QUOTE (arivanjj @ Oct 28 2006, 11:12 PM) we'll win 3 - 1. i'd like to see this as our line-up: ----------------------Dida----------------------- Cafu-------Nesta--------Maldini------Serginho -----Gattuso---------Seedorf----Gourcuff--- -------------------Kaka------------------------- --------Gilardino--------------Oliviera--------- I agree with that, although I'de change Cafu for Simic (after tonight's effort Cafu will seriously need a rest) And I think Serginho has a hernia (atleast that's what I last read about his injury) So basically my formation would be something like this ----------------------Dida-------------------- Simic------Nesta--------Maldini------Janku -----Gattuso-----Seedorf----Gourcuff------ -------------------Kaka----------------------- --------Gilardino--------------Oliviera------- --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- And this one would be the formation that I think could be useful because our players will no doubt be drained after this one. I know it's risky, but I think we could afford to go with it and still win this one, especially if our strikers have finally found their scoring touch again ----------------------Dida----------------------- Simic-------Nesta--------Maldini------Kaladze -----Brocchi-----Gourcuff----Jankulovski----- ---------------------Seedorf-------------------- --------Gilardino--------------Oliviera--------- I think this could work, and it will give a chance for Kaka and Pirlo to have some VERY needed rest, plus if we are in need of some extra spark Kaka could always come on

QUOTE (han2503 @ Oct 30 2006, 12:39 PM) I would rest Pirlo and put in Seedorf in him place. Pirlo looks totally exhausted and needs a good rest at least for a few days could be , yes he looks very tired, i palced there simic because i think that with one winger we are fine , and cafu doesn't have 90 minutes in his legs anymore, gourguff could be a good choice now lookig things the way they are... and well, inzaghi is getting old, we want it or or , if gilardino will stay in the clib he is the future for milan , he needs to start plaiyng all he can.

QUOTE (mishie @ Oct 30 2006, 01:09 PM) i agree i said after the il derby he looked devoid of energy and ideas, what we could do with rui costa!! but as long as gourcuff is fit then play him and play seedorf in pirlos place with olivera and gila up front dida simic--nesta--bonera--kaladze seedorf gattuso--kaka--gourcuff gila--oli my formation for a 3-1 win!! Nice line up, however i prefer maldini instead of bonera. ( and yes , how we miss rui costa )

Champions League Preview: AC Milan-Anderlecht Belgian club Anderlecht travels south to take on a Milan side which is coming off one of the most thrilling matches they have played in recent years. Where: Stadio Giuseppe Meazza, Milan, Italy BACKGROUND Milan and Anderlecht met two weeks ago at the latter’s home ground in Brussels, Belgium. Milan came out with the three points, by a score of 1-0. Anderlecht knew Milan were struggling, and they had a chance to get hold of the group with a win over the visitors. That being said, they did not necessarily need to push the issue, as they did not need all out offense to get the result they desired. In fact, Milan showed the same offensive frailty they had been displaying for nearly the entire season. Not only did Milan have trouble scoring yet again, but they were put under the gun when Daniele Bonera was ejected for a second bookable-offence right after the restart. But rather than recede and lock down on defense, this seemed to give the Rossoneri impetus to go forward. The only goal came through a superb strike by Kakà in the 58th minute. He received the ball far from goal, took a few touches, and then hit an unstoppable-shot that sailed past Anderlecht ‘keeper Daniel Zitka. This was all that was needed, as Milan held on for the improbably-achieved win. CURRENT FORM Milan (W D W, 7 points) are currently in first place in Champions League group H. While they have not been able to get on track in domestic competition for the most part, they have done well in European play, with the opening 3-0 home victory against AEK Athens being the bright spot so far. It appears as though they finally have hit their stride domestically, despite the 4-3 loss to Inter Milan at the weekend in the Derby della Madonnina. While the first-half was one to be forgotten, the second-half performance was markedly better, and through late-game heroics they almost got out with a draw, after having gone behind 4-1 at the beginning of the second-half. Anderlecht (D D L, 2 points) will be hard-fought to get points from this fixture. Milan will surely look to continue this improved vein of form, and this will be the most important match for Anderlecht so far in the competition. A surprise draw or win would go a long way to helping them make a push for second place in the group. In Belgian league play, they have continued to do well, with a 2-0 win on Sunday versus bottom of the table Lierse. Ahmed Hassan bagged a brace with the strikes on either side of halftime; although, the score could have been higher, as they missed two penalty kicks. TEAM NEWS Anderlecht really only have one glaring injury concern to account for, and that is defender Nicolas Pareja, who is a long-term absentee with a knee problem. Milan are still without Serginho, but Joann Gourcuff should return to the lineup after a long absence for a rib injury. Daniele Bonera is suspended for his dismissal in the match played in Belgium a fortnight ago. PLAYERS TO WATCH Alberto Gilardino (Milan) – Finally scored his first goal of the season in the weekend defeat, and looked very active, even having a goal disallowed for a close offside call. Lucas Biglia (Anderlecht) – the Belgians need a good performance from the Argentine midfielder, whose play is essential toward getting a positive result. He will need to show the quality he displayed on a regular basis back when he played for Boca Juniors. POSSIBLE STARTING XI’s Anderlecht (4-4-2): Zitka; Descacht, Juhasz, van Damme, Vanden Borre; Goor, Biglia, Hassan, Boussoufa; Tchite, Frutos Milan (4-3-1-2): Dida; Cafu, Nesta, Maldini, Jankulovski; Gattuso, Pirlo, Gourcuff; Kakà ; Gilardino, Inzaghi PREDICTION In what is bad news to teams not only Italy but all across Europe, Milan may now be hitting top-form. This will be especially bad news for Anderlecht, who have a history of struggling in Champions League play. With the home crowd urging them on, Milan will try to get plenty of goals to build on their recently-acquired confident play. Expect a big win for the Rossoneri. Milan 3-0 Anderlecht Goal.com

