I actually rate GPG quite highly and think this won't bode well for our Genoa relationship if INTER have their Genoa contact as well...

Yeah..so replacing Pirlo with Ganso doesn't solve the Block-Pirlo-Block-Milan problem.

Are you sure? I think Pirlo is way easier to block than Ganso. I mean, Pirlo is REALLY easy to block. Ganso not as easy. And I can't remember we had that problem with Seedorf. No, it's Pirlo. Pirlo was the problem when facing smart/tough opponents.

Yea because Pirlo was horrible. He pretty much begged players to block him (IMG:style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif)

He didn't have to beg for it. Opponents coaches put a man on him, et voilà, Pirlo is useless, and Milan lose. We especially saw that happening in the Champions League over the years, for example JS Park blocking Pirlo completely the whole game, and many more other examples. Pirlo doesn't beg for it, but he doesn't seem to mind either. Can't remember him doing something about it. Or maybe he just can't.

Don't compare Pirlo with Ganso, they are completely different type of players. Pirlo is a CM/deep-lying playmaker and Ganso is a pure AM. The brazilian has by far a better tehnique and more speed.

Not completely different. Both are playmakers. Both are midfielders. Both aren't the best in defending.

And what can Pirlo do better? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/innocent.gif)

Wow, now I know that I'm stupid when I see Sacchi and some others as a great football experts. Why listening to him, when we have some great experts here ?! Guys you really proved that you are experts especially when talking about Pirlo.

Ganso and Pirlo are two different types of players. You can't exactly compare them. Ganso is an AM who plays like a mixture between requelme and zidane. Good pass, good dribbling, decent shot, decent pace. Pirlo is a deep lying play maker. He simply sets the tempo of the game by his various passes. Ganso won't do that and can't do that.

That will be fabregas' job.

---

But in terms of talent, Ganso has far superior potential than pirlo did when he was younger. Ganso has what Pirlo doesnt, the ability to beat players and do a solo effort. Ganso can be a ballon d'or winner if fulfills his potential. Pirlo was never that calibre.

But right now thats far far away. Ganso isn't even 1/3 of what Pirlo is now but he'll develop into a monster in a few years.

Haha... that's rich.
I think Pirlo is better then Ganso, Pirlo has won many awards, and what has Ganso done? Sure he may turn out to be better then Pirlo ever was, but I'd like to see him do it first.

I don't think anyone is discussing who has been the most succesful, and Pirlo is (currently) history speaken the best of the two. Ganso is 21 years old. Pirlo is like 10 years older. When it comes to the present, I prefer Ganso over Pirlo easily.

exactly. +1

There is no way that Ganso is better than Pirlo now. Thats just ludicrous.

If he was that good, we wouldn't be after hamsik/fabregas.

What happened to your: 'Ganso and Pirlo are two different types of players. You can't exactly compare them.'

Or maybe we need a new central midfielder and/or playmaker and we're just trying to get the best deal (or a deal at all) of several good options/players.

I like your logic. It's as simple as 1+1.

QUOTE

When you put it that way, sounds like it's as simple as one, two, three.

And also, do you think it's Pirlo's job to come up with a solution to this tactical problem? You think that Pirlo was the problem? And not maybe the fact that when we had Kaka and Seedorf in peak we'd easily come over that problem, and it happened to occur more often towards the end, when Kaka was gone and Seedorf declined? No? It's only Pirlo's fault.

QUOTE

Okay, let me ask you one simple question then - how many times did you watch Ganso play to be so easy with the answer who's better now?

Cescs job? You said he won't be coming, or at least Galliani said there are zero chances for that. Now, I know this board almost pathologically distrusts Galliani, but I'm keen to believe what the man said now.
