Arsenal always demolish the small teams, but when it comes to the real deal, most of the time they fail.

Braga put out Sevilla. They're anything but rubbish.

There's still a massive gap between the Bragas and the Sevillas opposed to the Barcas and the Madrids and the Munichs.

That a team is not crap doesn't mean it's awesome. To win the CL, Arsenal has to beat the big guns. Be better than the top 2-3 clubs of the big leagues.

And ever since Henry, Campbell, Pires, Bergkamp all retired, I just don't see it in this team.

They've been building since forever with little to show but Fabregas. Where are the champions like the ones I mentioned above?

Ditto. Arsenal's problem is Wenger won't let this team grow up. they're always too young to win something important. I think the same may happen to Real as well. it's very unlikely they're going to win anything important this season if you ask me.

Like it was that hard to beat that Milan team...

Roma are chokers on the big stage.

And Porto...? Really?

Arsenal have had the most sh!ttiest groups for the past 4 years running, then they get the easy last 16 KO most of the time and get a cricket scoreline. Then they face a tough opposition and get KO'd big time

Ah, of course... Milan doesn't count because after all, they only had roughly the same players who won the CL the previous season, and Roma (who had dumped out the domestic champions of France and Spain in their two previous seasons), well they don't count either. And the team who dominated the Portuguese league for 5 seasons in a row, forget about them.

@Jack, how about actually winning something again before going on about what a epic club of galactic proportions you are.
The superiority-complexes on this board are incredible, a couple of weeks ago the main game around here was mocking Roma after their draw with Cesena (nevermind what happened two weeks later), writing them off as a mini-club who has never been a serious challenge, completely disregarding the fact that Milan has done f@ck all the last three seasons.

If there has suddenly been a change of tune here which means points of view that don't sit well with the milanisti are not welcome, I'll be happy to. But as I seem to remember a forum that wasn't blindly sectarian, I'll keep on as I always have.

If that has become a problem, feel free to say so.

@ Locke

What offended you so much? I see a change of tone and that's how you responded to Jack, associating his valid point that Arsenal were a team that could compete for titles some years ago with all Milan fans being arrogant and having superiority complex. you also seem to have forgotten how much we've criticized our own club in the past 3-4 years otherwise you wouldn't have lectured us like that.

It's also a shame you talk like an outsider, I've always thought of you as someone who supports Milan (after Arsenal. and Chievo!).

Kaka and Seedorf limping the entire game... That team that Arsenal defeated that night came in 5th in the Serie A, that says a lot.

When have Roma delivered when it actually came to the big teams in the KOs? Man U, Arsenal, etc every time they get hammered.

The Portugese league is the Portugese league, playing in the CL against a top 4 side from one of the top leagues in Europe is different, the quality of opposition they face week in week out then come up against a top team who can really play football, what does that equal to? A good thumping.

I really don't get why you're talking as an outsider, just because people are not at all convinced by Arsenal playing a walkover game against a mid level Portugese team.

1. And we didn't have Toure, Van Persie wasn't fit and couldn't play, if you want to play the injury game, be my guest.

2. In the quote you were responding to I named to such teams: Lyon and Real Madrid. It could also be mentioned that Roma were the only real challengers to a Inter side that has dominated Serie A five seasons and counting, even defeating them in a couple of finals.

3. I get the point you're making about Porto, but you may recall the Porto side that more than held their own at Old Trafford and would have beaten Man U that night if not for a horrible back-pass by Bruno Alves. Porto are no pushovers in the CL, never have been either.

1. Milan was practically being dragged on by a permanently injured Kaka at that point, it's different. Arsenal still had Fabregas, Flamini, Adebayour etc all on the field.

2. Real Madrid were literally spineless during those times, and Roma usually have trouble once they reach the quarters and a really big name gets drawn next to theirs. Against Bayern Munich last night it was a choking mess all round the pitch for them, and Bayern haven't even been that great this season.

3. Sometimes a team can only punch so much above their weight.

Imo, Arsenal only truely lived up to their billing was when they made it to the final. They eliminated some top teams along the way playing some anti-Arsenal football as well to boot. Will we see that again this season? I find that really hard to believe

Then I challenge you to find me a bigger club than Real Madrid. Don't forget that this was the season when they dominated La Liga completely as well, and one of the teams that made that year's CL Final was Barcelona, who didn't stand a chance against Real in their domestic league.
