ronaldinho he would be ready to make any financial sacrifices in order to get him.

I'd like Ronaldinho but I think Silvio is not giving Kaka the credit he deserves (IMG: http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/sad.gif) Gaucho is just a better entertainer and not a better player than Ricky. That said Silvio looks like a Roman emperor and San Siro is his arena or something!!!!

Just something I felt that should be added...about Oddo...I really don`t understand people who give him so much praise. I watched the Italy match tonight - Oddo made numerous crosses, not a single reached his target. They were either to strong or simply unprecise (deflected by the first defending player). You say his attacking skills are no that good...but I did not see any defensive skills either. I mean, come on, against some Lithuanian players he acted a couple of times very week, and Cannavaro had to deal with the problem. I know, not everything should be based on one match only, but I saw him many times earlier and also wasn`t that impressed. I cannot lose that feeling that he is very overrated here...some people seem not to be happy even with Ronaldinho, but all embrace Oddo at once. But I really don`t see him as that good... (IMG: http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/cool.gif) He's not that good but we'll need Oddo's defence more this year than Cafu's attacking skills I fear. He's not overrated; People want him because we have a problem at RB while we can do amazingly well without Ronaldinho.I think it is simple. Also Oddo has rarely played a game with those teammates he had tonight ... anyway he's not anything special but we needed him and he could come for a Berlusconi breakfast if you get what I mean ... apparently he wasn't willing to pay even that!!!! I hope at least he does so last year - with any good RB - which I doubt considering what he'll have to pay to bring Gaucho over. I fear not even Costacurta and Maldini will be replaced ... I think you meant Grosso there (IMG: http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/wink.gif) And you're totally right, after the summer ended I can't tell you how many times I've heard how lucky Inter are because they got him, including in here. And when I hear it I just have to laugh, he didn't even have that much of a good world cup, he only did 3 things that could be called useful and those where winning the penalty against the Aussies, the goal against the Germans and scoring the penalty, other then that he wasn't good going forward and he wasn't good in defence, we just didn't conceede because of errors from his side because Cannavaro seemed to be in super human mode. Imo Zambrotta should have played on the left and Oddo on the right in that world cup, the Palermo boys (especially Zaccardo) should not have been called up. Oddo is good defensively, I saw the game tonight, he made a lot of good interceptions, and he and Rino where working well together and he made some good crosses. btw did you see Cassano tonight, he was simply amazing. I'm beginning to think that we should have tried for him instead of Ronaldo when we where negotiating with Real. He seems like he has lost the weight and you can't deny how talented he is. Oh and I can't get over how unlucky Gila is. MAN!!! When he came on he had that header cleared off the line and I thought WOW, what's wrong with this guy?

Lippi must have either been some kind of Palermo fan when he was young or he is really good friends with the Palermo president. Those are the only reasons I can think of, why he would choose Zaccardo over Oddo. And you're right about the problem that we have at RB, Cafu' is tecnically our ONLY RB and he is 36 years old. At LB we have serginho who I think is still very useful for us, (even if dst doesn't seem to think so) we have Janku, Favalli (if there is some kind of major emergency he is good, only if the emergency is major) and Maldini can still play there if needed. Oh and Oddo is the same age as the English student, sure he isn't that young anymore but for a defender I say he is still at a good age.

(IMG: http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/cool.gif) Oddo made some pinpoint crosses , especially in the end of the first half. And come on he only hit the ball really hard once. But I agree with you in the last few minutes he was working in a lot of space and didn't really do anything, I guess he got a bit tired because he was the only one making the runs and trying to cross, because on the left side nothing was happening, so he had to take all the attacking responsability, and he is not that much attack-minded he is more defensive.

