I wonder if he annoyed the board by suggesting that Real could never get Kaka whilst under contract to Milan (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/cool.gif)

Capello axed by Real!

Real Madrid have parted company with Fabio Capello less than a fortnight after he led them to their first La Liga title in four years.

The news comes as little surprise after weeks of speculation in the Spanish Press, but it still seems a strange move by the European giants after their League success last term.

Bernd Schuster seems almost certain to replace the ex-Juve tactician after being released from his contract with Getafe yesterday.

In spite of his eventual success at the Bernabeu, Capello failed to win the hearts of the fans due to his brand of pragmatic football and he had several public spats with President Ramon Calderon.

Today’s announcement was vague as to the reason for the first dismissal of Don Fabio’s impressive career.

“The directors at Real Madrid are grateful for all that has been achieved over the past season, but have decided not to continue with Capello as Coach,” director of sport Pedja Mijatovic explained.

“We don’t think that he is the right person to continue our project.”

Capello’s future remains unclear, but he has suggested in recent weeks that the Real Madrid job may be his last in management.

Hrm. Madrid have also gotten rid of Franco Baldini. (link)

Is this a good thing or a bad thing?

The Spanish press is reporting that Villareal has sold Riquelme & Forlan to Atletico.

Looks like El Nino will be learning Scouse. (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

Bad for him!! I can't wish him to fail cause that would annoy Max so I just wish he scores a lot... but he doesn't win anything!

Good deal for Atlético (Riquelme & Forlán)! If Agüero also develops as expected then they'll have a decent squad next season!! (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

Villa's summer is going even better than Milan's.

Hughes, Samuel, McCann out.

Forlan, Sneijder, Drenthe, Reo-Coker, Nugent, Barton and Babel have all either been sold or won't come. What's the point of having a billionnaire owner if no one will join you. (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/sad.gif)

Great news for Athletico though. They're going to have some serious players in an attacking sense. Forlan, Aguero, Petrov, Maxi, Riquelme. (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/ohmy.gif)

Abidal is almost a Barcelona player... could that mean Zambrotta's way out is now open?? I hope so... and I hope Milan get him if that's really the case!

Getafe say Schuster has not been released as reported earlier today... (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/unsure.gif)

Barcelona Confirm Abidal Capture

FC Barcelona have announced that they have agreed to sign Éric Abidal from Olympique Lyonnais as their summer rebuilding programme continues at full tilt.

The French international revealed that he will complete his medical tomorrow, before signing a four year contract, after the club had stated that a deal had been reached.

After spending several days in the Catalan capital, Abidal will become the Blaugrana's third signing of the summer after Thierry Henry and Yaya Touré were presented earlier this week.

The 27-year-old said officially that he was on holiday in Barcelona, but in reality he was waiting for negotiations with Lyon to be resolved and a deal to be announced.

"The negotiations have been long but now it's done and I'm very happy to play for Barcelona," he told Barça TV.

"Tomorrow morning (Friday) I will undergo a medical and then sign for the club.

"I have spent the last few days in Barcelona on holiday This has allowed me to familiarise myself with the city, the character of the place and the culture of the people."

Abidal won three consecutive French league titles with Lyon following his move from Lille in 2004 and he is an established member of the national team.

Barça have been long-time admirers of the full-back and lengthy negotiations saw the Catalan giants force the fee down.

Lyon originally wanted around €20m, while Barça opened with a bid of €12m before the two sides reached a deal this week.

Hum. Zambrotta's agent denied any Milan or Roma link so I doubt.

-------------------------------------------
Abidal - Marquez - Puyol - Zambrotta
---------------- Valdes -----------------

If you take out Valdes (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) ... you'll have a strong defensive side.

Abidal? (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/huh.gif)

I thought he was the weak link at the World Cup for France, I'd put him in the 'awful' category myself. (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/unsure.gif)

They did it to Del Bosque and haven't won a title in 4 yaers after that.

I wasn't talking about that. I mean this kinda thing you won't see at Milan. He got them a title after a long drought and they just throw him out like that? Total lack of respect and professionalism. Because his footbal wasn't attractive enough? Please... They are only thinking about money and have no values. The won't ever be like Milan (no matter how CL they won).

they did it with hierro too :rolleyes.... what a bunch of dirty ingrates (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/puke.gif)

Yeah, that was low too. Another thing that won't happen at Milan.
