William Gallas' future at Chelsea would appear to be in doubt as The Blues have confirmed he has not linked up with the squad on their pre-season tour of United States. Gallas was informed by Blues officials that he would be required to join up with his team-mates at the start of August, but he did not make the trip. Chelsea have insisted that the France international defender has acted against their wishes and could be subject to club sanctions at a later date. "William Gallas will not be joining up with Chelsea FC on the pre-season tour of the United States," said the club in a statement on ChelseaTV. "Gallas was due to join the team with the other Chelsea players who participated in the World Cup semi-finals and final. "William requested extra time off following the World Cup but was informed he should still report to Los Angeles on the date previously agreed with him. He did not report and further action will now be considered by the club as a consequence. "Pre-season training and the tour is about building team spirit among our squad and extra leave is only granted for valid football-related reasons. "Discussions between Chelsea and William about a new contract are already well documented and ongoing. He has one year left on his current contract." Gallas stated earlier in the summer that he wanted to move on from Stamford Bridge and it remains to be seen if he will figure in Jose Mourinho's plans in the new term. skysports

He won't come, read what he said after the world cup final, I don't think he's much of a fan of anything Italian at the moment, I think that he will either join Arsenal in exchange for Ashley Cole (big rumors going on about this) or go to spain if he doesn't stay in England, although he did say he wanted a new challenge outside the premier league so I'm guessing it will be spain (I'm wondering why there are no reports linking him to Real, like every other player that is over 30, although he isn't over 30 he is close)

The reason why he is acting the way he is because he has asked chelsea countless times to sell him but they won't let him go. He doesn't wanr to play there, but those selfish b@st@rds won't let him leave even though his contract will expire next year and they will eventually lose him on a free transfer, they don't care, they just want to have their last say in the whole thing

William Gallas' future at Chelsea is increasingly uncertain after manager Jose Mourinho took away his lucky No 13 squad number and gave it to new signing Michael Ballack. Unlucky for some: William Gallas in his No 13 shirt The gesture looks certain to provoke a row that will last long into the season and only adds to the sense of drama that seems to follow Chelsea everywhere. It has certainly followed them to the United States, where Gallas is already in Mourinho's bad books after failing to turn up for Chelsea's pre-season training camp in Los Angeles, choosing to stay on holiday instead. The central defender expected a fine for that 'misunderstanding' but was not prepared for an additional snub in which Chelsea pointedly took away his squad number and gave it to another player. Ballack, who wore No 13 for Bayern Munich and Bayer Leverkusen, asked to keep the number when he first joined the club in May, but was given No 19 instead. But it appears Mourinho had a change of heart two days ago when he realised Gallas, who has been Chelsea's No 13 since joining from Marseille in 2001, would not be arriving in America. "Initially I wanted the 13 shirt and I was sad because it had already been taken," Ballack revealed. "I had accepted No 19 but two days ago the coach came and said okay, it's fine for you to have the 13 after all." Gallas' agent, Pierre Frelot, said he was shocked by the sequence of events. "It is not possible for them to give Ballack the No 13 shirt without talking to William first. William has been wearing that number for five years and it is the shirt he expects to be in. "As far as we are concerned William's absence is still a misunderstanding. I am very surprised they haven't waited to hear the explanation of the player in person first before releasing a statement and taking action against him. We will meet with Chelsea on Friday to have a serious talk about it, but I can't say whether this will affect William signing a new contract." Gallas is due to join his team-mates on Monday, in time for a pre-season friendly against Feyenoord the following day, and Chelsea still want him to sign a new four-year, £70,000-a-week contract. telegraph

Yes it sure is very rude and hopefully will aggrivate the chances of him leaving the club, but we have to take one thing into consideration, Mr.Braida said that he still has " ONE " more transfer suprise left for the unique Milan fans; which means that if we take Gallas then we won't be replacing sheva, not that Gallas is bad but we really need a forward. Because I strongly believe eventhough Gila,Inzhagi and Amorouso are all great strikers they just can't play the role sheva had ( forward ) !!! (IMG: http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/goodheart.gif) and we badly need another sheva !! I was just watching the Lyon-Milan highlites and if you guys remember it was shevchenko who was the one in the end who saved us. both goals.and im sure this was not the only time. BUT hey you never konw we might just even buy more than one player, that would be great !!!