I dont really know,...I would avoid the following: 1) The explosive combination of Pippo and Gila... 2) Å imić or Cafu an the RB. Å imić sucked on that position and improved ever since he played th CB, and Cafu is exhausted and deserves a break. Put in Brocchi, even Costacurta. Also I would suggest: 1) Give a rest to Pirlo. He needs it, his body language shows it to us clearly... (IMG: http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/wink.gif) . 2) Why not try to make a triangle with Gila - Kaka - Gourcuff?

Agreed on all, except fot the last one, that is basically xmas tree formation but Gourcuff instead of Seedorf, but I think that Oliveira should be the one to speare head the triangle not Gila, since he is a box striker and it doesn't really work well with just a box striker you have to have someone who is more mobile and harder to mark so that spaces could open up for both Kaka and Gourcuff could exploit them

Btw I just want to add don't you think that Kaka should be given a rest, he has been giving his all for all 90 mins for all the matches we've played, if we keep on going in this rate he will be burned out come the middle of the season.
That's why I think this match could be our opportunity to rest him, even if not for the whole 90 minutes at least half of the match, and if we are struggling we put him in, but atleast give him the option to rest and see how we get on without him.
If we where to rest him (even though I'm pretty sure it won't happen) I would go for this formation:
Simic--Nesta--Maldini--Kaladze ---Gattuso--Gourcuff--Janku--- --------------Seedorf------------ ----------Gila------Oliveira-----

Well yes and no, it's confidence boosting time, all proven goal scorers need a run out tonight, except Andy P (dst can dislike it all he wants (IMG: http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif) ) who looks like he's gonna stop breathing if he keeps at it. What about Rino, how is the old boy doing? He hasn't rested much either... I still think we shud go for a 3-4-1-2, I remember we did do something like this last season. Then switch to a more defensive mindset by around 55-60 minutes.

QUOTE Ancelotti: Europe then Italy… Milan boss Carlo Ancelotti is hoping that a win over Anderlecht on Wednesday will allow them to focus on their Serie A recovery.
The Rossoneri will face the Belgian side at the San Siro and a win should be enough for Ancelotti’s team to book a place in the last 16 of the Champions League.
“We are doing well in the group and although Anderlecht are a good side we want to win and then concentrate more on the domestic championship,†said the Coach.
"It will not be an easy game, but I believe we can win and make our qualification to the next phase near to certain.
“After that we will finally be able to focus on Serie A, trying to fill in the gap that separates us from the leaders of the table as soon as possible,†continued Ancelotti.
“We have to start well, we are where we want to be in the Champions League but it is the opposite in Italy where we are 14 points behind Inter.
“We lost against Palermo and Inter and although we were not dominated we had some difficulties in the first half,†explained the Rossoneri tactician.
Milan, despite being down to 10-men, collected a 1-0 win in Brussels two weeks ago and the Coach expects a similar result.
“I am not planning any changes to our usual tactics and I think Anderlecht will also maintain the same characteristics they had in their home match,†he added.
“They are very quick and well organised, especially in defence, we will need to be very determined.
“Yoann Gourcuff will probably be in the starting line-up seeing as has completely recovered from his injury, whereas Giuseppe Favalli, Serginho and Massimo Ambrosini are out.
“Alberto Gilardino's goal in the derby has helped relax him and this may be useful tomorrow evening,†concluded Ancelotti.
The match will kick-off at 20.45 local time and has been assigned to Herbert Fandel of Germany. So that's 2 players almost being confirmed for tomorrow, and I like both options (IMG: http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/cool.gif) Now my only hope is that Gila will not play next to Pippo

