Chelsea striker Hernan Crespo is on the verge of rejoining Italian giants Inter, reports on Monday are insisting. Speculation in the peninsula suggests that agent Fernando Hidalgo has already agreed terms with the Nerazzurri and will now tempt the London club to release the want-away ace. Inter are trying to net the South American on a free loan with an option to buy outright next summer, but the Premiership champions would prefer to sell outright immediately. Crespo, now an Italian citizen after he picked up his EU passport on Friday, is certain to leave Chelsea and has made clear his intention of returning to Italy. Inter, for whom he scored 16 goals in 30 games during 2002-03, have been consistently associated as they look to boost their striking options given the difficulties in signing Luca Toni from Fiorentina. There are also reports which suggest that Inter’s market men Marco Branca and Lele Oriali will meet Stamford Bridge officials today as the club take on Watford in an England friendly this week. However, Milan are monitoring the situation and haven’t totally given up hope of signing the former Parma man. It’s understood that boss Carlo Ancelotti, who coached him at the Tardini and at the San Siro during his 2004-05 loan spell with the Rossoneri, phoned his former pupil over the weekend. Nevertheless, Milan will only make a concrete bid for the player if they overcome Red Star Belgrade to qualify for the Champions League proper. Fiorentina are also said to be interested in the forward as a replacement for Toni who is expected to clarify his position in a crisis meeting with President Diego Della Valle on Tuesday. Inter and Milan have also been heavily linked with the Juventus duo of Zlatan Ibrahimovic and David Trezeguet. The first will definitely leave the Serie B club after refusing to play in a friendly on Friday, while Trez is set for crunch talks this week. channel4

Hmm...I'm not surprised that he's joining Inter...after all he's Argetninian, and I we will go for Ibrahimovic as our new striker, so no chance for Crespo...

I couldnt believe this when I heard it on Sky Sports news. Apparently, Chelsea will have the option to take him back after one year, but apart from that it was a free transfer.
How on earth could we have missed out on this? Free is cheap enough for Milan's current tastes, we know he can cut it in Italy, and whats worst is hes gone to our greatest rivals now Inter, who unquestionably get stronger by the day.
I find this very concerning. If Ancelotti or anyone else thinks we can mount any kind of serious bid for the league or CL the first -8 points, with just 3 strikers, one of which is old and injur-prone, another who has a worrying problem in Europe and the other who isn't of a standard to be at Milan in the first place is living on cloud cuckoo land.
Now, Milan will have to either table a decent bid for Trezeguet, or try something they havnt in a long while it seems, and go for someone who isnt already effectively transfer listed, ie Tevez.
All I can say is that I really hope that Burlusconi and co have something very big up their sleeves.

QUOTE (Portugal @ Aug 7 2006, 04:03 PM) We need a player like Zlatan. Not like Crespo. For that we have Pippo-Gila. For Inter... good, so no Luca Toni or Zlatan. (IMG: http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) Yes but which option would you prefer for our striking quadruplets. Ibra, Gila, Pippo and Crespo or Ibra, Gila, Pippo and Amoroso

QUOTE (han2503 @ Aug 7 2006, 04:39 PM) Yes but which option would you prefer for our striking quadruplets. Ibra, Gila, Pippo and Crespo or Ibra, Gila, Pippo and Amoroso The first one, obvious. But I think if that 4 stay, someone will get mad for staying so much time benched. If it is Amoroso or Borrielo, cmon... one was bought to be the 4th... the other is a young one. I'll be happy with the Inzaghi, Ibrahimovic, Gilardino & Borriello. But I think Borriello will not stay. Amoroso is the 4th for Carletto.

thought the b!tch would do something like this..he did say he didn't care whether it was inter or milan. In any case...Milan were never gonna table a bid till they pass Red Star...guess he couldn't wait that long...well g'bye crespo.
I'm inclined to think this means they can't get Luca Toni...but suppose we could get Toni...would we want him?

Toni scored that much for Fiorentina because he is the one they look for for the goods, they don't have 2 strikers.

QUOTE (Nova @ Aug 7 2006, 03:19 PM) no, not very much at all i have to say at first i was a bit disapointed that he would choose inter over us...but like others have already said...as much as i love crespo he is still old and i would rather get another youthful striker in here.