Arsenal or AC Milan for World Cup star? So where will William Gallas play his football next season? It would seem that AC Milan, Arsenal or even Manchester United would be a more favoured option than his present club Chelsea, but of course Chelsea are in a financial position to make an example of the player even if they would lose him for nothing in a years time.Jose Mourinho has criticized Gallas after he failed to report for Chelsea's pre-season training earlier this week. While the Chelsea squad have been training in Los Angeles since Monday Gallas did not show up and join the rest of the team, and it is exactly a secret that the 28-year old had requested a move away from Stamford Bridge earlier this year. To add fuel to the fire the defender's number 13 shirt has been given to German midfielder Michael Ballack, which further increased speculation that the Frenchman will be leaving the club. Mourinho reacted to the player's absence stating, ‘'everybody is upset because we had a strong family and a strong group and this has shown a lack of respect to everybody and I don't like that.'' ''It's not only me that is upset - we're all upset,'' Pierre Frelot represents Gallas and issued a statement explaining the player's situation, he said, ‘'As far as we are concerned William's absence from training is still a misunderstanding.'' ''I am surprised they haven't waited to hear the explanation of the player in person first before releasing a statement and taking action against him.'' The agent of course doesn't want to rock the boat, but Gallas would surely have Mourinho's mobile number and could have called to clarify any misunderstanding should he have wished to. The whole thing would appear to surround Gallas' unwillingness to continue to cover at left-back when his preferred position is centre-back. The simple solution would appear to be for Gallas to be part of the deal that may take Ashley Cole to Stamford Bridge as Arsenal could require some experience at centre-back considering the release of Sol Campbell. However, Gallas has allegedly shown preference to try another League and it did seem that Italy (Juventus and AC Milan) would be his destination until the match-fixing scandal erupted. Nevertheless, now that AC Milan has been re-introduced to the Champions League they may now be the favourites to sign him. Is it really a coincidence that their re-admission has coincided with Gallas not joining the Chelsea squad in the US? Furthermore, Mourinho would not really like Gallas to go to an immediate competitor like Arsenal, or even Manchester United, but with money allegedly still to burn Sir Alex Ferguson would surely be interested should the defender become available, although he really needs reinforcements further forward. However, considering the Ashley Cole situation Gallas would most likely move to Arsenal if he was to stay in this country. He has been linked with The Gunners on several occasions over the last few years and now most Arsenal fans are resigned to the fact Cole will probably leave, they will most likely be quite happy that another player is brought in to a position that they would appear to have less strength in than the one vacated by the England international. Of course if Gallas has no wish to play for Arsenal then this could explain the delay in Cole being allowed to leave for Chelsea. Arsene Wenger has stated that he will announce Cole in his squad, and probably the team, for the game against Croatia Zagreb next week, and this could force Mourinho's hand as the Chelsea boss would not want his perspective capture illegible from European football. Many Arsenal fans have pinpointed Gallas as the perfect make-weight (plus loads of cash) for the Cole deal, and the next few days may throw some more light on the situation. Strangely though, Mourinho (The Special One) may have missed out on a few important facts. Statistics show that when Gallas plays with John Terry at the centre of defence Chelsea concede fewer goals per game than when Terry is partnered by Ricardo Carvalho. Admittedly the figures are quite low in either case, but they may provide an insight as to why Gallas is so disgruntled? victorpredictor