QUOTE (mchanna @ Oct 31 2006, 09:18 PM) Inzaghi, Nesta, Pirlo, + Seedorf will be rested according to http://www.gazzetta.it/Calcio/Squadre/Mila...1/vigilia.shtmlI don't agree with resting Sedorf though, Kaka is more important to us, especially when the big games start to role around. Nesta needs to get off the high of having a kid, his mind is wondering during the match, and we can't have that. So it's good that he has been rested

Seedorf speaks of Milan 'fire'RSC Anderlecht had better watch out. According to three-times UEFA Champions League winner Clarence Seedorf, AC Milan are "fired up" and ready to take out their frustration at Saturday's painful 4-3 defeat by FC Internazionale Milano on their Belgian visitors. Painful defeatTop of Group H, a victory on Wednesday could take Milan into the last 16 with two matches to spare, but it is the weekend Serie A reverse that is foremost in their minds. In Seedorf and company, Anderlecht seemingly are about to face a wounded animal. "We are really fired up," he said. "You should have seen us in training yesterday. That would have shown you better than any words can describe just how charged we are after the derby defeat. Now, we are even more optimistic and determined to do well in this tournament." European formIndeed, while they lie 14th in Serie A after a poor sequence of results halted their march up the table following a pre-season points penalty, Seedorf believes the graft that has produced Milan's fine UEFA Champions League form will soon bear fruit in all competitions. "We are very focused at the moment," the 30-year-old said. "We don't want to talk too much because whatever we say, the facts in the league at least say we should keep quiet. Even if we think they are not giving a true reflection of our performances at present, we believe the results will soon speak for themselves. Our hard work will pay off." Porto exampleWhether their toil at the Milanello training base translates into a seventh European Champion Clubs' Cup is the big question, but Seedorf is surely best-placed to comment. "Just look at [FC] Porto," he said. "The year Porto won the UEFA Champions League, Milan had a much better side. But they did what they had to do by beating the teams that were put in front of them. You need to have a little luck but essentially Porto did what was asked of them and the same goes for us. We know we are competitive enough to win it." Carlo Ancelotti at the pre-match conference (©Getty Images)Ancelotti welcomes Milan diversionAC Milan coach Carlo Ancelotti has the air of a man relieved to be turning his attention back to the UEFA Champions League where, in contrast to the somewhat darker domestic landscape, the future looks bright. 'Not happening'Milan lead Group H with seven points from three matches and will qualify for the knockout stages with victory against RSC Anderlecht, provided AEK Athens FC fail to do likewise at home to LOSC Lille Métropole. In Italy, however, the Rossoneri have won just one of their last six games, culminating in a 4-3 derby defeat on Saturday which leaves them 14 points behind leaders FC Internazionale Milano. "It's not quite happening for us in Serie A," Ancelotti said. "I'm not really sure why there is a difference, because we prepare for the matches in exactly the same way. The results in the league suggest we're playing badly but we're not." 'Dominating possession'That disappointing domestic run also suggests European success holds even greater importance for the six-time continental champions, although Ancelotti is not looking beyond Wednesday. "Three points would put everything right for the time being, but it won't be straightforward as Anderlecht are a good side," he said. Milan, who will be without the suspended Daniele Bonera and the injured Giuseppe Favalli and Serginho, may recall French youngster Yoann Gourcuff to help Kaká pull the midfield strings. Tchite threatThe Brazilian's wonder strike proved the difference between the teams in Brussels a fortnight ago, although the scoreline could have been different had Mohamed Tchite - "a player who is very dangerous away from home" according to Ancelotti - not wasted a golden opportunity to equalise, with Roland Juhász also hitting the woodwork. Another who usually carries the Anderlecht threat, Nicolas Frutos, has a hamstring complaint and joins Nicolas Pareja on the sidelines. Tchite should instead be supported in attack by Mbark Boussoufa and Ahmed Hassan, who scored twice in Saturday's 2-0 defeat of K. Lierse SK. Travelling support"It is a shame that Frutos is out," said visiting coach Franky Vercauteren, "but we've been without him before and done well. I'd prefer to have him available as he gives the side so many more options, but life goes on and we have other good players in the side." Les Mauves have lost only once in Group H, on Matchday 3, but two draws have left them requiring at least a point from this encounter, and the support of 5,000 travelling fans could yet help them achieve such a result. 'Not scared'Vercauteren added: "This is a hugely important match for us. It could be decisive in terms of who finishes where, so we need to try and pick up points. We are not scared of anyone. We have a healthy respect for Milan and are honoured to be playing in this tournament at San Siro, but we can get something from the game if we play as a solid unit." Probable teamsMilan: Dida; Cafu, Kakha Kaladze, Alessandro Nesta, Paolo Maldini; Gennaro Gattuso, Cristian Brocchi, Yoann Gourcuff; Kaká; Alberto Gilardino, Ricardo Oliveira. Anderlecht: Daniel ZÃtka; Roland Juhász, Mark De Man, Olivier Deschacht; Yves Vanderhaeghe; Anthony Vanden Borre, Lucas Biglia, Bart Goor; Ahmed Hassan, Mbark Boussoufa; Mohamed Tchite. UEFA.com

