PIPPO ALWAYS SUPER

Pippo Inzagi has been looking back over the season that ended in triumph in Athens and ahead to the new campaign

Pippo Inzaghi was a guest on Milan Channel where he looked back at what was a wonderful season for the striker. He said: 'The night in Athens was magical, scoring twice. I still can't believe it happened. I am going to stay in Italy for my vacation, to be close to everyone, I like the affection from the people. I will be with my family and relax for a bit in the sun.'

As for his contract. 'I feel part of the family and I want to stay. I feel great here and it's a pity that the season is over. I have to thank Berlusconi and Galliani for extending my deal to 2011 before I left for Antwerp. This is the difference with Milan compared to other clubs. I don't think anyone else would have done that before an operation.'

Pippo is now on 284 goals and is setting his sights on 300: 'I want to reach this target but winning trophies with the team is more important.' He was also the first back last summer when Milan had to play the Champions League preliminary round: 'I was in Sardinia, I had just arrived so I got on the first plane back. We knew it wasn't right to have to play it and the first thing I thought was that I would be playing on my birthday (August 9).'

It all ended well in Athens where Pippo scored twice against Liverpool: 'The first was instinctive, it's all you could do in a position like that. I had done it before in the derby. Kakà did well for the second goal. The goalkeeper Reina did well to wait until the last moment and it was lucky the ball went under him. However, once I had gone wide and shot then I knew I had scored.'

President Berlusconi predicted the forward would score both in Munich and Athens: 'He has always had faith in me. He called me before both games to ask me to score two.' As for the national side: 'It's great to be back, we are all together and working alongside the coach.'

Looking ahead to next season: 'The club have done well. The team does not need changing. Then, if a few top players arrive that will help the side. The Italian and foreign players intergrate well. The there are players like Maldini and Costacurta who show everyone how to behave, both at Milanello and on the pitch.'

And what Gilardino has had to say: 'Alberto is young and needs our help. He's a great player and great friend. I think he can be a Milan striker for the next 10 years. He's well liked in the dressing room and this is important.'

Pippo is looking forward to playing in the Club World Cup: 'I am looking forward to going back and we really want to win it but it's one thing at a time and first we have the European Super Cup. We have five objectives we want to reach.'

On other themes: 'Maldini should win the Golden Ball for his career and Kakà for what he has done this season. I am pleased Ancelotti has renewed his contract. It wasn't easy for him to make the decision over the strikers for the final in Athens. The coach had to look at the moment not the past.'

A final word for the fans: 'I want to thank them. They have always remained close to me, not just in Athens but through the difficult times.'

This is a great example of how players are treated at Milan. This is one of the reasons why Milan under Silvio Berlusconi will remain on top. The serenity and family like atmosphere at Milan is what keeps the team in contention and a sense of responsibility towards AC Milan. I have never heard of a player that leaves Milan on bad terms and if that happens then he would regret it and still feel a sense of belonging to Milan. Look at Rivaldo, he played for us 2 seasons at best, but he was there in Athena supporting the side. Shevchenko, we all know that he has regretted moving to Chelsea. Rui Costa, he still feels that he is attached to Milan, you could sense it in the letter he wrote to the club.

I am proud to be a fan (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/king.gif)

p.s. u don't see any of the ugly talks that you see between top clubs and their players. Trezeguet is a fresh example.

But everyone knows that they never played at the level of Milan (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/wink.gif)

Look at Kakha, he doesn't talk much and he is considered a bench player. Oliveira, he hasn't peeped a word (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/wink.gif) They know that they have nothing to say, they know that they failed to deliver to the level of Milan .. At least that is how I see it.

But calling the Champions of Europe cr@p ?? Well, I guess, before we won this competition, the whole world was calling us cr@p, who is the winner at the end (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/king.gif)

Illogical...would u rather have a pint or spend it on betting?

Well if it's to bet on Milan, you can do it double ur cash, and buy two pints. Heh heh (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) I answered my own question...

Laursen doesn't like Milan?

Ah well, everytime he played for us this season, we didn't lose. One of the best defenders we've had for a long time. (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/cool.gif)

QUOTE
Inzaghi's favourite year

Pippo Inzaghi looks back at the greatest 12 months of his career, but after the World Cup and Champions League he wants more with Milan.

“In the last year I have lived through something extraordinary,” said the striker. “To win the World Cup and Champions League is the dream of any player from when he first starts kicking a ball.”

Although he only scored one goal in the Germany 2006 tournament – in the only game he played in – SuperPippo was the decider with a brace in the 2-1 Athens victory over Liverpool.

“I still can’t quite believe what happened. This is why I often rewatch the game with Liverpool so I can confirm to myself it was all real.”

He’s not done yet, though, as the ambitious hitman who will turn 34 in August already has his sights set on more silverware.

“We have now created a magical atmosphere at Milan. It’s fairly unique and that is why it’s no coincidence we have played three Champions League Finals in five years.

“I am on holiday, but already thinking ahead to the first game at San Siro. It will be so wonderful. We have to focus on a good start in Serie A and winning the European Super Cup.”

The Rossoneri will take on UEFA Cup winners Sevilla in Monaco on August 31.

That form earned him a recall to the Azzurri squad under Coach Roberto Donadoni and praise for his commitment to the international cause.

“I really care about wearing the Italy jersey and if I am fit then I am more than happy to attend. I have a clear and wonderful rapport with Donadoni, who had already told me of his respect before the Final in Athens.”

He made an impressive comeback in the two Euro 2008 qualifiers against the Faroe Islands and Lithuania.

“I found a compact and united squad,” continued Inzaghi. “I think that the group, friendship, respect and the ability to accept very difficult decisions made by the Coach are the key to successes like the ones we had in Berlin and for Milan in Athens.”
