MVB is the only non-Italian Milan striker I've ever really liked. He was a god as a footballer. As a coach? Not so much. If I had to pick a former Milan player to replace Ancelotti as coach, it'd easily be Capello. That said, I'd prefer Rijkaard over MVB and would be really interested in the possibility of one of the newer Italian coaches (Galli/Evani/Billy) maybe taking over. NOT Donadoni.

QUOTE (acid911 @ Sep 6 2008, 12:40 AM) Oh no, not this guy. (IMG: style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif) Or we'll be limited to semifinal appearances in tournaments, and never actually win anything! He won 6 Eredivisie,4KNVB Cup and 1 European Cup (IMG: style_emoticons/default/king.gif)

Interesting choices, zd. Thing is, I don't think any non-Milan related coach will be hired. So...Rijkaard from your list, then?
For what it's worth, I think Prandelli is the best coach in Serie A. Have tremendous respect for him.

QUOTE (acid911 @ Sep 6 2008, 04:36 PM) Scolari is out of the question. smile.gif Zico is in it. I wish we signed him, the guy is a decent coach. What's wrong with Big Phil? OK, I know what's wrong, but he's a great coach. it'd be interesting to see Mourinho vs Scolari! QUOTE (Tennie @ Sep 6 2008, 04:37 PM) Interesting choices, zd. Thing is, I don't think any non-Milan related coach will be hired. So...Rijkaard from your list, then? It seems so... I mean, why would Roma let Spalletti go? or the Viola releasing a coach who took them to the CL and is loved by its fans? Rijkaard is the most probable option I think. I've actually seen his name being mentioned on our website sometimes... QUOTE For what it's worth, I think Prandelli is the best coach in Serie A. Have tremendous respect for him. He really is a gentleman and a great coach, but I like Spalletti's football more. it's very modern and beautiful. no wonder he's been selected as the best coach in Italy for two successive years.

QUOTE (zdrossoneri @ Sep 7 2008, 12:28 PM) So is Mourinho but some named him. that's considering the leave their current teams and join us! I thought you didn't like his attitude (punching people, encouraging his players to kick the opponent, etc.) Oh okay. And to answer your second question, I can live with it, as long he wins us some trophies. (IMG: style_emoticons/default/wink.gif) He's a darn good coach, that's for sure. What's his record in the World Cups, 13 consecutive victories, is it? I know it won't happen, but if given a choice between Zico and Big Phil, I'd have a very hard time choosing.

I'm wondering if there's any particular significance in Tassotti giving that interview yesterday. I don't recall him doing long interviews like that at all. The conspiracy theorist in me wonders if it's a hint of management changes to come.

MVB was a god as a footballer (sorry, dst!). Not so much as a coach. I'd prefer Rijkaard over MVB if a Dutch alum were to take over for Ancelotti.

Maldini has stated many times that he doesn't want to coach. I'd love to see him doing something with Milan management though. Maybe Galliani will retire?
All these non-alumni suggestions are interesting. Thing is, I don't think Ancelotti's replacement (whenever it comes) will be an 'outsider' -- meaning, I think the new coach will be someone who played for Milan at some point. That doesn't narrow things down a whole lot as many former players are now coaches, but that's part of the club's tradition.

That would be a dream coming true (IMG: style_emoticons/default/ohmy.gif) By the way, I think MVB is an over rated coach he played a very offensive football in the last Euro and impressed a lot, but I don't think that kind of football will last an entire season. He lost his last match against Willem 2-1, in the second half he did something you only see in PES, 3 substitutes in 3 minutes (IMG: style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif) (IMG: style_emoticons/default/freak.gif)

Not gonna happen, vnata. First, he hates Milan (see comments made last year). Second, he's not a former Milan player.

Personally I don't believe this whole former Milan player BS. If so we're really limiting ourselves to practically 3 coaches, Donadoni, Rijkaard and Van Basten and imo, neither of them are good enough and a step down from Carlo. If our management have half a brain they would chose a coach based on credentials not his past history with the club. And it's pointless to bring up Baresi, Billy and Maldini since non of them has ever coached, and a club like Milan need an experianced coach

If Frankie comes, then he's got to have an assistant who's VERY good at people management, because it seems to me that it's his big weakness.
Vnata, the milan alum thing is a strong unwritten rule. There are occasional exceptions (Sacchi being the most successful of these) but generally it's someone who's played for Milan (eg Capello or Ancelotti).
