Jim’ll Fix It for Lazio
Monday 15 January, 2007

Lazio have completed the signing of Luis Jimenez from Ternana, according to the capital club’s chief Claudio Lotito.

The midfielder was contracted to the Serie C outfit until 2010 and had already been paired with the Biancocelesti outfit in the summer, before his transfer failed at the last minute.

The 22-year-old then took legal action against Ternana, as he believed his contract with the Rossoverdi was no longer valid following their relegation, and was expected to pen a deal sometime after today.

“We have signed Jimenez from Ternana,” said Lotito to the Italian Press. “The entire deal will cost us around £7.8m.”

The chief then commented on Massimo Oddo’s position, as the player has made it clear that he would favour an immediate move to Milan, where he grew up in the youth system.

“I will do what I can to please the player, but Lazio remain my priority – I must consider our needs first,” explained Lotito.

“Lazio cannot be considered a land to conquer anymore, they now have a strong President who knows how to take important decisions.

“If Milan had asked for the player to move in July it would be different, but letting him go today would mean to strengthen one of our direct competitors for the Champions League spots.”

In the meantime, Oddo confirmed that he will play in Sunday’s match against Milan at the Stadio Olimpico, when he will wear the captain’s armband as usual.

“I will be the captain on Sunday. I am sure some supporters will understand, while the other part will interpret the fact differently, but I hope that everyone will be able to comprehend my position.”

off topic I know...but I'm too lazy to post a new topic , besides I'm going off and coming back only after an hour or so.

Check out tribal. Says something about a spat between Pippo and Carletto. Pippo did look pissed when he stormed off towards the dressing room.
I'm hoping it was just coz he wanted to take a sh!t. He was definitely our best player after Seedorf till then.

I think it originated from there. You know how the media picks up on this stuff.

Pippo needs to get himself in check though providing the media with ammo is not a good thing. Also he can't expect to be played in every game for the entire 90 minutes, he isn't 26 anymore.

Pippo when he is not scoring is just totally useless, add to that that he is a selfish player, and never tries to make the assist for a free player he can become a hindrance when he isn't scoring.

He will get his chance like lst season, but until he starts scoring we simply cannot keep playing him.

He had a good game last night, but for example when he made that great run with the ball instead of just passing the ball to the open Gila he continued to try and dribble it and pass 2 players.

But mon ami...there were at least three instances when Pippo did try to cross the ball over to Gila. And twice Gila was outmuscled, once the bloke was somewhere else.

I really think a Oli-Pippo pairing is overdue. Might be interesting, seeing as how Pippo has a much better sense of positioning than Gila. And yesterday I was pleasantly surprised to see he could actually dribble.

I vote we play a 4-2-2-2 next match.

Still think that Oli and Gila are our best pairing, they link up better with each other, Pippo has a gift of being in the right place at the right time but he isn't scoring and we need our strikers to score goals and Gila is the one that is currently coming up with the goods.

I personally think that Pippo doesn't link up well with any strik partner, cause when he gets the ball instead of trying the forward pass he always usually gives it back to a midfielder. Gila has the better technique to link up with another forward.

As for the 4-2-2-2, Kaka doesn't play well in that formation and we should play to his strengths, I know that Seedorf seems to play much better in the trequartista role and although Seedorf is a worthy player to have the team playing to his strengths, cause on his day he can kill a team off on his own, Kaka isn';t player that can be overlooked no matter how good Seedorf is playing.

Against Lazio we should stick to the 4-3-1-2 with Seedorf, Pirlo and Rino in midfield and Kaka behind Oli and Gila

He-he!! Wouldn't it be awesome if come tomorrow morning there was an article up on channel4 reading:

QUOTE
On what has been a surprising outcome of a complicated deal Lazio president Claudio Lotito announced this morning that international full-back Massimo Oddo signed for AC Milan for just ₤10.000. AC Milan patron and former Italy prime-minister Don Silvio Berlusconi stated: "We made him an offer he couldn't refuse".

An interesting formation would be:

________Dida
_Oddo__x____x__Janku
_______Pirlo________
_Kaka_______Gourcuff
______Seedorf______
___Gila______Oli____

with Oddo and Janku mostly devoted to their defensive duties. What do you think?
