Kaká the king of Milan
Thursday, 2 November 2006

After masterminding AC Milan’s 4-1 victory against RSC Anderlecht last night by way of his first UEFA Champions League hat-trick, Kaká reflected on "a very special evening".

Crowd-pleaser (like he's trying ... (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif) )
In a match that left Milan on the verge of the knockout stages, the brilliant Brazilian scored a sixth-minute penalty before starting and finishing a rapier-like counterattacking move on 22 minutes and then completing his hat-trick with a spectacular 56th-minute strike. Roland Juhász's header hinted at an Anderlecht recovery before Alberto Gilardino's late effort finished the contest but Kaká was unquestionably the man of the moment.

'Special evening'
"Scoring a hat-trick in the Champions League is really very special," he told uefa.com. "I've scored a hat-trick for Milan once before but this was my first in the Champions League and so it was a very special evening for me." With five goals in the competition already this season, Kaká is now joint top goalscorer with Didier Drogba – underlining his growing status as one of the game’s leading players.

Cafu praise
Team-mate Cafu, who combined with Kaká for the second goal considers him "the best there is", with the right-back claiming his international team-mate should be voted European Footballer of the Year: "You only need to look at what he does on the pitch. Just look at the facts and see how many matches he decides, how many defences he unhinges - he takes two or three players out at a time with his skill and I think he deserves to win the Ballon d'Or."

'Getting better'
The ever-modest Kaká, however, insisted he still has much to learn. "It's a really good period in my career but I think I need to put on good displays when the side isn't playing well too - in the Italian championship, for example - but I think I'm getting better every day." The 4-1 win was a nice way to exorcise the ghosts of Saturday's 4-3 defeat by FC Internazionale Milano – another game in which Kaká scored – and he said his side's performance was a nice way to respond. "We continued from where we left off in the second half in the derby and carried it into this game."

'Best goal'
Even Kaká had to admit that his last goal of the night - his 16th in 39 UEFA Champions League games - was impressive, even by his standards. Picking the ball up from deep, he exchanged passes with Clarence Seedorf before beating two players and curling in a shot from 20 metres out. "It is one of best goals I've ever scored, mainly because it gave me my first Champions League hat-trick. That definitely makes it one of the best and most important goals I've scored."

Of course Paolo is the king. Let's say we have a Kaiser (Baresi), a King (Maldini) and a prince (Ricky) (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/king.gif)

Milan reiterate Kaka-Ronnie dream
By Graeme Bailey - Created on 2 Nov 2006

Milan are lauding their prized asset Kaka and their owner Silvio Berlusconi has reiterated his desire to link him up with Ronaldinho.

Kaka was the subject of summer speculation that he could be on his way to Real Madrid, however the Rossoneri resisted their overtures for the 24-year-old.

The Brazilian has produced some sparkling displays in recent weeks and he capped that with a hat-trick against Anderlecht on Wednesday.

"He is the strongest in the world," his boss Carlo Ancelotti said.

"There are lots of great players in circulation, but nobody is worth as much as him.

"Nobody has more determination or is capable of making such a difference in a match. He is better than Ronaldinho.

"With Kaka in this kind of form, I'm looking forward to seeing who they award the Golden Ball to."

Milan owner Berlusconi said he would more likely try for Ronaldinho, rather than contemplating letting Kaka leave.

"I won't exchange Ronaldinho with Kaka," Berlusconi said

"Anyway, should there be the possibility, we will try to sign him.

"Ronaldinho in any case would have to come to Milanello [Rossoneri's headquarter], have all the training sessions, engage himself and show to be a player for Milan."

Vice-president Adriano Galliani also paid tribute to former Milan star Leonardo - who he credits with tipping them off about Kaka - before they snapped him up from Sao Paulo.

"I thank him because he was decisive in that negotiation in summer 2003. Now Leonardo can also present me with a few wrong players and I'll forgive him. Kaka is a life's insurance", Galliani told.

The player himself was trying to avoid the press clamour about whether he would be landing the Ballon d'Or.

"Certainly, I would like to win it very much, but I can only do my duty, then hope that I'm rewarded for the results," Kaka said.

"For now, though, I want to play as well as I can for Milan and my national team.

"I don't feel that I've fulfilled my potential yet. There's always something I can improve on."

Kaka rules, says survey Thursday 2 November, 2006

A survey in Brazilian newspaper O’Globo insists Milan ace Kaka is better than Barcelona star Ronaldinho.

A massive 82 per cent have backed the Rossoneri sensation with the stuttering European Footballer of the Year winning just 18 per cent of the vote.

Kaka has been in fine form for the Italian club this term and netted a hat-trick in the 4-1 win over Anderlecht in the Champions League last night.

Meanwhile, Milan target Ronaldinho has struggled to live up to his billing as the best player in the world.

The former Paris Saint-Germain ace endured a disappointing 2006 World Cup and has started the season slowly at the Nou Camp.

Kaka: I was wrong to play
Created on 19 Nov 2006

Kaka has revealed that he should not have played in Brazil's World Cup quarter final against France as he was not fully fit.

The 24-year-old playmaker lined up against Les Bleus after telling coach Carlos Alberto Parreira he could play.

Brazil lost the game 1-0 and Kaka has now admitted he was still feelings the effects of the bruised knee he suffered against Ghana in the previous round.

"I told professor Parreira that I could play," he said in an interview with Brazilian television.

"It was my mistake, and I was wrong to have played because when you play with an injury, it limits you.

"In the World Cup, you're amid all that euphoria and you don't know what might happen."

Kaka also criticised Brazil's World Cup preparations in Switzerland, where paying crowds of around 5,000 people watched their training sessions.

"One thing which got in the way was the number of people during the preparations, it affected the concentration of the players and is something which could be improved in the future," he explained.
