QUOTE (dst @ Dec 2 2006, 10:26 PM) He had made up his mind while Alessandro just needs to feel he's important!! Plus he deserves it. I can't see why Seedorf should take it and Nesta shouldn't; he's giving his best in every game and "rossonerity" is not countable... (IMG: http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) (or that's just me talking) Come on Nesta stay at the San Siro forever!! (IMG: http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/devil.gif) I don't think that it's about feeling important, he knows that he is our most important defender. I think his heart has always been with Lazio. Just think of him as Roma's Totti, but he was MADE to leave because the club had no other choice. I'm pretty sure that if Lazio hadn't had all those financial problems he would never had left. I personally think that he will play at least his final year at Lazio, no matter what we offer him. It's just being realistic about the whole situation

I can't tell han... I don't know what's happening inside him, he might want to stay. I can't be certain that he'll leave as I'd never though I'd see Sheva play for another team!! Plus there's always the Lolito factor; nobody likes that as shole down there at Rome... I can only hope!! (IMG: http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/king.gif)

Sandro is the last of the old gaurd (IMG: http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/sad.gif) And he would be a huge loss to the club, but as you said you never know what's going on inside a person's head, he might want to stay or he might want to go, and in the end that's his choice. I guess we'll get a hint of what he will do if he decides to renew his contract in these next 2 years

Even today Kakà was in doubt until the last minute and there are still seven out. Then, as some of the players return this can be seen in the results. The team understand that the clock is ticking down and that we can’t lose any more points. The teams ahead of us in the table have slowed down. We will strike at Udine. We want the Champions League.’ A final word: ‘I asked my players for two victories in the last two games.’ acmilan.com

Only way is up, says Kaká Friday, 8 December 2006
Kaká's superb form has been one of the highlights of a difficult season for AC Milan. The Brazilian midfielder's five goals in the group stage ensured Milan qualified with two games to spare and he is confident the Rossoneri will be back to their best when the UEFA Champions League resumes in February. In the first of a series of diary entries for uefa.com, he reflects on the ups and downs of Milan's season so far and admits he's hoping to avoid FC Barcelona in Friday's draw.
'Unusual situation' So far, so good for AC Milan. We might have lost two games in the group stage, but I'd rather focus on the fact that the team had already qualified with games to spare. It’s not for me to underestimate the effort put on by AEK and Lille, but perhaps we unconsciously lifted a bit the foot from the gas pedal for those two matches. Having said that, nobody appreciated being beaten. Especially when AC Milan are in a very unusual and unpleasant situation in Serie A. We are talking about a club used to winning. People are always going to be demanding results.
Tough at the top Many journalists ask me why AC Milan are performing so differently in Serie A and in the Champions League. I reckon it's not only because of everything that has happened in Italian football recently. In Serie A there are a lot of smaller sides that are well accustomed to coming up against giants. They put a lot of men behind the ball and make things really hard for the top clubs. It is very different in the Champions League. Although you might argue some teams tend to play a supporting role, the tournament has the biggest teams in their respective countries. Lille and AEK, for example, are big in France and Greece and are used to actually giving it a go.
'Work to do' Because of our difficult situation in Serie A, it's natural for AC Milan to have high hopes for the Champions League and every player would love to lift that trophy someday. But we can’t forget that it's in Serie A that we need to book our place for the competition next year. There is a lot of work to do. As for the next round, I don't really think we should be choosing opponents, although I have to say nobody would be happy to be drawn against Barcelona. They have a wonderful squad and seem to have got themselves together after a very difficult first round. Nobody knows, however, how things will be in February. They are certainly not unbeatable and we might have to be the ones to prove it if Barça are drawn against AC Milan. I am pleased to see Ronaldinho playing well. He's an exceptional player.
'Thrilled' AC Milan are getting better and we can still improve. I'm thrilled with the fact I’m one of the top scorers in the Champions League so far, even though topping the list is not a main objective for me – I'd rather lift the trophy that we came so close to winning in 2005. It's the result of a lot of hard work. I still sometimes think of my third goal against Anderlecht, especially when people ask me to pick either that or the one I scored for Brazil against Argentina in a friendly played in London three months ago. I treasure both of them, but the one against Argentina was something else. I had to run almost 70 metres being chased by Lionel Messi. Believe me, that's hard…

