I know there are some Diarra fans in this forum, and I'm one of them.

For me, he's the best defensive midfielder in the world. He plays in Lyon for those who doesn't know, and he's 24. He's from Mali.

There are 2 clubs looking after him: us and Madrid.
QUOTE

Capello quiere fichar a Diarra

It says that Capello wants him to pair up with Emerson in the center-midfield. Him or Xabi Alonso.

-

He's being linked with Milan on the last days too. If we get him, we have to play with 1 striker... or sell Gattuso... there are only that options.

Well, let's wait for some news...

I like him too .He is great.
Maybe we can try Pirlo in Seedorf position or we can try to rotate the squad. But these are good problems we need to buy him first

he's been linked with Man U too I think ...

Anyway he is the best in the world and I wish we sign him cause, as I've said before, he's Pirlo's deliverer!!!!

oh and ... Gattuso's going nowhere, I hope we play the victorious "Christmas Tree" ( with Gila, Crespo, Inzaghi at home ) cause Santa's going to award us ... BIG time!!!

I think he is a one of a kind .. The fact that many of the top teams want him says a lot about the player ..

But we r fine at Midfield, we have other positions to patch up ..

Guys what are you talking about???

Do you want Pirlo to play as restricted as last year or do you want him to kick @ss just like in the WC??
It is essential that we buy a real holding midfielder and it would be perfect if we signed Diarra or Mascherano!!!

Well, Pirlo has always played in that position at Milan, and except last season, he has always kicked @ss. Maybe last season was just a bad season for him.
Another reason I don't want to see Diarra at Milan is that I don't want to change the midfield we have right now (Pirlo, Gattuso, Seedorf and Kakà). I love these four guys, I think they make one of the best midfields in the world.

I love those four two ... but who says we'll have to change that quartet? We'll just play the Xtree. You hate that sooooooo much, don't you???? (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif)

Pirlo was great last year. His job was to guard the defence and he did that perfectly ... Like things are his duties won't change this season. If you wanna see him play like before you have two options: buy Diarra or create Robomaldini to orchestrate the defence once again - cause Il Capitano is the reason Pirlo was (more) free to play his playmaking, @ss-kickin' game!!!

Nooooo his position won't change, his duties will.Look it's easy: in Italy he has both Gattuso and Simone Perrotta, two hard-working heroes to help seal the defence thus he's able to be the playmaker. In Milan on the other hand he only has Gattuso and in addition he has to make up for the mistakes of no-good Kaladze.Just watch a game, focus on Pirlo and you'll see what I mean:it's like there was a wall for him placed on midfield ...

I get what you mean. But I think this your idea of yours could only work with the Xtree. And I doubt Ancelotti would like to play with that scheme, since he's fond on the 4-3-1-2 one.

I too like Seedorf a lot, he's one of my favourites but if he goes on playing like last year then - at least in Serie A - we have to play like this.Clarence has won everything, he isn't hungry anyomore ...

we already have seedorf, kaka, pirlo, and gattuso. all 4 of them have way too muich talent to sdit the bench and if diarra comes one of them will sit the bench cuz i dont think diarra will come to sit the bench. seedorf will be wearing the nuymber ten jersey this eason, im sure he wants to prove himself in it. so we wont be getting diarra because we have 4 starters in the mid with great subs.

I think dst is right Pirlo needs to be more free, and I suspect that is what Carlo is going for this season he already said he wanted someone like puma or Da Silva (hope it not puma (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/puke.gif) )

Like dst said Diarra and Gattusa would free up Pirlo from all of his defensive duties and the only way this could works is with either a 4-5-1 (or xmas tree) or a 3-5-2

somthing like these formations would work great I think (I'm going to use some players I think we could get but still use Diarra even though I think he is unlikely)

4-5-1

Oddo-Nesta-Bonera/Kaladze-Janku/Serginho

-------------------Pirlo--Diarra-----------------

----------Gattuso--------------Seadorf---------

-----------------Kaka----------------------------

----------------------Gila/Pippo/Crespo--------

I don't know if this could work but with Diarra next to Pirlohe could be free from his defensive duties and still have Rino pretty much still next to him, and since a lot like seadorf I do to but he can't play like last year I used this formation to still keep the Rino-Pirlo-Seadorf partnership.

