QUOTE (KillerMax @ Jan 28 2014, 04:22 PM) I've always had this philosophy, if you don't have a lot of money, buy few and buy quality. When I was in college, I made a tight budget for clothing. I decided to buy only a handful of stuff for that first year, but I bought some of the best stuff I could get my hands on for the cheapest deals I could find. For the next couple of years, I didn't have 10 shirts to choose from, but I looked money, I felt good and my budget was intact. But then I always see these people with similar budgets to mine, go to walmart and buy 10 shirts and 3 pants... And complain about not having money and being poor. YOU ARE STUPID.
Morale of story? Milan are stupid. Your philosophy sounds good in theory and I completely agree when it comes to clothes but it falls apart when translating to players for one simple reason: injuries. With clothing a more expensive item also corresponds with greatly increased durability. You can have only one or two items when they are extremely well made and last a long time. We don't have the same promise when it comes to players. Just because some one is a quality player doesn't mean they are less likely to get injured and when they do we'll be even thinner in back up. I agree we should trim down the squad and make smart purchases but it really isn't an apples to apples comparison.

Thank you. I spent a long time wondering how to articulate the above thought then mentally flipped the bird at Max and peaced out.

I see it like this:
In footballing terms, it's pretty much irrelevant if the "injury backup" is Zaccardo or the primavera player Davide Pacifico.
But financial terms matter as well. Pacifico (he's just a metaphor) is costing us peanuts and get's a shot in the big league, while Zaccardo costed us transfer money, his yearly salary and probably won't move when we try getting rid of him.

That's good. I really think he deserves a shot.

And this wasn't an easy game to start with at all.
