I honestly can't believe what I'm reading. Why so bitter? The young guy gets injured, and all we get is a list of "sorry we didn't sell him" and "now he's worthless" one-liners. Can't believe my eyes. Guys this is still Milan, sometimes I honestly don't get why you're Milan fans when there are clubs out there who'd perfectly incorporate this "winner" mentality?

+1.

Coming to this thread and reading some of comments makes me feel like I'm listening to a broken record. I mean, yeah OK, it's understandable some don't rate him anymore and want him to get sold, but how many freakin' times does one repeat something?

It only takes a single thing to set him off, Mancini seems to know how to handle him and his antics.

Or maybe he has matured as a person. He made lots of stupid mistakes when he was really young. People tend to mature as they age.

While I don't wish Pato any ill will and I love his potential but there is most definitely a good argument for at least discussing his potential sale. Seriously, how many injuries does he have to get and how much time does he have to miss before people admit this? Blindly deeming him untouchable is plain fanboyism.

It's not so much about fanboyism as legacy. One of the hallmarks of truly big clubs is the "homegrown" (also superstar bought at young age) talisman. Barcelona has many. Bayern and Manure have Rooney and Schweinsteiger. Who do we have for the next generation?
Nesta is the last true active champion we have. I'm pretty sure if we sold Pato and got say Neymar none of us would complain. But this for club hasn't rebooted with any genuine superstars from this present era. Pato is the closest we have. Ibra is great but how much longer does he have? I remember how sharply my then favourite player Batigol declined from 31 to 32 and the same happens to others all the time.

That's what I'm talking about!!! just because both are fruits (players) doesn't mean you can compare them.

That's true but Silva came to Milan as a man. so he isn't really homegrown. He came as a great young-ish (24 isn't young again apparently) player and reached his peak with us. He's more a Milan's $heva than a Barcelona's Messi/Xavi/Iniesta ....ok I'll shut up now (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

Of course they can be compared, just not their full profile, but certainly a fair amount of their characteristics can be.

For instance, I can compare an apple & an orange on their list of nutrients and how beneficial they are to good health.

In this case case the fruits would again be the said players, while the 'good health' or 'body' will be the our club.

It all depends on what nutrients the body needs at the time given their intake from other sources at their disposal.

^^*sigh* I cannot believe we are actually gonna have a discussion and debate on the appropriateness of a 'figure of speech'. What a mad bunch we are! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

I disagree. Sheva was already doing incredible and leading his team in the CL. Thiago was good but not nearly the nest defender in the world candidate he is now.

Is how, now?! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif) UEFA doesn't seem to share this view. They way they overlooked him is criminal.

(IMG:style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif) OK fair enough, Trini. this is too hilarious for me to ruin it by continuing to argue (no offense at all intended).

(I tell you, the backspace key is so underrated! I typed a lot in response to the whole Pato argument but I thought what's the point? we've been repeating ourselves too much over this issue)

I don't really share the 'is much better than him' part. Clearly you are hating on him, very biased on this. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/thumbup.gif)

what do you mean biased? its a fact! pato is much better than him...balotelli has never managed to score more than 8 or 9 goals in a season...all this talk of him being better is nonsense!
I mean seriously, fine pato hasn't been in good form this season but give the kid a break! i remember sheva once had a bad season with injuries and finished the season with only 5 league goals i wonder what this forum would of said if it was open then (IMG:style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif) , just give the kid a break!

Nor is Pato. I know you disagree with that. And I thought you either forgot about Thiago Silva for a minute, since you didn't mention him, and I thought he should have been mentioned in your reply.
