QUOTE (han2503 @ Mar 19 2011, 10:05 PM) It's not the players' faults, Flamini, Gattuso and VB do their job, which is recovering balls, aside from that they cannot produce any game changing plays, and it's ridiculous to expect them to. They cannot bring in the attack into the game, Allegri relies on Ibra for that with the long ball. Once Ibra was out, and he sill insisted with that ridiculous midfield setup this was bound to happen. Again, he should have at least played Boateng or Urby, if not both, a coach who wants to win would do that, Allegri was just hoping to win. Even when subs were made it was no different. We have to sort out concentration on marking too, 2 straight games we've conceeded from a set peice.

We have to sort out concentration on marking too, 2 straight games we've conceeded from a set peice. The sub were incorrect as well imo, Gattuso should have been taken out, not VB, I don't care about the yellow, but Gattuso was a huge problem trying to create attacing play, Seedorf should have been left to play behind the strikers while Boateng should have been given free reign from central midfield. Boateng essentially was brought in for nothing, he was ineffective drowned out in that wall of pink. Robinho should have come on earlier, he was the one that made the biggest difference, and a pro-active coach would have brought him on in the first half imo, when it was clear as day that Pato and Cassano were never going to get anywhere near a scoring chance. His runs would have made space for them. Had Allegri at least played a Seedorf, Boateng, VB midfield with, Robs, Cassano and Pato in front of them, we could have at least say that we tried and imo would have faired a lot better. The damage control attitide he takes from the start is just disgustng to see. His entire system revolves around trying to avoid conceeding and HOPING to score.

QUOTE (X-Offender @ Mar 19 2011, 09:38 PM) Well, let's see if Allegri will say "5 points are a lot" in his next press conference. (IMG: style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif) QUOTE Allegri: 'We're still on top'
Massimiliano Allegri is keeping calm after Milan’s surprise loss in Sicily. “We’re still top of the table. A defeat can happen.”
The Rossoneri fell 1-0 to Palermo this evening, their first away defeat since the trip to Cesena in Week 2.
“Going down early on was not helpful and we didn’t play well in the first half, especially the final third,” said Allegri.
“It was better after the break, although considering all our possession, we didn’t have enough shots on target.
“Although it was better to avoid it, a defeat can happen. Fortunately we are going into the break for international duty now and have time to get our ideas in order. In any case, we are still top of the table, then we’ll see what Inter and Napoli do tomorrow.”
If Inter beat Lecce at San Siro, they’ll move to within two points of Milan with the derby coming up in a fortnight.
Zlatan Ibrahimovic will be suspended for that clash, as today he began his three-match ban.
“There’s no point talking about how important Ibra is for us, but tonight we should’ve done more. We have to analyse what didn’t work.
“Alexandre Pato and Antonio Cassano were playing as a pair for the first time, so it’s natural it’d take a while to settle. I had to look at the full 90 minutes, as Robinho is tired and Kevin-Prince Boateng cannot play a full game at the moment.
“I remain convinced Milan are the favourites for the Scudetto, so even if things go badly, we’ll still be two points in front.” Football Italia