Anderlecht will have the same characteristics as they did at home. They are very quick and have a dangerous striker in Tchite. They are very well organised, especially in defence. We have a system, not only in the style, but how we go about it. We have to be more determined without going overboard.
THE LINE-UP - Gourcuff will probably start as he is fit. Favalli, Serginho and Ambrosini are all out whilst we have to judge Costacurta and Jankulovsi's fitness. We don't want to be too unbalanced from the start. I think that Gilardino's goal in the derby has helped relax him which will also helps in the Champions League. Maldini is important so there has never been unmovable regulars in this team.

RSC Anderlecht had better watch out. According to three-times UEFA Champions League winner Clarence Seedorf, AC Milan are "fired up" and ready to take out their frustration at Saturday's painful 4-3 defeat by FC Internazionale Milano on their Belgian visitors.
Painful defeat Top of Group H, a victory on Wednesday could take Milan into the last 16 with two matches to spare, but it is the weekend Serie A reverse that is foremost in their minds. In Seedorf and company, Anderlecht seemingly are about to face a wounded animal. "We are really fired up," he said. "You should have seen us in training yesterday. That would have shown you better than any words can describe just how charged we are after the derby defeat. Now, we are even more optimistic and determined to do well in this tournament."
European form Indeed, while they lie 14th in Serie A after a poor sequence of results halted their march up the table following a pre-season points penalty, Seedorf believes the graft that has produced Milan's fine UEFA Champions League form will soon bear fruit in all competitions. "We are very focused at the moment," the 30-year-old said. "We don't want to talk too much because whatever we say, the facts in the league at least say we should keep quiet. Even if we think they are not giving a true reflection of our performances at present, we believe the results will soon speak for themselves. Our hard work will pay off."
Porto example Whether their toil at the Milanello training base translates into a seventh European Champion Clubs' Cup is the big question, but Seedorf is surely best-placed to comment. "Just look at [FC] Porto," he said. "The year Porto won the UEFA Champions League, Milan had a much better side. But they did what they had to do by beating the teams that were put in front of them. You need to have a little luck but essentially Porto did what was asked of them and the same goes for us. We know we are competitive enough to win it."

QUOTE (Portugal @ Nov 1 2006, 08:39 PM) Brocchi can defend ... well basically that's the only thing he can do ... running and defending !! while Rino has evolved !! (IMG: http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/wub.gif) By the way, it'd be great to get a win while Rino and Pirlo get a rest !! QUOTE (Portugal @ Nov 1 2006, 08:48 PM) Words marked !! I was really happy to see (against Inter) that there is indeed a sparkle inside that lad (IMG: http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/devil.gif) Hope he hits the bloody net tonight at last ... QUOTE (Jack Sparrow @ Nov 1 2006, 08:57 PM) Though I'm unaccustomed to repeating myself... I want you to go to the window, open it, stick your head out and yell: I'm hiiiiigh !!
