My logic goes like this:

We have a very good player that can also be a top class player. What we should get for such a player is either another player of the same caliber or the right amount of money. Nothing less.

And so far, all combinations I've read don't go in that direction.

Agreed. Couldn't have said it better.

But I love how we bid the same as Barca and wenger says no to barca and yes to us (IMG:style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif)

Raiola did good; not easy to convince a club to sell their captain.

Now we'll have to see if Fabregas is willing to come, Raiola will probably do this part too if he hasn't already.

If that Facebook post by his sister was legit, we would most certainly be an option being considered by him.

Yeah but this is the problem.

When Barca put in their final offer of 35m last week, fabregas put in 3m of his own funds to bring it to 38m but wenger said no.

So its clear he wants barca, so if he does come here its temporary. He wants barca and could use us as a way of getting there easier.

But I don't mind to be honest,I hope he does come. We really need someone of his calibre to boost our chances in the CL this season

I'm still not sold that Barcelona would be willing to buy Sanchez for what they did, and then go and ask Fabregas to pay a measly sum (in comparison) out of his own pocket in order to complete the transfer. It seems impossible to me a team like Barca couldn't scrounge together 3 million.

Heres my guess at what happened.

I"ll give you a quick synopsis.

Last year when Fabregas pushed for a transfer barca and arsenal talked and their was a mutual agreement of around 35m for fabregas for this summer. This wasn't written on paper just a verbal agreement.

Now this year barca bid 35m. But because of the crap barca kept pulling all year wenger pretty much refuses to sell them fabregas unless they bid something like 50m.

And barca don't want to go over their previously agreed price because they are tired of playing games. So my guess is that fabregas probably heard that wenger accepted raiola's offer of 38m and put in his own 3m to match it.

this is all a guess but something probably along these lines happened.

At the end of the day imo, we gotta look at the issue of pride which is the biggest thing here. Its not about the money, Arsenal dislike barca because of all the disrespect they have been shown all year by xavi, iniesta and etc etc so they'd rather sell him to us for cheaper just so he can't go home and barca are tired of dealing with the situation so they put an ultimatum on 35m.

Yes, but the issue of pride works the other way around as well. If Fabregas thinks he can use Milan as an easier way to get to Barça, then he can go f*ck himself! I would never sell him to them if he pulled such crap and I was Galliani. I'd rather sell him to Inter.

Yeah thats a fair point. The question is, do we really want to transfer someone who has his heart set on eventually going to barca? Especially at these figures.

I personally don't mind, If fabregas can help us win champions league then bring him over (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

News update on Fabregas:

Insiders have leaked some info regarding Mino Raiola's latest work on fabregas.

Heres how the deal works so far:

Raiola has managed to negotiate a fee of 38m payable over 3 years. approx. 13m/yr

Its expected that we'll go in there with players like Emanuelson and possibly flamini to try and reduce the price.

But 38m cash and we can have him is what Wenger has agreed to.

Key word there is CAN. I don't see from him the motivation necessary to consistently be a top class player. If he won't improve his fitness then he essentially becomes just a designated super sub. In Montolivo we would be getting a good player with the potential to become a very good player. That is good enough for me especially with the state of our midfield. I think we would come out on the other side a better team and that's all I need to know.

I love the updates Blue. Thanks for keeping us informed. Excellent excellent news if it pans out. We will have the world class midfield to go with the world class defense and attack.

News:

-Sneijder has declared that inter will sell him at the right price. 35-40m.

-Eto and Tevez are linked with a potential swap. Chances of happening 80%

-Juve have almost completed the deal for Vargas.

-Ibra has declared that he will win everything with Milan (CL) and then leave.

-More and more news sources are now declaring that Kaka and Montolivo will arrive.

-Cassano did not comment on whether or not he will leave to another Italian side but has said that he has no intention of leaving Italy.

-Barca set to increase the incentives for Fabregas. The deal originally was: 29m cash plus 6m incentives + 3m fabregas' own funds. They are set to increase the incentives to 9m bringing the total transfer to the 41m mark.

So, beside that, the Drogba-Milan link popped out again (sportmediaset).