Kaká wary of Nakamura Friday, 5 January 2007
AC Milan may have breathed a sigh of relief when they missed FC Barcelona in the UEFA Champions League draw, but in his latest diary entry for uefa.com Kaká warns not to underestimate Celtic FC when the two sides meet next month.
Concentration Last time I said nobody was willing to draw Barcelona in the next round of the UEFA Champions League, but it doesn’t mean AC Milan should feel lucky to have avoided them. At this point of the competition there are no easy ties. Ties that might look simple can end up being very tough and complex. Sometimes it's better to draw a team with more tradition in order to keep everybody on their toes, especially in terms of concentration.
Nakamura threat There are no easy sides in the UEFA Champions League, which has been proven time and again in recent years. Any slump can prove fatal. Celtic certainly aren’t just hoping to enjoy qualifying for the knockout stages for the first time. I played them a couple of seasons ago with Milan and we had to work hard to win 3-1 at home and draw in Glasgow. Although Celtic have changed managers and some key players, I don't really think there have been major alterations to their playing philosophy. I remember Celtic as a team are very strong physically and look to use dead-ball situations to their advantage. This is certainly a very interesting ace up their sleeve now they have [Shunsuke] Nakamura and his free-kicks.
Ups and downs The fact Celtic kept a clean sheet against us in Glasgow a couple of seasons ago is strong evidence that the Scots will be looking to cause another upset, just like they did against Manchester United last year. People ask me if Milan's highs and lows in form can give Celtic some belief, but I prefer to think about our good European pedigree which always demands respect, even when we have been fluctuating between good and bad moments. We have a good chance to get things going in Serie A from next week and then build up for the UEFA Champions League ties against Celtic. Naturally, however, they will be looking to cause us all sorts of problems. But I don't see them behaving like the sides we face in Serie A. Teams in the UEFA Champions League are big clubs used to going forward and getting results.
Scoring rival A Brazilian journalist has taunted me by saying that Nakamura's free-kick against United will make people scratch their heads when trying to decide the best goal of the UEFA Champions League so far. Before then there was that strike of mine against Anderlecht. I saw Nakamura's goal and was really impressed by how he hit the ball so well, let alone that the goal was so important for Celtic's campaign. Having said that, I'd love to score the most beautiful goal of this year's competition.
New generation Unfortunately, even our winter break did not allow me to stay in Brazil for long. I only spent a few days there and just had time to see my relatives and some close friends. The Brazilian footballing season had already finished so I couldn't see in person how our football is doing. But I regularly follow the games on TV when I'm in Italy and have seen that a lot of new players have come through, as they usually do [in Brazil]. This year will be important for us because the South American qualifiers for the World Cup begin and we've got a new generation of players.
Cannavaro achievement One of my mates, Ronaldinho, had another chance to be voted the best player in the world, but Fabio Cannavaro had the last laugh. He was one of last season's best players and although there are always a few others who deserve to be called the best in the world, Cannavaro was a very good choice, and the first defender to win it. After all, he represents Italy, the world champions. It was a well-earned accolade for him.
Training hard As for AC Milan, we still have a lot of work to do before even thinking of Celtic. We have been training hard in Malta ahead of the second half of the season and I'm sure this will be good for us to patch up a few things and get ready for a very hard campaign. Not only do we have the UEFA Champions League to focus on, but we're in a complicated position in Serie A and need to guarantee a place in next year's UEFA Champions League, which is why nobody can be talking about prioritising one or another competition. The first half of the season was hard on the domestic front because of the punishment handed to the club, but we can't look back now.

Kaká issues Ronaldo welcome Friday, 26 January 2007
There has been much talk about January signings and one of the players linked to AC Milan was Ronaldo.
'Delightful' I don't need to tell anybody how important he has been to football for the last decade and it would be delightful to play alongside Ronaldo again. Regardless what people say, I believe that he still has a lot to offer in football if he keeps himself motivated enough.
Favouring Luis Fabiano Having said that, AC Milan know what they are doing in terms of looking for players. If they asked me for a youngster they could sign, I would say Luis Fabiano, a striker who has been doing really well in Spain this season. He plays for Sevilla FC, who are giving FC Barcelona and Real Madrid CF a run for their money in the Primera División.
Hard times But nobody is immune from hard times in football. As most of you know, AC Milan have had a fair share of trouble in Serie A this season and that somehow overshadowed our campaign in the UEFA Champions League.
Ancelotti ability One thing we can't complain about, however, is lack of support from the board. They have publicly showed support for Carlo Ancelotti, our coach, and I think this is a fundamental step to guarantee a smooth atmosphere at AC Milan. Coaches need peace to work. I admire Ancelotti for his ability to manage egos. He has got a big group of players, many of them stars, but always makes everybody feel part of the team even when one or another player does not get many games. This is a big virtue.
Portugal encounter The year 2007 is a special one for Brazilians wanting to be part of the national team. We have the Copa América and the start of FIFA World Cup qualifiers, but right now we are thinking of the friendly against Portugal in London on 6 February. It will be a very interesting test - Portugal finished amongst the top four in the World Cup and they won their last game against us in 2003. It's also a great opportunity for the Brazilian players to show our coach what we can do.
Happy memories It will be great to be back in London, a city that will forever bring good memories to me because of that goal I scored against Argentina last September. It was a beauty, one of the best of my career, and it was also important because it was my first game for Brazil since the World Cup.
Shevchenko friendship Maybe when I am in London I will also have a chance to catch up with my friend Andriy Shevchenko. I was glad to see him scoring goals again this week. Sheva is a top guy and one of the best strikers in the world and I can assure anybody that all those stories about his behaviour in the dressing room are rubbish. He has always proved to be loyal to his team mates in Milan and can be a good friend.
Best to come It is always hard for a player to adapt to a new country and a new school of football and that's why the English haven't seen the same player he was in Italy. Sooner rather than later he will become one of the stars of the Premiership, I'm sure.