QUOTE (han2503 @ Mar 20 2011, 02:05 AM) Blame the team? What do you expect a midfield of Gattuso, Flamini, Van Bommel and Seedorf to do exactly?????? Turn into Xavi, Iniesta and Messi??? FFS, they have limits, they're just destroyers, you play all of them what do you expect to get, beutiful football. Allegri is at fault for putting out that team, everyone expected the same sh!tty performances we saw in the last few games, and guess what? He delivered on that!!! He had other option on the bench, Robinho should have started, his running would have cleared space for Pato and Cassano to at least move more then a foot with the ball before it was taken away, Boateng should have started in midfield, if he wasn't fit enough then Urby should have been given the chance, he at least would have added some dimension into that flat uncreative midfield!! Blamin the players is low, and imo another attempt to excuse Allegri's blatant mistakes. Ibra might have been cr@p lately but he still hid most of his short comings, he at least managed to bring in the others by holding up the long ball, today we saw Allegri's tactics for what they really are. Again you're blaming the players, but please enlighten me, what did you expect Gattuso and Flamini to do? Score 30 yard goals, send Pato or Cassano through wih a magnificent through ball? Bring in our FBs with their amazing ability to spread play? (IMG: style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif) It's a ridiculous accusation, Allegri is reaping what he's sown imo, if you put in stale lemon in the juicer you can't expect to get some Hawiian tropic juice in return, you end up with stale leom juice. It's basic tactics 101. What big clubs do you see playing with 3 F'ing distructive midfielders??? It's not the players' faults, Flamini, Gattuso and VB do their job, which is recovering balls, aside from that they cannot produce any game changing plays, and it's ridiculous to expect them to. I'm not saying just blame just the players i'm saying everyone has blame but yes Allegri more then the players of course for putting that line up out in the first place. All thats really missing right now is transitional play in mid field we all can see that we defo need to buy a deep lying mid this summer or we are fucked again. Pirlo is missed. I hope he is available for the derby. Judging by reports, I think he should be available. Maybe not a starter but definitely someone who can play a 20 minute cameo. I have to say Seedorf as the deep playmaker was not bad. His days as the CAM are up though. For the derby, start Seedorf in deep-laying role and then sub for Pirlo. Antonini is just horrible. He gave away possession, missed passes and threw himself at attackers. Sad to see Janku hobbling away. He was actually having a decent run on the left flank. I dont mind seeing 3 DMs bur Urby at left-back would have been a better option than bringing in Luca. Allegri over the last few weeks seems to lack the inspiration of the coach of a big-league European team. He is conservative in his tactics and I think after Leo that was required. But he sorely lacks in the creativity department. The fact that our bench is so bad doesnt help too. But yes, I would loose one of the DMs for Prince any day. Hopefully Inter draws tonight or loses (IMG: style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif) Match Analysis From Football Italia Website.http://www.football-italia.net/bigmatch/pal1mil0.htmlMatch Analysis: Palermo 1-0 Milan Palermo’s tactics invited heavy Milan pressure on their defence, but they are showing signs of improvement under Serse Cosmi, reflected in a great result Milan arrived in Sicily with a makeshift strike-force to test Palermo’s troubled back-line. Massimiliano Allegri fielded Clarence Seedorf up front in suspended Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s absence, whilst Serse Cosmi continued with his 5-3-2 shape. The most worrying aspect to Cosmi’s so far troubled tactical switch in Sicily has come from pushing Giulio Migliaccio into defence and breaking up the midfield trio of the No 8, Antonio Nocerino and Armin Bacinovic. Under Delio Rossi, the three showed intelligent positional sense and organisation that guaranteed excellent coverage of the pitch. Whilst Josip Ilicic has been pulled into the central three, his unfamiliarity with the defensive aspects of the deeper position, combined with having not played there before Cosmi’s arrival, has resulted in a midfield unable to exert itself in the same manner at the moment. Milan highlighted this, immediately taking command of possession and regularly moving the ball through the centre of the pitch with ease and at pace, bringing the Rosanero into open-play defensive set-ups with more regularity and for longer periods than seen under Rossi. Frustratingly however for Milan, the early domination came to nothing and, failing to make the ball stick in the final third, this was followed by the opening goal going Palermo’s way. Off the back of some neat movement at a corner, the second phase of the set-piece saw Alessandro Nesta lose Dorin Goian, who close to offside, was left with time to control and finish from six yards out. Massimiliano Allegri will be anxious to understand how his team conceded from the home side’s first attack, given the Rossoneri’s otherwise comfortable start to proceedings. Whilst Palermo’s tactics invited pressure through midfield, the defence began to show signs of benefit from the extra centre-back. In falling behind, Milan continued to hold possession but struggled to find a way through the home side’s defence. Allegri’s team pushed its full-backs higher up the pitch to add wide support, but where this tactic has previously stretched four-man defences, Palermo remained an unbroken back-line given the extra man in there, and the fact that Seedorf, Antonio Cassano and Alexandre Pato did not represent an aerial threat from any crosses that came in. It resulted in Milan persisting with working through the centre of the pitch, but with Bacinovic and Nocerino dropping deep, it saw five pink shirts face up against three Rossonero shirts in a crowded space around the D outside Palermo’s penalty area. Disconcertingly for the League leaders, Palermo’s limited forays into their half highlighted some hesitant Diavolo defending, Cosmi’s side causing more trouble in three attacks than any of Milan’s in the first half. Milan finished the half without a shot on target to show for 61 per cent possession. They then played the entire second half in a state reminiscent of the start of the season - pushing forward in numbers and opening up a vulnerability to counter-attacks - with Palermo breaking three times in the first four minutes and throughout the second 45. Milan’s best chances came when inviting Cosmi’s team forward and giving Cassano and Pato space at the other end to utilise. It was the kind of space otherwise lacking without Ibrahimovic to directly occupy one of the centre-backs. The Rosanero will no doubt take great encouragement from the improved defensive display, but with the front-line generally unsupported and ineffective, it sets the team up as a counter-attacking team, and it remains to be seen if this can develop as a step forward from Rossi’s work. For Milan, the fortnight that follows promises further debate of their dependence on Ibrahimovic.

QUOTE (d'Arc.LP @ Mar 20 2011, 10:44 AM) On the other side, if Inter draws today against Lecce and we win in derby than we'll be +7 points and Scudetto is ours. So there is still a good chance for us to win it and I hope the confidence among players is high. You see, I am not comfortable with Allegri as coach. I can't understand what he is doing tbh, he has a very strong team (regardless of injuries), whereby he has enough quality on the bench to ensure 3 points in every game. Two consecutive negative results heading into the derby is a matter for alarm. If Allegri does not manage to win in the derby, then you can kiss good bye all the positive good work that the lads have done up till now. Moreover, please keep in mind that Napoli are even more hungry than Milan & inter combined; hence you will be facing an uphill battle if they continue their surge, coupled with Milan stretching this negative period into the derby and beyond.

I don't really like Allegri, but the defeat against Palermo was NOT his fault. Robinho, Nesta, Seedorf and Gattuso are tired. Kevin Boateng just recovered from an injury and was not fit for the game. Pato-Cassano duo played together for the first time and it's understandable that they needed time to get to know each other. All I'm trying to say is that he made the right choices but that was not our night, so we don't need to stop and blame Allegri for each misake we make. When Pirlo recevers, we'll have more creativity in midfield and results will come.
