Funny thing is that I was all ready to post this image here a few days back. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/happy.gif) I saw it rather early, and was waiting for the right time to post it. And now it's pretty much everywhere, ha!

Hopefully Greece can get the goal they need, they play the best football in the tournament.

Funny thing is that this match could have been a Greek vs Roman affair. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif) Ancient battles in a new age!

QUOTE (Danny @ Jun 29 2014, 07:46 PM) *
I reserve my judgement on both France AND Argentina till they face each other.

PS I said at the time the Holland result V Spain told us far more about Spain than it did about Holland, and their subsequent struggles V Australia and today v Mexico bear that out to an extent.

Agreed on both counts. Argentina are great up front (although we really haven't seen what they can produce so far imo), but it's panic stations at the back when they have to defend, so the jury is out on them as well.

QUOTE (Fillipo Simone @ Jun 29 2014, 09:01 PM) *
Won't Germany face France first and then eventually (a big if) Argentina?

Yep, sorry, got my KO map mixed up

Even worse for them then, I think Germany have so far struggled as well in this WC, they will be a good test for each other, then again, I think Germany will at the least get to that semi-final, there's no Italy or Spain to spoil their party this time around (I absolutely cannot even think about them winning this thing, I'll get sick)

Yep, I wonder how much the players and Prandelli are kicking themselves for the disgusting showings they produced in those 2 games. Because had they gone through to the KOs I'd have been confident that they'd have a great run in this world cup, they had all the tools to do it, but Prandelli and some of the players let themselves and the fans down big time

Agreed. We did not have a great team, but the overall quality this year is not that great either. A better team selection, more serious work practices (link), and better game tactics could have made a big difference. Pity.

IMHO, getting predictions right or wrong is not all that relevant to this discussion (yes, his record there is not that great). What matters is his understanding of the game, which (with all due respect) exceeds all of ours. And, unlike other "legends" who have opined on this issue, AFAIAK Pele always conducted himself above reproach (no "hand of God", no tax evasion, no drugs, no on-field brawls, etc).

He could be the Saint of Brazil, doesn't make his opinion any more valid.

Well Forza Milan! said everything I wanted to say, word for word. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) Makes my reply pointless.

Hmm, Socratis Papastathopoulos, name sounds familiar. (IMG:http://i1061.photobucket.com/albums/t473/iamsuperman85/smileys/shifty_zps78b00712.gif) (IMG:http://i1061.photobucket.com/albums/t473/iamsuperman85/smileys/rofl_zps640c0d5d.gif)

Mentioning Greece, I liked what I saw from Holebas/Cholevas/Cholebas. How good is the guy on regular basis?
