Well, I don't think Allegri wants to switch from the midfield formula of the last couple of months i.e. strong anchor in front of the defense, creative mid on the left, a proper DM on the right and Boateng as trequartista. Considering Pirlo will be leaving, Ganso should get his place and the starter spot on the left. With Van Bommel and Ambrosini doing the anchor role and Boateng the trequartista, our weakest link is the right-hand side. Gattuso and Flamini aren't exactly starter material, know what I mean?

...assuming Ganso will come in Summer which is far away from the truth of today, and I know what you mean

Isn't this a bit too hasty? I mean... I cannot imagine he already discussed with Milan... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/unsure.gif) I will wait until it's official.

Yeah, can't believe how Pirlo is being treated here (IMG:style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif) Like he's another Brocchi we need to get rid of! Ridiculous! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif)

I agree. Although I think that Pirlo is on decline and this move might be good for both the club and the player - he deserves a more respectful treatment after 10 years in red and black and many wonderful memories.

Pirlo leaving is one of the saddest moments for me in football. We had the same when Boban left, but the difference was Rui was already signed.

Nowdays we have one to many "if's" - if Ganso comes and if he deserves the left flank.

To be honest, since he chose to join Juventus out of all clubs, he doesn't deserve a more respectful treatment.

While I am glad Pirlo is leaving, to be fair, Juventus was probably his only choice. Otherwise he'd be playing for a small team in Italy making the same or less money than if he had taken Milan's pay cut. I doubt any big team in Europe would've taken him, and the only other options would be a Dubai/Man City/Rich Russians type of team, which I am sure no one here wants for him.

Juventus was his best choice. And that's okay with me, because I am delighted with this transfer. I don't have much love left for Pirlo though. Happy the jinx leaves us.

How come? What's your reason? I don't rate him that much as a player anymore, but he will always remain one of my favorite players and one of the best midfielders of the last decade. You should feel the same.

CHU-LIP, it doesn't matter if it's Juve (who's no threat to us at the moment) or some other club from abroad. Pirlo gave us his best years, his prime in which he was one of the best midfielders in the world and our team won many trophies with him. Now there is a situation in which both he and Milan chose to move on and that's fine. His place in Milan history is unchallengeable, he'll be identified with Milan after retirement and we should thank him for all he has done for our club.

It is sad .. Pirlo has been with us a while now and endured a lot of games under his belt for us .. To an extent that our midfield looses a lot when he isn't playing. He is a player that gives any team he plays for a leap in quality.

Obstacles he faced were two; Allegri finds him excess to requirements and Milan wont be able to match the Juve contract. So he had no choice I guess .. However, I am not very moved as I knew Milan's focus is on youth and the fact that this club is classy .. It allowed its senior players players to move at will, players who had served the club well. Pirlo is the first to leave he will be followed by others as well, Ringo will probably move ... Seedorf seems to be set for Brazil as well, but I'd very much like him to finish off and hang up his boots here.

Me too. It's a bit sour to me, because I don't consider Pirlo finished like some of you here. So from all our senators, Pirlo was the one who could give the most for the future 1-2 seasons. Nesta most probably will retire, while Rino and Ambro evidently deteriorated. Seedorf is a must keep for me too.

I'm totally okay with Pirlo picking Juventus. It's probably that he wanted to become one of the few legends who played for the big three. Also, Juve nowadays is hardly a Milan rival, not in a sense where fans would be upset. His move to Inter would cause reactions, but to a team like Juve - now 2 seasons in a row below 4th place - it is a ordinary move. It's not that he had many offers (at least that's what I've read) and I don't think he's Brescia class already.

For all of you who think Pirlo's departure is a blessing or he is finished, remember Real Madrid, heck remember Inter. He was a key component in those matches. Don't let this injury plagued Allegri season cloud your mind. Pirlo is still world class.

And who'll be Milans captain next season? Milan now needs someone fresh, who could be captain for a while, just like Paolo or Franco before.
