Oliveira wins Altafini approval

Former Milan striker Jose Altafini was left impressed by Ricardo Oliveira’s debut with the Rossoneri when Andriy Shevchenko’s replacement scored the winner against Lazio.

The Italian giants started to wipe out their eight-point deficit defeating Lazio 2-1 in their opening match at San Siro, with Oliveira netting just 10 minutes after being sent on to the pitch as a substitute.

“He is a fast player, very dynamic in his movements and he sometimes reminds me of Antonio Careca,” said Altafini, who wore the Milan jersey between 1958 and 1965 by netting 120 goals in 250 matches.

“I had seen him play with Santos where he had impressed me and yesterday he played a very good match,” continued the former Italian international.

“As all Brazilians, he went on to the pitch with no fear and behaved as if he had been a Milan player for a long time.

“I knew he would immediately adapt to playing with Kaka and Clarence Seedorf.”

Oliveira signed a five-year deal with Milan after Real Betis accepted £12m plus midfielder Johann Vogel in return, but was considered an unknown object until his weekend unveiling.

“He has all the characteristics to become a very good player,” continued Altafini. “Once you find the goal you never forget it, but we now don’t have to put too much pressure on the player.

“We must remember that Milan are not yet on top form. When a team plays well it also help all its players to give their best and Oliveira can still improve a lot.”

I just hope that all this praise won't make him feel like a new god or something like that.

I agree that he is e very good player, but peoples are talking to much about his performance in debut match and that just can affect him negatively coz he'll think that he is the "real Sheva". But no no... he need to score a lot this season to prove that!
But after all...... I really liked him! I never saw him play before but the goal, the dribbling between two Lazio players, (although he could have passed to KAKA, he was selfish) and the shot at the last minutes of the match showed me that he is a GREAT player (very fast, and very good technic and ball control)

P.S. Just hope he'll countinue like that.

I don't think that he thought that Peruzzi would have saved that one, he seemed very sure that that was going in, Peruzzi just made a miracle save on that one.

He is selfish!!! every single striker is ... after all their job is scoring goals why should they let the others do it!!!!?? (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/wink.gif)

Well ofcourse he was selfish in that one, but that's why I said that he really didn't think that Peruzzi would have saved that one, I was watching replays of it and that shot was just PERFECTLY placed.

This is the reason why I always say that I like Gila, because he isn't selfish. Look at Pippo for instance he always tries to go for the goal wether if it's impossible to put it in or not, he always goes for it, and that's why he sometimes frustrates me, because even if he sees someone in a better position he doesn't pass

If I was Oliveira, I did not accept the #7. I'll go for #24 or #33. That's just because I think all this talk about "he's the new Sheva", "he's not yet the new Sheva"... it's ridiculous. Please, he's ANOTHER PLAYER. Not Shevchenko...

And good to see Altafini likes him. Oli needs to score more to gain more confidence. Needs 90min over 90min. (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

I don't blame Pippo ... he does what he's paid for!!!! On the other hand I blame Gila for if he had scored from that Serginho cross in the game against Fener he would probably had his badluck blown away and a hundred mouths shut up!!!! and to think that he didn't so that a guy not at all worth it, in the end of a day, would complete a hat-trick ... Well I guess Pippo is a bit more selfish than other strikers, but thats just his style. If he's near the goal and has the ball, only sees the goal and oppsosing player, nothing else! And that's what him such a great striker!

Man, Pippo is a miracle. I kind off disliked him some years ago, but when he changed to Milan I said to myself give him a second chance. As soon as a saw Sheva and Pippo together playing I knew he deserved it...and now, he is one of my fav players. Cause he is like a class of it`s own, you have allways that Milan factor and that Pippo factor...

Gila, well,...I wanna give him also some time. I`d never liked those young bast@rds who earn millions and millions and are top stars with 22. Especially strikers. I like to see them rise slow but stable. Thats what I expect from Gila. First season was fair; second season goals would be to make more assists, score some CL goals as well and also decide a big match game (Roma, Inter,...)

Oliveira? I`d really like to forget that Ukrainian...and to see the 7 on Oliveira and on the score board is one good way to manage that.. (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/devil.gif)

Talking about Gila's CL bad luck, I always recall his miss against Barca in the first game. We needed Pippo so much in that game

I seriously can't wait to see this guy play along Kaka again! The chemistry between the two players is so great! I wanna see both of them play 90 minute and tear defenses apart through the whole season! Forza Milan! (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/devil.gif)

Well, I guess he has the best chance to score against AEK. Seriously, if he doesn't manage to score in the CL until December, then I'd be really disappointed by him.

That's a good compliment to Oli, and I hope that'll boost his performance and also stand on his own foot without thinking he's being the new 5hev@.Gila will find the net, he surely will. Oh, one more,dst...you dream oli win the scudetto (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif) ...and I had a dream playing as a defender for Milan.