The xmas tree is my personal favourite 4-3-2-1

Oddo-Nesta-Bonera/Kaladze-Janku/Serginho

------------Rino-----Pirlo------Diarra-----------

----------------Kaka--Gourcuff/Seadorf--------

--------------------Gila/Pippo/Crespo----------

If we can't manage to get a striker like Sheva was then the 4-3-1-2 is out of the question.

The other solution if we don't get diarra would be a type 0f 4-3-1-1-1 like this

Oddo-Nesta-Bonera/Kaladze-Janku/Serginho

-----------Rino-----Pirlo------Seadorf-----------

---------------------Gourcuff---------------------

--------------Kaka--------------------------------

-----------------------Gila/Pippo/Crespo--------

The 3-5-2 would again work if we get a sheva type strker or play Kaka as the supporting striker

--------Maldini--Nesta--Bonera/Kaladze--------

Foggia--------------------------------Jankulovski

----------------Pirlo--Diarra/Gattuso-------------

----------------------------------Seadorf----------

--------------Kaka---------------------------------
-----------------------Gila/Pippo/Crespo---------

Has there been speculation that Milan are trying to get him? I haven't heard anything.

He certainly is a great player.

As mentioned, the roles Diarra or Pirlo would have to be changed to fit the squad.

This is my favorite lineup and it is better than all yours!!!!!111!11oneone!!! (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/devil.gif)

---------------------Goalkeeper-----------------------------
Alves/Oddo----Nesta--------Kaladze-----Serginho/Janku
---------------------------------------------------------------
----------------Gattuso--------------Diarra----------------
----------------------------Pirlo-----------------------------
--------------------------------------------------------------
-------Kaka------------------------------------Suazo/Torres
--------------------------Gilardino---------------------------

Now, we have our offensive RB and LB. They are runng up and down the flanks.
The three central midfielders should leave the flanks open for our RB/LBs and focus more on the offense from the middle and helpng the defense.
Kaka will have a free role on his right flank. Kind of like Ronaldinho has a free role in Barca. He starts from the flank so he can advance in to the middle for a possible through pass or a shot.
Suazo/Torres will start from the same position as Kaka just from thee other side.
That forwar can be a bit more central although his first position should be at the left.
And we got Mr. Penalty Box in the middle there to do his job better than anyone can.

I don´t know about you guys but this team tastes like sweet honey in my mouth.

geez adoooo...looks like the very brazillian 4-2-4...however your formation could get skewered on a really strong counterattack from the flanks...offensively it looks good...I'll need to think about this one...and then I'll get back to this thread..with my formation...(right now I'm figuring out why nobody likes the 1-1-8) (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif)

Milan Set To Sign Diarra goal.com

The club will meet the player's agent during the week.

The Rossoneri are closer to sign Mahamadou Diarra from Lyon and according to reports from various newspapers, this week Milan will present an offer to the French club.

However, Lyon are demanding a very high price for their player, in the region of 17 to 20 million Sterlings.

Still, in the coming days Ariedo Braida, General Director of Milan, and Frederic Guerra, the player's agent, will meet to try and reach an agreement.

I think goal.com has been one of the most reliable football sites this summer, and if we get Diarra we would play with a 5 man midfield and probably 1 striker, Dirra would play next to Pirlo in the middle infront of the defense probably since that is his postition

I like Diarra, but I don't like his price tag. I just don't think a defensive midfielder is worth £20m, especially to a club like Milan who has Gattuso, Ambro, Brocchi and Vogel in this position. I would spend the money on another defender and a world class striker!

Also, Carlo dropped the hint earlier today that we'll keep playing 4-3-1-2 next season. How defensive will our midfield look! (assuming he replaces Seedorf)...

