QUOTE (X-Offender @ Aug 25 2011, 09:12 PM) So, initially you question his long pass ability, then you admit that his long passes are good? Please... You deem Pirlo as worthless, as a piece of junk, as a burden to this team, but to me he was one of the best midfielders of the last decade. He started losing his touch after we won our last Champions League, but it's not like our team as a whole was doing any better. Even Kaka' was not the same before we sold him. Personally, I think cutting Pirlo loose was a step forward to adopting a new way of playing where we wouldn't be dependent on him like we've been in the past. But I could never, and I mean never forget the emotions that man has given to me as a Milan fan for all those years. When Pirlo hit his peak (2002-2007), the guy was a monster, a true maestro of football. I dare you imply otherwise! + Infinity (IMG: style_emoticons/default/wink.gif)

QUOTE (X-Offender @ Aug 25 2011, 09:12 PM) So, initially you question his long pass ability, then you admit that his long passes are good? Please... Note I said: QUOTE How could he be a long ball expert after being utterly useless at them for LARGE parts of his career. i.e. I've seen MANY MANY games where the VAST majority of Pirlo's long balls go to no one in particular. The free kicks dropped off worse too. I'm not saying that he wasn't excellent at them ONCE. Neither would I be so silly as to suggest that he is a bad passer now. But the term maestro implies a master at something. Maestro's get old but their ability doesn't suddenly disappear as post '07 Pirlo's free kick ability. For instance, strikers like Ronaldo and Inzaghi could weigh a ton or be a zillion years old but would still retain their exceptional finishing and striker instincts. They were true MASTERS of their trade. Zidane is still a pretty good dribbler and can still confuse any marker...just how I see it. Pirlo was simply a technically gifted midfielder with above-average vision and was in good passing/free kick form for QUOTE ( @ Aug 25 2011, 09:12 PM) You deem Pirlo as worthless, as a piece of junk, as a burden to this team, but to me he was one of the best midfielders of the last decade. I will agree to disagree about him being a "maestro" for my viewpoint outlined above. When I think of Maestros in midfield I think about Riquelme, ZZ, Ronaldinho, Kaká, Fabregas, Xavi, Iniesta Seedorf, Valderrama, Hagi etc. Granted not all are exactly the same type of player (regista I think it's called in Italian) but they all had the same basic duty to supply the attack with opportunities. Granted a pure CM has more defensive work, which let's face it, Pirlo was never good at. It's no coincidence that with Gattuso out injured (Leo era), Pirlo looked utterly useless in Milan. It's no coinciednce tha Allegri has tossed such a ridiculously over specialized player from our team, preferring s player who can help on many fronts.

More news on our favourite deep LYING "playmaker" (IMG: http://www.milanfan.com/forums/style_images/bullet/folder_post_icons/icon8.gif) QUOTE Pirlo: 'Italy like Ancelotti's Milan' Andrea Pirlo believes Italy’s style is closer to Carlo Ancelotti’s Milan than Barcelona. “We can entertain fans with quality.”
Cesare Prandelli had said he was trying to adopt Barcelona’s approach with a 4-3-1-2 system and rapid passing, which proved effective when beating world and European champions Spain 2-1 in a recent friendly.
“We are a good side who try to play the ball at all times. Our quality, especially in midfield, allows us to entertain the fans with a fast-paced and attacking style,” said Pirlo.
“Barcelona are the ultimate right now, as they are unbeatable and wonderful to watch. In my view, though, our characteristics are closer to Ancelotti’s Milan than the Spaniards.
“I feel in good shape now too and am happy to be a part of this new project.”
Italy continue their Euro 2012 qualifying campaign against the Faroe Islands on Friday, then welcome Slovenia.
Pirlo has now left Milan to start again at Juventus, but is reunited with old Rossoneri teammate Antonio Cassano in the Italy squad.
“Antonio is so eager to play football and have fun, so I can see he’s in a good place. His behaviour has improved and paternity gave him a more relaxed approach. He’s getting better all the time.
“As for Juventus, our objectives are to win something and qualify for the Champions League,” continued Pirlo.
“Milan and Inter still have something more than the rest of the pack, but we’ll try to make up for that gap on the field.
“I was no longer motivated at Milan, as for months I felt the urge to try a new experience. Juventus are taking a step in the right direction to improve Serie A, starting from their wonderful new club-owned stadium.” straight from the HORSE'S mouth

(IMG: style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif) Like I said earlier you can toss whatever you want at me...even ban me as at R&B for my unpopular opinion...but no one can deny that Pirlo isn't the Milan legend or one of those that can claim he gave his all. I havent' disrespected you or anyone but this guy NEVER deserved to be at Milan. A player with his talents and abilities should not have ever been allowed to give back so little to our illustrious club i'm not surprised that you don't hear what I'm saying. Most Pirlo fans won't care anyway. I just feel a bit vindicated now that he himself confirmed it. If he truly loved us or was motivated he'd have taken the one year contract as Dorf did and FIGHT for his place. But Pirlo thinks himself above that just as he thinks he is above tracking back when he lost the ball or letting practically any marker just walk past. I am also upset by the hypocrisy of some fans who claimed to have hated Ronaldinho for these same reasons but then gave Pirlo a free pass. Again it's just imho and as an admin it's your choice and authority to do with me as you see fit. The internet is, after all not as free as it seems (IMG: style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

You completely lost me there and I stopped reading at that point. You'll only be sanctioned if you instigate any more unecassary fights as you've done in the past regarding Pirlo. We encourage different oppinions and discussions but not blatant flaming, which is what you're doing with this Pirlo thing.

QUOTE (drucurl @ Aug 31 2011, 02:01 PM) Rather disingenuous to mis-quote me. I certainly didn't say he never gave his all for Milan in that post. But then again you are looking for the slightest of flaws to discredit me so it's understandable.
Certainly he must have at some point during 2002-2007 to play as well as he did. I am merely expressing disgust at his languid approach to the game which worsened as his physical attributes declined with age. I can't see how fight can be insitigated over a direct quote either. But people will always believe what they want no matter how visible the truth in front of them is
I'm not instigating anything. I stated my opinion and i referenced it with a direct quote. What happens next is your choice You're disgusted due to his personal style of football? What excuse is that? Also, we've had many disagreements in regards to Pirlo, mainly with chu, yet never was he ever told to watch what he's doing or saying, simply because he doesn't cross the line and keeps it to only the football side of it and doesn't presonally provoke anyone either. If the mods ban everyone they disagree with then the forum would be deserted, and no one ever told you that you'd get banned for not thinking Pirlo was worth it anymore. I don't know what they do at the R&B forum but that is certainly not what is done here. So please don't try to turn this into a mod vs dru thing
