I know it's probably too early to tell, but I thought I would start the poll now anyway (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/wink.gif)

I've got a horrible feeling that this may be Paolo's last season, and we're still not sure how Inzaghi is doing. Cafu will also turn 36, and captain his country at the World Cup for the last time (unless he is actually immortal (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif) )

I guess it's going to depend on how well the squad copes in terms of major injuries. So.. do you think Milan need to sign any players in January? And if so, who?

Milan needs Cicinho or Lucio or Chivu or Kompany or Senderos... a young defender with experience.

Maybe in January not but... next season a lot of things will change, probably these players will quit for Ac Milan:

- Maldini (80% possible)
- Costacurta (confirmed)
- Serginho
- Rui Costa
- Inzaghi (90% possible)
- Cafú (I think if Brazil wins the World Cup, Cafu will retire)
- Fiori

Also, Stam and Vieri pasts 30 years old, so a lot of new players may arrive in January and at the start of the new season, but buy a pair of new defenders is necessary...

Expect a massive 'clearout' in the next two years, i.e the players mentioned by Smoje. We need to seriously start thinking of replacements and I believe we should sign at least two defenders in January. That is the priority area now IMO.

Yeh Maldini's exit will be associated with a change of era and ...as u say...CLEAROUT

Inzaghi
Vieri
Costacurta
Maldini
Serginho
Rui
Simic

i think wil all be gone within the next 2 seasons.

The "clearout" players absolutely need to be replaced; otherwise we'll be looking at a very thin squad next year. As a start, it's imperative that Milan buy some defenders in January and re-inforce the back line.

Here are the best young defenders in the Serie A, I'd welcome the signing of any of these players:

(IMG:http://uffa.mainardi.net/risorse/giocatori/b/bonerad.jpg) Daniele Bonera, Parma, Centre-back / Right-back

(IMG:http://uffa.mainardi.net/risorse/giocatori/b/barzaglia.jpg) Andrea Barzagli, Palermo, Centre-back

(IMG:http://uffa.mainardi.net/risorse/giocatori/z/zaccardoc.jpg) Christian Zaccardo, Palermo, Right-back

(IMG:http://uffa.mainardi.net/risorse/giocatori/f/feliped.jpg) Felipe, Udinese, Centre-back

(IMG:http://uffa.mainardi.net/risorse/giocatori/c/chivuc.jpg) Christian Chivu, Roma, Centre-back

The list would have included Giorgio Chiellini, but since he plays for Juve it wouldn't be easy to acquire him. Massimo Oddo of Lazio and Lecce's Marco Cassetti were not included as they are too old to solve any problems in the long run.

I'd love to see Chivu in a Milan shirt.

We need some extra youth (and quality) at the back, and a vice Cafu. Hopefully Marzoratti can save us a few euros and turn into the next Costacurta!!

Provided he's given the opportunity. Milan doesn't seem to trust the primevera anymore. What about Mexes? He seemed so full of potential two years ago. Perhaps playing for a team like Milan would help him reach those potentials.

p.s. Isn't Chivu injury prone? (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif)

I've never seen him play, but honestly, I think he has zero potential of being a Milan regular. Sometimes big clubs just sign this kind of players to help their potential young stars (Kaká) to feel more comfortable and relaxed in a new environment like Milanello.

You know, I have just finished asking a friend how good the guy is. I have never seen him play. Unless may be if he played against us last season but I just didn't bother noticing him. Would've loved to see the clips.

Milan needs many young an d experienced players as Kaka. And i hope Cafu leaves. Cuz he cant pass the ball from the wings but everytime every game Anchelotti lets him play. And Milan never scores. Soon well lose Maldini as well so we need defenders. Like Chivu. And i dont think Inzaghi will be leaving.

Maldini and Cafu are not the problem ! (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/sad.gif)
The very problem is the necessary attention in our area when the other team attacks. (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/mad.gif)
In any case we supporters must to be near tha team in order to increase the trust and the power. (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/devilsmiley.gif)

I think the big problem is DMF position. Remember when we won Scudetto and CL, how wonderful Gattuso done! Defenders only play well when DMFs co-work with them well.

personally i think its a must to get new defenders in because our defence is aging and soon if we dont get cover in that area we will be using the reserve side in the defence...... for now the defence looks alright but in a couple years time it will start to fall apart if we dont swoop on a decent defender

IMO we don't need Totti, and I don't think we could accomodate him anyway! The other three are more than welcome though (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/wink.gif)

In winter, we may bring in Yepes or Bonera. Yepes seems better to me as we probably only need a short-term solution.

Otherwise, we will just count on Billy and Simic, who did a decent job against Empoli I must say. (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif)

I think the alarm bells are ringing for us in the back and front. The management doesn't seem to be interested in any defenders at all.

The defenders who will be leaving/will need replacements next summer are as follows:

1) Costacurta
2) Cafu
3) Stam
4) Maldini

Yeah this is pretty much the whole defence. Maldini himself kept saying he is tired and his knees are bothering him and he can't play every game anymore. Costacurta is saying goodbye to his career as we all know... Cafu may quit, if not he will definitely need a good replacement as he can't play every game either. Stam may return to Holland as he wants to end his career in a Dutch club.

