I think the new policy is the best thing we have done in years. Relying on oldies like Seedorf, Ambrosini and Inzaghi for more than a year would be suicide. Jack's post way aggrandizes things. I really see no problem in it. I saw an interview of Galliani yesterday on the matter. He said the sole purpose of such policy is to verify the conditions of overaged players year by year, because their physical conditions are not the same of 10 years ago, and they're usually more prone to injuries. Given the current economics conditions, we can't afford to give for instance to a player like Ambrosini more than two years, when he might very well miss half of them due to some injury, and thus waste money on his contract. It's very simple and convenient, and I fully concord with it.

QUOTE (Zed.D @ May 24 2011, 01:27 PM) That sounds Irish.
No he has not. (IMG: style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) Well the new guy will have to come in, and instantly be great for us. Our season will hinge on that fact. it really cannot be denied no matter which way you look at it

If he's Pirlo's replacement, and our season failed to hinge on Pirlo, I don't see how the new guy will have that pressure. He'll have to be good, yes, but to say he will take the brunt of the weight over Pato, Ibra, Silva or even possibly Seedorf if he stays is just trying to prove your Pirlo stance in an indirect and incorrect way.

Look at all the changes that happened though during the season, first half was a completely half @ssed attempt that we only made it through due to miracle Ibra goals. Our entire system hinged on Ibra pulling it out of his @ss. While the second half of the season was more on how many clan sheets the defens could keep and how many 1-0 score lines we could rack up But the new guy will have a lot of pressure on him. Seedorf won't play like he played last month, just forget it. So we'll have no one else who is creative... When we don't have a creative spark in midfield we always rely on Ibra, if Ibra is not in top shape then we struggle, we've seen it happen this season, guys like Robs and Pato cannot depend on long balls punted from Nesta and Silva. That's why keeping Pirlo would have been a far more logical safety net. I'm hoping whoever is brought in will be up to the task, because if not we'll be in sh!t come next season

QUOTE (X-Offender @ May 24 2011, 05:57 PM) Boateng is ours, along with Amelia, Zigoni, Strasser, Oduamadi and Paloschi. Sokratis and Berretta to Genoa. LinkWhy didn't we stick them with Odu and keep Berretta?? The Italian is definately the better player... But I guess Genoa aren't that stupid... (IMG: style_emoticons/default/dry.gif) Glad to see Palo back and that we're keeping Amelia and Strasser

It's very simple and convenient, and I fully concord with it. I think the new policy is a good idea taken too far. You are completely right when you say that we can't rely on people like Seedorf and Ambro. The problem is that the age of 30 is totally arbitrary. Players age differently and any good management would take that into account rather than using blanket policy. To suggest that pippo at 37 or 38 is the same situation as a 30 year old is insane. Take for example keepers often peak in their late 20s and are capable of playing at a very high level til their late 30s. You going to make your keeper renew every single year? That is completely unfair to the player. Defensive players also can play at a very high level into their mid 30s. For example take Thiago Silva. He will turn 27 in September. Right now he is arguably the best CB in the world and if not then is definitely in an elite group. It is certainly concievable that he could play at a world class level til he is 35. So what happens when he is 32 when his contract expires? He's now forced to only get 1 year deals even if he is still world class? Having a blanket policy is stupid and lazy. They could have easily talked to the players in private that all they were willing to offer were one year deals but to make 30 the "official" cut off age is bad policy.

I'm just thinking with logic and not emotion, he's not a valuable player anymore. I think the one year extension was just and if he really loved Milan so much he would've taken it. You argue that its about stability, well whats more stable than staying in the SAME place doing the SAME thing? If he plays as well as you seem to think he's capable of, then he would have no problem earning his starting spot and another renewal. Fact is, he wasn't confident in that. Thats why he wanted 3 years and thats why he left. Our management knows what they are doing. Its the same management thats won us a huge stinking amount of titles since they've been here, I trust them. Enjoy and be happy with what this incredible athlete gave Milan and give up this facade that he's anywhere near the level he used to be.
