Amauri: I’ll be back

Palermo striker Amauri is confident that he will be fully fit for the start of next season as he continues his rehabilitation from knee surgery.

The Rosanero limped out of the last match of 2006 after a collision with Siena goalkeeper Alex Manninger and was operated on in Rome by Professor Pierpaolo Mariani, the specialist who contributed to Francesco Totti’s amazing recovery after he fractured his ankle last year.

“I am feeling fairly good and I am looking forward to continuing the work I started in Rome in the past few months,” said the Brazilian to the club’s website after returning to Palermo on Monday.

“I want to be ready for next season’s kick-off, I want to be at my best,” added the striker.

“To be honest, I have only watched two matches since I was sidelined, it makes me sad to see my teammates play without me being able to give my contribution.”

Palermo had an impressive start to the season, but their recent performances have left them in real danger of losing their grip on a Champions League spot, as the islanders are tailed closely by Lazio, Empoli and Milan.

“I have always said that any team can go through a difficult moment and that is what is happening to Palermo, nothing more than that,” explained Amauri.

“I am sure we will soon return to our best form. I don’t believe that the team’s performances depend on my presence, we might have been in the same situation even with me on the pitch.

“The only thing I hope is that my return next season will maybe bring back some of the luck that we have been lacking recently and that is essential to achieve important results.”

Palermo will host in-form Fiorentina over the weekend in what promises to be an intriguing clash, as the Viola are eight points shy of a Champions League spot despite their initial 15-point penalisation.

6 points behind Palermo with a game in hand. C'mon, need them to keep dropping points.

Totti has scored 18 goals (3 pen.) so far this season and he's also missed 5 penalties! (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/ohmy.gif)

Toni scored 15 goals .. none of them were from penalties (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/wink.gif) I still think we should have gotten Luco instead of Alberto (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif)

They have scored the same number of real-play goals but Totti is not a forward. I dunno who will lead our front line next season but I really miss a world class forward up there! (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/sad.gif)

Or the beating of his lyfe , forcing him to wrapped up in the middle of the net, then continuesly aim shots at his balls and other areas till he says he will score no matter what.

Hmm, for me Totti is pretty much a forward, he can also be a midfielder, but he's best in beeing a forward. For me he's pretty much like a more excentric twin of Del Pierro.

^^^

Totti is a forward .. In fact he is so fluid on the pitch, u could play him in several positions ... If there is a player I would want ahead of R10; believe it or not it is Totti !
