What I have noticed though is that although the intensity is a bit too all over the place at times rather than concentrated, this is probably the fittest the team's looked all year. Last season it was like we never were really able to get to peek physical shape, and all the games kept rolling in non stop. Then the injuries kept happening and we limped through the season.

Now, after a proper pre-season we look much fitter

Too easy

Although we're a bit too wide open at the back imo. That goal from Cagliari happened because Tomori was running around in midfield and left the back exposed.

Yes, we're too wide open at the back. Every time Cagliari attack I feel like they might score.

True, I hope we find the right balance. Let's not forget our starting mids, Bennacer and Kessie are not playing. They are really responsible for organizing the team.

Playing both Krunic and Tonali in front of defence is part of the reason there imo. Both want to move the ball forward and it's leaving the defence a bit exposed. The other part has to do with the fact that we're playing like a bunch of excited kids.

We need to control these types of games better imo. We saw it last week against Samp, we're seeing it again today. Very rushed, f@ckin about with the ball in dangerous areas and generally taking too many unnecessary risks.

Also, I know you got on Leao's case earlier but he's been good imo.

Same goes with Alexis. Love this guy. If only he can start scoring and assisting regularly he's be a quality player

Good first half. I think 4-1 is a bit excessive (free kick goal, lucky Brahim bounce, asinine hands of Strootman), but nevertheless we pushed and created, so I think it's deserved.

We need to keep the brainfart moments in defence to a bare minimum. Their goal was unforgivable.

PS: I love Tonali.

Tonali is really something isn't he. Something seemed to have clicked in his brain. Last year, I think he was too drained mentally, he spoke about it in one interview. It was hard for him in a new team and also the loan situation and not knowing if it will be resolved.

This

We miss the generals in front of the defence.

Tonali has been top notch and I can't complain about Krunic either as he hasn't done anything wrong. But both are generally CMs who like to advance the ball. And it is leaving us a bit exposed for sure

The work-rate of Alexis is second to none.

I'm a bit puzzled about the defence too, last year it was our strongest asset. Like you said it has to do with the Tonali-Krunic duo. Bakayoko will solve that. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif)

Agreed. Great first 2 games. I want to see more from him, but when Kessie and Benna are back they have to start ahead of him.

Makes me wish we can change to a 3-man midfield tbh, even though I favour the 4-2-3-1. It's just a shame someone will have to miss out. Bakayoko as well who was top notch when he was with us

Let's not forget it's our first time playing in the San Siro with fans since a long time. Players must be hyped up.

Second half of pure administration though we could have easily scored the 5th. I think we still need to work on our end product a lot. Sometimes we move the ball well but then f*ck everything up with the last couple of passes.

Very positive game overall. Giroud was good. I like his movements and touches, and he's shown great desire thus far. I remember in an interview he said he still feels like a 20 year old so that's a good thing.

Now NT break, next 3 games will be death. Lazio at home, Liverpool away and Juventus away.

Wow, the next three games will be tough, but also exciting. Forza Milan!

Don't have any expectations for that Liverpool game tbh. Just want the 3 points against Lazio and Juve. We should be able to do it imo. Especially with Kessie and Bennacer back; maybe Zlatan too.

How Pioli managed Zlatan and Oli G. will tell us a lot imo

Games are going to be coming in thick and fast after this break. Pioli needs to rotate well to keep everyone happy and in good condition
