Given how much debate over the merits of various players rages around here, I thought I'd pull it all into one thread with the simple question: Who has proven you wrong, and who were you spot on about?

I'll give my examples as a clue so you know what I'm on about.

I was right:

Huntelaar. You knew I'd mention him first (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) I didn't want him to join over Fabiano, and sadly his time at Milan has justified my lack of faith in him. He had a horrible 2 month spell in the team where he looked absolutely hideous and incapable, and has barely featured since then. A waste of money and here's hoping we can get a decent sum so everyone, himself included, can move on.

Ronaldinho. I was almost on my own in supporting Ron - as I've mentioned, my opinion of him earned me abuse from supposed Rossoneri from a board I used to be on. And now he's clearly won over everyone else too. Even when I joined here, opinion about Ron was divided at best, but I am proud to say I stood in the minority and told you guys he was class and would come good. And now, just like the season before last, he's arguably one of Serie A's best players.

Seedorf. A source of strange criticism, Clarence is someone who I changed my negative opinion about permanently when he was our clear best player during the Calciopolo season. Capable of match changing magic (his influence on the Marseille game won us it), and criminally under-rated, there are fears from many that he won't make the derby. That's fear that once upon a time never existed.

Dida. I never stopped believing in his ability, and while Storari excelled given a chance, Dida was always our best goalie. Unfairly rejected by Carlo, then despised by too many of our own fans, while ol' Nelson makes the odd error, so do the very best, and he's without doubt our best keeper and deserving of his slot.

I was wrong:

Ambrosini. If ever a player turned mediocrity on its head it's this guy - from totally average and cumbersome in the middle of the park, he now dominates the DM area. A great worker who's produced world class displays this year, he's one of the first names on the team sheet. He proved me wrong. But so did the next guy...

Borriello. I swore he was out of his depth. That he could do it for Genoa but didn't have the mentality for a big club like Milan. How wrong was I - a MVB-esque volley against Siena summed up his renaissance - he's doing it against everyone now, and even his goal-less display against Juve was the classic one man up front alone display. Dare I say it, the once feeble Marco now looks world class and a serious bet for South Africa.

Pirlo. Having done zilch since the world cup I was sure he was finished - his displays of the last few months prove that isn't the case - he's been pulling the strings in midfield and dominating as he did in his younger days. He's also added exceptional skill on the ball and trickery to his armoury, making him currently one of the best midfielders of his type around.

Silva. I kinda liked him at the start, but then started to feel he looked nervous and shaky, and lacked dominance at the back. Nowadays he's forming a watertight partnership with Nesta and looks far more composed and assured.

I'll just pick 2 for each.

Right

Ambrosini - I'm pretty sure I don't really need to comment on this guy at all. I don't think many, if any, have defended him like I have over the years, I've always rated him very highly. He's now captain of a Milan side which looks like it could take the title, playing a huge part in the teams success so far.

Zambrotta - I felt we got ripped off by Barca for an aging player who'd been playing very poorly. Now he's an even older player who is playing poorly. I would love to him to get back to his best, but it seems a long way behind him and I never really expected much from him at all.

(I would also add this. I remember the morning where we 'signed' Suazo and I was very against it, I really didn't think he was worth signing. He then joined Inter and failed.)

Wrong

Dida - I used to mock this guy to no end and thought he was done after the Celtic incident. But the Madrid game aside, he's been fantastic since he's returned to the nets and, while not back to his former self, he's a very competent keeper who is worthy of our #1 spot.

Ronaldinho - I pretty much felt the same about Ronnie as I did Zambrotta. Past his best, terrible price to pay for him. He also had one thing that Zambrotta didn't, a horrible attitude. While there's still been a few cases of him partying when he shouldn't, he's been okay in terms of behaviour and outstanding on the field. Long may it continue.

Why do you care about this stuff so much? You're obsessed with being right. Anyway...

Right

Ronaldinho: he had a mediocre first season which is exactly what I expected from him.

Wrong

Ronaldinho: he's being great again consistently and I never thought he'd be anything but average for the rest of his career.

Kurt: he's a bigger idiot than I thought.

and many more wrong judgements.

I think everybody but Tennie and Locke should have Ambro in their 'wrong' section, personally..

I think everybody including you, Tennie and Locke should too. Ambrosini is only now as good as you've been saying he was.

The rest of us never thought he can be this good though.

Right:

Can't help but say Ambrosini, can I?

Wrong:

dst, I actually thought he was male for a while.

Nesta: Iv'e never doubted his abilties, but after last season I thought he was pretty much finished.

Dinho: Still a terrible professional, but on his day (which are rather frequent nowadays), he's an absolute beast.

@dst, you know I'l only kidding, right love? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

Oh that's just great sweetheart! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/dry.gif) I fight for you and this is how you repay me. I hate you. We're officially over. Fug off... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/realmad.gif)

Right:

Ambro: Always believed he was a good player. He was the reason we mounted that challenge in 07 CL.

Pirlo: I mean doh! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/huh.gif)

Beckham: (IMG:style_emoticons/default/cool.gif) Nyah nyah nyah nyah nyaaaah nyah! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif)

Zee: Been a fan of turtle power for a long time....

Abate: Still a RMF at best...not RB. He'll take another 2 or 3 years. Too linear. He should spend his waking hours watching A.Cole videos on youtube before heading to the training ground. He can be almost that good.

Not putting R80 or Dida, since I was more 'hopeful' they'll come through than sure.

Wrong:

LEO: Nuff said! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/ohmy.gif)

Nesta: Thought we'd lost a player to injury for good.

Antonini: Thought he'd be another player who becomes immense for a small team, but useless for us.

I'd never really noticed you in defense of Ambro to be honest. You were with me on Gila, I know that, just never really noticed you side with me on Ambro. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

I just love how the main opinion on Ambro was that he's always injured and a very average player, while Gattuso should be captain. As it happens, Gattuso has been injured all year and playing very average, while Ambro is captain. Too sweet.

It's the lucky #23, I'm telling ya.

I enjoy being correct when the opposition to my view is passionate (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)
I am wrong on many occasions, however, and I wouldn't pretend that I get it right every time.
