BELGRADE, Aug 21 (Reuters) - AC Milan will not sit back on a 1-0 lead against Red Star Belgrade in their Champions League third qualifying round second leg on Tuesday, coach Carlo Ancelotti said.

'We will attack to defend our advantage from the first leg and try to put them away by scoring first,' he told reporters in the Serbian capital on Monday.

'That is how we always play and we won't change our strategy against Red Star. They are a talented side but we are far more experienced.'

The second-place finish in last season's Serie A guaranteed Milan automatic qualification in the Champions League group stage but they dropped to third after having points deducted for their involvement in a match-fixing scandal.

As a result, the six-times European champions had to enter the third qualifying round and Ancelotti believes they will overcome a hostile reception and a motivated home side.

'We didn't expect to play in the qualifying stages and didn't have enough time to prepare but we are ready,' he said.

'I've been to this stadium before and I am well aware what we can expect tomorrow but Milan has always been a strong European club and we are confident.'

Ancelotti was part of the side that beat Red Star on penalties in the 1988-89 European Cup and went on to win the competition.

'That was the beginning of a great era,' he said.

Milan's defence will be depleted with Paolo Maldini, Alessandro Nesta and Kakha Kaladze out injured but Brazilian midfielder Kaka believes they still have too much for the Serbian champions.

'Red Star showed in the first leg they are a good side but we also saw obvious chinks in their armour that we will exploit again,' he said

Ancelotti is my favorite manager ever! It was a great experience to meet him in person. And about tomorrow's match, I'm confident he will have a good startegy to overcome Red Star.

I like Ancelotti too, him and Rijkaard are to of the best in the buisness right now, which isn't all that strange since both where guided by Sacchi himself

He always seems to say the right things. Sure, some of his decisions have been strange in recent years, but I think we're very lucky to have him.

Small teams are quite different than BIG teams ... As much as I think he is a very talented manager and is a great thinker of the game; I doubt he will be able to guide teams like Milan or Real Madrid ..

Maybe I could be proven wrong, but till then that is what I think of him

I'm sure he can succeed with every team. After all he won CL with PSV. The major diference is pressure As for big teams he managed Holland and did well

To compare between them now it's unfair cuz Capello has been a coach much longer time.

He wasn't actually! (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/ohmy.gif) It was before the match between Milan and Chicago Fire in Milan's U.S tour last year. I also said hi to Nesta and Ambrosini from close range! And they said hi back!!! (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) It was a wonderful experience I tell you! I couldn't exactly talk to Ancelotti, but I went as far as saying good luck with the game and he thanked us(me and my friend).

He is a great manager, but since when did Holland win recently ? (no disrespect), but they have always had the perfect team, but are somehow unlucky ..

Guus Hiddink is one of my favourite managers, the biggest impression I got from him was when we meet w/ PSV last season and the season b4 .. He really impressed me with the way his team played and all he had was JS Park and I dont know who else (not including of course Van Bommel) ..

But for him to take a team like Real Madrid or AC Milan, I don't know he just doesn't work well with BIG name players and I would like to be proven wrong, (dont get me wrong on this issue), but I still I feel he wont be able to deliver as he would with teams like PSV Lyon Liverpool ..

Back to topic:

As much as we dissed him .. ever since Istanbul .. I think that after all this calciopoli scandal came out .. He was really trying hard to beat Juve, and he came close in the last two seasons .. I think another season with him wont hurt, third times a charm .. (although he's been here longer)

I'm not a Holland fan but even though they didn't win anything since 1998 ,they are a big a team with a big players and he took them to the semi finals where they lost only on penalties to Brazil.

Maybe the fact that he is very outspoken harmed him a bit but he didn't get enough opportunities to coach big teams either

Holland has one of the best players and it's been like this throughout history, but recently they are unlucky .. I don't think it has anything to do with a good manager

What he did was take SKorea to the semi finals .. PSV to consecutive championships .. Those are the teams he delt w/ .. He still hasn't proven what he can deliver to the BIG teams ..

BTW, why r u so defencive on this issue ?
