I remember seeing this a few weeks back but for some reason or other i decided not to post it. It is basically The Independents version of a Milan dream team, i think its mostly good but could have done with some changes (most notably Tassotti, although they try and justify leaving him out)

In a nutshell its

.....................Cudici
.........Maldini......Baresi....Costacurta
....................Rijkaard
....Gullit......Rivera......Liedholm
...................Kaka
..........Nordahl....Van Basten

When i was first reading it i seriously though at one point they were going to put Sheva there, but when i read Van Basten's name, my reaction was "of course!" Liedholm had sort of drifted out of my memory a bit, but a worthy inclusion he is.

Personally i would have dopped Gullit, replaced him with Tassotti and gone for a 4-3-1-2, but this team is outstanding regardless

Here is the link, it is worth a read in full just to see their justifications for including said players and also to provide a background if you are unfamiliar with the players(!)

They have also done other dream teams, off the top of my head, Ajax, Bayern and the English big four

Thank you for posting that, whoarethepatriots. It really is interesting to see who they picked and who was left out. Gullit is the one I'd maybe argue with (the back 4 should be a back 4) but the guys they picked deserve their places.

I think its less about the back four, than the combination of those exact players. We all know that Maldini, Baresi, Costacurta and Tassotti was our best ever defence (and one of if not the best defensive lines ever)

Still the journalist clearly knows their stuff and he did try and justify a few omissions
