Spalletti respects San Siro sidesRoma may be top of the Serie A table, but Luciano Spalletti warns they’re still not up to the level of Inter and Milan.
“In my view, Inter have a little something more than us, which for that matter so do Milan,†said the Coach.
“We have fans who give us their contagious enthusiasm and we’re working in an important city. You can’t help but be motivated in these conditions, not to mention the passion I’ve had for the sport ever since I started out as a player.â€
The Giallorossi had finished fifth last term, which became second place following the Calciopoli scandal, but following their strong start can consider themselves Scudetto contenders.
“I think we’re stronger than last season. We tried to improve the squad over the summer and to a degree we achieved that objective. Francesco Totti told the Press he wanted more signings because he obviously has ambitions for this side and wants to charge up the team. We all want to improve.â€
Totti has gone on hiatus from the Azzurri until 2007 in order to achieve full fitness after fracturing his ankle in February.
“It’s always a wonderful feeling when your players are called for international duty,†assured Spalletti. “I think most players feel the same way and Roma have never tried to put obstacles in their path.â€
Roma have also impressed in the Champions League and with rumours of a contract extension, it’s believed Spalletti can implement a new successful era at the Stadio Olimpico.
“We have been doing well for quite a while now. Apart from looking at individual performances, there has been a consistency and general approach to the sport that I have appreciated. This is the most important thing.â€
