I'd have thought everyone would put club before country, even fans.

He speaks it very well, too.
Alot of the Milan team do, they interviewed about 10 players before/after the CL Final.

I can't say for certain since I've never been alive during a period where my club or country has had huge success.
All I can say is when I watch videos of Villa winning the European Cup, it's more 'emotional' for me than watching England win the World Cup.
A club is something you choose, a country is something you're born with. A club is more personal to you than your country.. For me anyways.
