I remember very specifically he persisted with Ronald Wattereus in goal over the infinitely superior Stefan Klos despite all the errors he was making. Yeah, we did win the league in the end, but it was his ability to be obtuse it was in spite of, not because of.
We had that here with MON too. Sorensen was our best keeper, but he kept playing Carson. Luke Young was the best right back, but he refused to play him because he didn't want to drop any of Cuellar/Dunne/Collins.
So long as he at least tries to play decent football and doesn't just sign big long ball players!