Ok so is this some indication of where he is headed to, because since we and Arsenal seem to be the most likely pair and Gallas has said that he wants to play in a new league to have a different challenge then I would say that we are in pole position on this one, hope I'm right, we could really use Gallas, not only is he versatile but very solid also. If we manage to get him our problems in defense could be solves if we overlook the RB thing a bit since we still have Cafu and Simic there and Bonera can also play as right back. In gallas we would have a very solid CB but also have a very solid and effective LB if we have an imergancy in that department.
Do you think I could E-mail my transfer wish list to Braida, I only want like 5 players. Boffun (although very unlikely, but I am allowed to want thing that I can't get aren't I? ), Gallas and Oddo, I think are must and I believe that they aren't only on my wish list but a lot of you here would want them also and Ibra or Diarra(+Crespo if we get Diarra), if we get Ibra there is no need for Diarra since we would be playing with 2 strikers, but if we don't get Zlatan Diarra would be needed and with Diarra I would also try to get Crespo so we could rotate him more with Pippo and Gila

Except playing anywhere other than CB makes him have a hissy fit. To be honest, an (almost) 29 year-old with a bad attitude isn't what we need.

It isn't like that Mourinho always played him at LB and since he is a CB I can understand why he isn't too happy that he is constantly played there, and he doesn't wan't to leave because of that he said do himself, first they didn't want to negotiate a new contract with him with better pay and then they didn't want to negotiate a new one with the same ammount of money he was already getting. But when they thought that they where ready to start negotiating with him, he said that he had had enough and didn't want to stay there and that he also wanted to experiance playing in a new league. I'm sure that he won't have a "hissy fit" just for being played as a LB a couple of times during a whole season, What is it about him that makes you dislike him, because every post you made about him is very negative, we should be happy to get him he is a player we desperately need

QUOTE Latest News: Arsenal Set For Double Swap Deal
As the transfer window draws closer to being slammed shut it appears Arsenal's wantaway duo of Ashley Cole and Jose Antonio Reyes will get their wishes.
The most likely of the deals to go through is Jose Antonio Reyes' move to Real Madrid on a season long loan with Julio Baptista going the other way, also on loan for one season.
However, after leaving England's training camp earlier this evening it is believed Ashley Cole will get his desired move to Chelsea with William Gallas moving across London along with a wad of cash.
We'll keep you up-to-date on the progress of these deals.
Goal Baptista is a joke ... Reyes is mediocre so ... this is a ghost deal for Madrid??? anyway I couldn't care less I just hope Gallas stays with Chelsea and we buy him next year!!!!