QUOTE (dst @ Sep 2 2006, 10:34 PM) Yes I know he played only once, still, he was in that team and at least practiced with them a lot, so we cannot say that the players/defenders today were strange to him...Also it seems to me Lippi had not much faith in Oddo. So he used Zaccardo, but soon recognized his qualities and awarded him with a prime bench seat. Still, for the RB we should find someone more suitable... Well DP wasn't that much of a big surprise that he was ther, he was always Lippi's favourite, and I did think he deserved it a bit, he had a good season at Juve, even if he almost never played, and from the friendlies he had played he had proved that he could still be useful to the team. The big joke I think was Iaquinta, how many goals did he score last season? And they where all from penalties. And Lippi always played him OVER PIPPO, that should be reason enough to question his ways QUOTE (dst @ Sep 2 2006, 09:53 PM) On the Serginho issue; I'm not saying he is not useful to us. All I'm saying is that we can't field both Silvio's boy and Cafu at the same time no more. It has to be one of them and you know Serginho won't be benched (and rightfully between the two - Oh Janku's gonna have another miserable year). Yeah that is what I was saying a few days ago, those 2 can't play with eachother, I think the best solution would be to play Bonera when playing Serginho and Janku when playing Cafu', we look at the team we are going to play against and see where their week spot is, if it's their left side we use Cafu, if it's their right sied we use Serginho. Simple as that. Like for example in bayern game, it was so obvious how week their right side was, Serginho was tearing threw them and making a lot of dangerous crosses which resulted in 2 goals. Not with Capello they don't!!! So good tohear that someone else agrees with me that Cappello isn't useful anymore, too predictable, too defensive, the serie A teams even the minnows managed to figure him out after 2 games, I'm expecting the same thing to happen in Spain

QUOTE (dst @ Sep 2 2006, 11:01 PM) Well...that`s why he did won the WC. You know, if you or me were the coaches, we would play Gila, Pippo, Oddo (nah...I suppose I would found an excuse to send him on the bench)...but we would not won the tournement. QUOTE (dst @ Sep 2 2006, 11:01 PM) Repeating; Oddo would only be a 3m EUR (= 2 games in San Siro) temporary solution!!! What harm could he have done!!??? Right. Just as a short term solution. That would be allright with me... (IMG: http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

QUOTE (Rossoneri7 @ Sep 2 2006, 10:03 PM) I hope that too; actually I hoped that in every game that he played for us last season .. !!!! He better .. Cuz I don't think 17 goals is enough for a first team striker in Milan .. !! Gila just has some kind of curse on him, I'm sure of it, after I saw his header being cleared off the line tonghit I'm more convinced about this

QUOTE (Rossoneri7 @ Sep 3 2006, 01:30 AM) I said this b4 he's too arrogant .. he needs to losen a bit and enjoy the game. What does he think he is the next Van Basten to be that arrogant ?! QUOTE (Fillipo Simone @ Sep 3 2006, 01:25 AM) Strong words dst...but you speak the truth!! Look... I was actually looking for that pic. ... he looks like he's thinking: "Oh my I'm a f@cking mother nature's miracle, what the f@ck did I do again ... applaud people applaud!!!" QUOTE (han2503 @ Sep 3 2006, 01:32 AM) Come on Gila always does that (that facial expression) even when he misses a good chance. I think we talked about this before and we came to the conclusion that he has a facial defect (IMG: http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/wink.gif) yes but were just kidding ... I was ... wasn't you!??? (IMG: http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/unsure.gif) QUOTE (han2503 @ Sep 3 2006, 01:32 AM) Oh and you know Pippo is unique, I don't think there is any other striker that celebrates that entusiastically as he does... ..."Mommy those kids took my ball away agaaaaaaaaaain (IMG: http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/cry.gif) "

QUOTE (Rossoneri7 @ Sep 3 2006, 07:47 AM) He's too young now .. He might be under the influence over how BIG his father is at Milan and is showing promise as for the Maldini legacy in Milan. But still, he's too young, for all we know he might turn out to be a hockey player (IMG: http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/huh.gif) (IMG: http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif) Still, I feel it's still early, cz by that time, I don't think Berlusconi would still be incharge .. *Damn the ideas that go through my head are crazy* .. We might get inbeded into Corporate American (no offence, but) and turn out like Man U with Glazer. That would be a nightmare !!! (taking into concideration that the #3 shirt will be given away sooner, rather than l8r for marketing reasons..) doesnt it say on the official website under the new numbers article that Kaka will wear number 3?
