Milan play Hamburg in a friendly on January 6 (Tuesday). The game will be shown live on Mediaset and on delay on Milan Channel.

The current thought in Italy is that Beckham will play at least some part of this game.

Hamburg are a good side - their danger men are the two Croatian strikers (Petric and Olic) and midfielder Piotr Trochowski. Should be a good game.

Ah some Milan action is always good. I too hope to see some kids and I'm also interested in watching Beckham... I mean, after all he's a new signing...

Good, physical match up. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/devil.gif) And like Tennie said, keep an eye out for the Croats, particularly Olic. I'll create the Roma match thread later today, as that match is on 11 (my father's birthday!) Good luck for today, though.

Just answered my own question, 4pm Italian time on Mediaset Premium - thought you meant either Canale 5, Rete 4 or Italia 1, got my hopes up for a minute. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif)

Here is Carletto's prematch press conference, translation courtesy of acmilan.com's english page:

QUOTE
DUBAI - These are the declarations of Carlo Ancelotti on the eve of the Milan-Hamburg friendly game scheduled for tomorrow: "It was without doubt an important week in which we have worked very well thanks to everyone's availability and also thanks to the favourable weather conditions. I'm convinced that in the second part of the league this very good work will have a certain weight. For us it's never easy, in Milan, to work for seven consecutive days. I saw an improvement in the athletic condition of various players, in particular that of Andriy Shevchenko. I think that in the second part of the season Sheva will have an important role. This first part of the season was not easy for him, but now he managed to get on the same level of his team-mates from the athletic point of view."

The Milan coach continued talking about tomorrow's game: "We want to show all of our best qualities, with the objetive of entertaining the public and winning. The only two unavailable players will be Bonera and Borriello. I know that there is a lot of curiosity around Beckham and I can easily say that the player is available and therefore he can play. During these day he worked very well and I noticed that he is very helpful and willing to work. Nine points behind Inter? They are a lot but in the first part of the season we had to face various injuries unfortunately, particularly in the defensive phase and the absence of Nesta and other players created us some problems. Our objective is that of recovering all our players in the best condition for the second part of the season, and I'm convinced that the squad will not disappoint."

Quick note on morning training: it was mostly athletic work (no practice game). Bonera took part in most of the training with his teammates (yay!). Borriello continued his physical therapy. Kaka trained separately due to a muscle issue but is expected to play tomorrow.

It's a friendly, whoarethepatriots. I imagine there'll be quite a few subs, hopefully including the kids. From the photos seen so far, we know Darmian and Strasser are there.

Note's from today's training session in the morning: there was alot of crossing practice with Favalli , Jankulovski , Antonini and Beckham !! , Kalac got hurt a little when a cross came in and went off the pitch and Abbiati replaced him in goal , but he was walking so im sure it was just a bruise.

I haven't picked any of those kids out in photos. Not sure they're there. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif) The Primavera campionato starts up again on the 10th so some of 'em might've stayed back to train.

Whoopsie daisy! At first look, it sounded weird. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/innocent.gif) I thought Hamburg had bought all our players. Then I read the whole sentence.

Beckham injured? (IMG:http://qsmile.com/qsimages/171.gif)

I was thinking, what if he damaged a ligament and had to stay away from football for three months? wouldn't that make all this Beckham-to-Milan-mania a big fat joke? wouldn't the whole world laugh at us?

The Italian press is reporting that he has a muscular complaint as of the second training today and that he'll be a gameday decision.

I wish I could watch this one; Hamburg is one of the funner Bundesliga teams to watch. Fishdoll is a big fan of Ivica Olic; sadly, Olic is going to Bayern next season. Darnit.

Rumor has it that he may not remain long at Madrid; he's been mentioned a couple of times as a barganing chip for various transfers (ie, VDV +$$$ for Ashley Young).

Olic looks a lot like Danial Craig. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/innocent.gif) As a matter of fact, the first time I saw him, I thought I was watching James Bond playing. Unfortunately, he wasn't that influential in the Euros 2008. Can't wait to see him later today, though!

Those who want to watch this game .. It will be broadcasted FREE on Dubai sports. If any of you guys have Nilesat or Arabsat already configured on your reciever then you'll most likely have this channel already programed.

Slightly revised starting lineup this morning on acmilan.com:

Dida; Zambrotta, Maldini, Kaladze, Jankulovski; Beckham, Pirlo, Flamini; Ronaldinho; Pato, Shevchenko.

Abbiati pulled a muscle in the morning training session and is out; Beckham is starting instead of Ambro.

@Riv: I don't think anything has changed. It's just that he's got Pirlo back, so he doesn't need say Ambro to play that box to box role. I think Beckham will play it.

Flamini needs to play more. He's not played a lot since that injury of his. I'm more interested in seeing Sheva and Beckham combine. I hope it will work. Was also looking to see Favalli. Damn!

Good starting lineup, looks like it's gonna be an entertaining game.

Wish I could watch this one, darnit. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif) For what it's worth, Gazzetta is providing text commentary in Italian and the HSV website is offering text commentary in German.

Becks with his long range pass, inches away from Shevchenko

Gosh. Marcell Jansen is finally playing for HSV. He's been out with injury most of the season so far. Pretty good LB. Hamburg are pretty much full strength, though they're playing their #2 keeper and starting Guerrero over Petric.

So far not much has been going on in terms of attacking play .. But Becks seems to be really fit .. Closing down on opposition players and bringing the team together .. Looks like he has more to offer than we expected

Becks seems to be playing deep (Pirlo's position) .. While Pirlo is roaming in midfield, mostly on the left side.

I'm guessing Carlo is testing here ... Becks usually on the right side and doing a Pirlo

So who's playing in midfield? Is it Ambrosini or Flamini? One site says one thing, another says the opposite. (at work and not able to see images)

That and I am very impressed with the new boy ... He is showing great humility and always pressing from his side. Seems as though he is very serious about his stint at Milan, as he is not treating this game as a friendly at all.

Er. And Maldini given a yellow for a last-man foul on Olic? That's what i can make of the text commentary in the two languages. Gazzetta indicates that if this had been a competitive game, it would've been a red.

It was between the 18 yard and the central circle ... It was a harsh tackle, but Maldini was clearly going for the ball .. Just that Olic's feet were faster than Paolo's anticipation I guess

From the first half .. Its fair to say that Hamburg had the upper hand, but that is only because Hamburg is trying harder, they are more physical and trying to prove something .. While Milan is just concentrating on ball possession, spreading the play and basically getting ready for the Roma match.

The best players from the first half were Pato, Becks, Pirlo, Ronaldinho, Janku and Dida ... The rest did well, but its obvious for me that the team had been instructed not to get too physical.

The Italian commentary agrees that HSV has had the upper hand so far.

This may only interest me and Fillipo but how did Jansen look? Anyone?

Both German and Italian text commentary have given Dida high marks.