Diarra - Pirlo - Gattuso

I don't want Diarra. As m1ke says, we have hordes of DM, and good ones at that. Its a bit of the grass is always greener on the other side, where I dont think hell really add anything.

And at some exorbitant price, where we'll be ripped off of valuable cash which, MUST go to new defenders and a proven goal-scoring striker, those are the cruical posns.

Diarra Close To Roma Move - Report The Lens midfielder declared that he is on his way to Rome.

Alou Diarra is ready for a new challenge in the Italian Serie A and for this reason he would like to join the Giallorossi to improve further and play in the Champions League.

“I have the possibility of a new challenge and if everyone agrees, I will go away,” Diarra declared to “L’Equippe”.

“Roma is an ambitious team, they play in the Champions League and I think that the Italian league is a tournament of high level, which can allow me to improve.

“The negotiations are very advanced and my future will be decided in the coming days or weeks.”

If we're going to play with the Xtree in the next season, then Diarra is indispensable. But if Carlo wants to keep playing with the 4-3-1-2 scheme, then we should concentrate on a good quality stiker. Torres possibly.

I thought that will buy Diarra only to leave some space to breathe for Pirlo and Gattuso
We can have 4 good midfielders - Pirlo ,Seedorf ,Gattuso and Diarra
I dont see Ambro or Vogel replacing Pirlo
Anyway from all that i read seems that MILAN its determined to buy him
Maybe not at that price - 20mil (at least i hope so)

I think Ambro and Vogel will leave...

I can understand people saying Diarra is overpriced but you have to remember that there are plenty of forwards who can score goals, but there is a limited amount of top quality DM's in the game. Diarra, IMO, is the best around followed very closely by Mascherano(although he is unproven in Europe).

QUOTE (dst @ Jul 29 2006, 05:31 PM)
Nooooo his position won't change, his duties will.Look it's easy: in Italy he has both Gattuso and Simone Perrotta, two hard-working heroes to help seal the defence thus he's able to be the playmaker. In Milan on the other hand he only has Gattuso and in addition he has to make up for the mistakes of no-good Kaladze.Just watch a game, focus on Pirlo and you'll see what I mean:it's like there was a wall for him placed on midfield ...
*

dst .. believe it or not Kaladze scored against the merda so I can only think highly of him (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

If diarra comes do u think Carlo would bench Seedorf ? I find that highly unlikely, but it's an option.

Ambro won't leave, but if we get Diarra Vogel might, I'm not sure that it would be this summer though.

I know I'v said this a Million times but if we get Diarra we don't need another striker (maybe Crespo if we manage to get him), we would play a 5 man midfield with one striker.

The only players I want to come are Buffon, Oddo/Gallas (or both, but I don't want to be too demanding) and Diarra and also if they can put in Crespo I would welcome him with open arms

A five man midfield with Rino and Diarra would be extremely effective, but Carlo would have to change tactics (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/ohmy.gif)

Well it might have to be done if we can't find a Sheva type striker.

I still think that Carlo was bluffing by saying that we won't change tactics or formations, if you look a t what he said during the world cup you can see that he has other ideas in his mind. He wan't a defensive midfielder to cover for Pirlo and I have a feeling that it will be Diarra.

Diarra resta un altro anno al Lione
18.08.2006 08.26
Fonte: ANSA - www.ansa.it

The president of lyon said that Diarra will play for them for another year

He will be transfered this summer only if they receive a big offer like the one they did have for essien

And I doubt Ancelotti would like to play with that scheme, since he's fond on the 4-3-1-2 one.

Ance seems to love the Xtree. Two strikers is Silvio's choice ...

Anyway some of you correctly mentioned his price tag.We definetely don't need to spend so much on him.We can sell Vogel and and get Mascherano instead - and Tevez along (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/cool.gif) .I think it was all to raise his price up even more thus making it harder for Real. It's war isn't it????Portugal was right on this ... Lyon have accepted a Real Madrid offer, which will see Diarra leave for the spanish side.