We need central defenders. Simic is not a central defender.

As far as the forwards go, Vieri is terrible. He is not a starter, he is not a good sub. Frankly I don't know what he is doin in our squad. He is burned-out. He'll prolly move to another club after the world cup anyways... So we're gonna need a 4th striker. Somebody young and someone who can dribble the ball I hope...

Our midfield is very solid though, I'm very happy with that. Jankulovski is a great transfer. All of our midfielders are young and highly skilled. Can't complain....

We don't need big name signings just players who can take over the defence and partner Nesta. And a promising striker. Someone who hasn't proved himself in a big club yet. I'm very impressed by D'Agostino. He plays for Messina. Watch the goal he scored against Lecce. This guy is pure class. Another player is Suazo who plays for Cagliari. These 2 would be good 4th strikers for Milan. Hell they can challenge both Inzaghi and the overrated Gilardino...

Luca Toni now is a brighest star in Calcio sky. (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif) But his age is not matched with our plan.

I think we don't have to upgrade our attackers before the end of the season. But, we should have a youngster for the 06/07 campaign. Maybe Torres? or Santa Cruz?

Our mids are good, so we need more hi-qual sub, just like Vogel.

Our defenders? 2 or 3 new young talent names are possible with me. Remember the youth should have 1 2 year(s) to familiar with our level! Maybe Kompany and Chivu ...

We were at the edge of signing Luca Toni this summer. If Gilardino deal didn't go through, we would have gone for Luca Toni. Galliani specifically told Palermo boss to wait for another few weeks before selling Toni to Fiorentina.

I still prefer Gilardino to Toni though, even their goal records now are 12:5. (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

Yes, Toni is in superb form right now and he should spearhead the Azzurri attack in June, but I'm still glad that we signed Gilardino ahead of Toni. Alberto is five years younger than Toni, and could be playing for the Rossoneri for the next ten years. Vieri and Inzaghi are ageing, but I'd say we can manage fairly well with the strikers we have until 2007, when new blood is required. Who would that be, I don't know. Two years is a long time in football, and new names will be introduced. Remind you, two years ago Luca Toni was just beginning his 30-goal-season with Palermo in Serie B, and surely no transfer to Milan was on the cards. The same could be said about Gilardino.

Yes, if Toni play with Sheva, he can't score so much goals because our tactic always be focused on Sheva.

And Gilar always the top scorer in the last 2 year, that's mean he still able to score like Toni if we focus on him.

Rumor has it that Robben is getting sold in January. For some bizarre reason. I cant see it happening, but if he is sold, i wouldnt mind him coming Milan.

On his day he is awesome, but he is too tempermental-this is why (rumour has it) Chelsea might sell him. He could come to Milan and sort his head out like Crespo did though....

I wish I could share your optimism amancik, unfortunately I can only see us getting a defender-most likely another freebie, or a panic buy (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif)
There's a lot of speculation linking Chivu with us, and IMO that would be a bad move. He has never really fulfilled his potential at Roma and is too injury prone, although he is quite good at freekicks (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif) . My personal favourite would be Gallas, other than that I would like to see Alex join. Only time will tell though!

No Chivu would be better than Gallas in my opinion, Gallas seems to be good because he plays alongside the best defender in the world in my opinion.

Yeah, those Chelsea backs have it together. I wish the Chelsea transfer rumors were true. I'd like to see Crespo, Gallas, and Terry arriving to the San Siro in a couple of weeks.

Yeah either you mean that you think the news is true or haven't heard it??

Theres been speculation over Milan going for Gallas, and Terry. Gallas might perhaps get transfered, Terry has doesn't. Crespo hates England and wants to come back to Italy, some are drawing a possible Milan come back conclusion.

Link to source?
I read every website i know of for Milan news after coming to MF first, and i havnt heard anything apart from the usual rumors of Gallas saying ages ago that he wouldnt mind playing for Milan and that Crespo's had another spat with JM and wants out.

Cicinho has signed for Real. To bad, He would be a great replacement for Cafu.

Milan will buy one of theese players for the center-back.

- Kompany
- Chivu
- Lugano

but why not try, Maduro or Senderos, experienced but still young.

good answer.

Gila was the lone attacker in Parma, and now he has to do more work, from creating chances for others to even defense. (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/huh.gif)

I strongly doubt that we will get anybody serious from Chelsea, after all, they regard us as one huge threat.

who would sell your captain, a young and hot one, to your direct rival?

robben seems to have personal problem with mourinho, but i still don't see him leaving, especially for us.

I would be extremely happy if we get Lugano or Gallas. I wouldn't think about Terry.

Having known Galliani (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/wink.gif) , I doubt any of that is happening. (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/mad.gif)

Well January is here but no talk of new defenders. May be Galliani was serious about not buying any player in January.