QUOTE Breaking News: Cole - Gallas Swap Also Goes ThroughThe much publicized Ashley Cole - William Gallas swap between London rivals Chelsea and Arsenal also went through, to conclude an action packed final day in the transfer market. The arch-rivals are said to have shaken hands with barely enough time to get the paper-work done, but a joint statement confirmed that all had ended well for the parties concerned. "Chelsea FC and Arsenal have agreed terms for the transfers of Ashley Cole and William Gallas," read the statement released by the two clubs. "Chelsea will also pay Arsenal £5m. Both players have agreed personal terms and passed their respective medicals." Both the players had wanted out of their respective clubs since early in the summer. However, Mourinho had wanted to hold onto Gallas for his experience and versatility in defense, while Wenger had been unwilling to sell Cole for anything less than an astronomical amount of money. Common sense seems to have prevailed with barely hours to go to the transfer deadline, with both coaches opening the door to the swap, instead of forcing clearly disillusioned players to turn out for their old club. The £5 million, while more realistic, is however, a lot less that the amount of cash that one would have thought would accompany Gallas across the city, and indicates that Chelsea had the upper hand in the negotiations when push came to shove. At leisure, Arsenal will surely regret having turned down a typical Chelsea bid in the region of £25 million a few weeks ago. QUOTE (pKillerMax @ Sep 2 2006, 08:48 PM) Well Baptista definitely has a better goal scoring record than Reyes! They both played for Seville, so this is a great way to compare the two: Reyes (Sevilla): 86 caps, 22 goals Baptista (Sevilla): 89 caps, 51 goals (IMG: http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/wink.gif) both played for great clubs; Reyes managed to play good and was selected for the WC while Baptista rarely played in Madrid, a team that loves Brazilians, and was left out of the WC!!!! The point is you'd better tell who's better now that they switched teams. You may judge who's great and who's not at the highest level; as Portugal says Pauleta may be NT'S first all-time scorer but for God's sake he can't play at that level!!!! QUOTE Chelsea Football Club has the following statement on William Gallas to explain the circumstances behind his departure. These include his refusal to play for the team, and if selected, a threat to score an own goal. The statement says: Chelsea FC believes it is important for our supporters to be made aware of the full facts regarding William Gallas and the lack of respect he showed to the fans, the manager and the club. Despite leaving he continues to attack José Mourinho and this cannot be left unchallenged. Chelsea made William Gallas a very substantial and attractive new contract offer to stay towards the end of last season. This was rejected. The issue was purely one of money, despite his public comments that he wanted a new challenge, to play abroad and so forth. These were just a smokescreen to cover up the fact he was hawking himself to the highest bidder. Having failed to secure his demands, his position became increasingly intransigent and unacceptable. He initially refused to play against Liverpool in the FA Cup semi-final last season in an effort to force an increased contract offer. As is now well documented he refused to join up with the team in Los Angeles during pre-season, despite agreeing the dates for his return as the other World Cup players did, with the club. When José Mourinho generously offered him a way back into the "family" after the American tour, this was thrown back in the Chelsea manager's face. The manager told him that, even if he did not agree a new contract but returned to the "family" and abided by the rules, he would still select the best players available and would not punish him playing wise. However despite meetings to try and resolve the problems Gallas made it clear to José Mourinho he would never play for Chelsea again. Before the first game of the season against Manchester City, when only four defenders were available and John Terry was doubtful with an injury, he refused to play. He went on to threaten that if he was forced to play, or if he was disciplined and financially punished for his breach of the rules, that he could score an own goal or get himself sent off, or make deliberate mistakes. Clearly this was a totally unacceptable situation for the manager, the team and the club. Chelsea's interests had to be protected and a solution was collectively agreed. If a satisfactory deal for Chelsea could be found, Gallas would be sold. If that did not happen it was agreed by all that Gallas would have to fulfil the terms of his contract. Chelsea has a wage structure in place that is valued not only on the contribution of the player to the manager and the team, but also on a player’s respect for the club and contribution to the promotion and image of the club off the field. Every player is expected to play their part in this. William Gallas rarely recognised these responsibilities. He also failed to recognise the role José Mourinho and Chelsea played in helping him become a double Premiership champion for a player whose only league title prior to that had been in the French Second Division. linkIf all this true I'm glad that he is won't play for Milan this season and I hope he never will.

QUOTE (mishale @ Sep 5 2006, 12:01 AM) He offered him to get back to the team and talked many times about wanting Gallas on the team. Gallas is all about money and has crappy character. Don't make it about Mourinho. Gallas said he wanted to leave, Mourinho asked him to stay and when he insisted Mourinho said on public that he'll have no problem to have him next to him on the bench the whole year through!!! It's not that Gallas is my kinda guy or what but he clearly stated he wanted to leave and they treated him like sh1t!!! so f@ck them!!!

I think he treated the club like sh!t with only one goal - money. I'm not surprised I just said that if he did all that with just money on his mind then we don't need that kind of players here.

I detest him as much as his former club!!!!They're both full of sh1t ... noone's to blame less IMO!!!

QUOTE (mishale @ Sep 4 2006, 10:38 PM) Gallas is still trashing Mourinho even tho all he want is more money . Gallas is to blame more IMO. Greedy b@stard I don`t know...but I have the opposite feeling. Mourinho has problems with Gallas, Drogba, Carvalho, etc. In my opinion he is a bit insane, and the whole club atmosphere there is also sick. Just let them play their boring football, and the first loss that comes will result more victims. I woudln`t be suprised if Jose blames Sheva after they fail in the CL once more....
