Flamini or KPB should play,or even maybe together, and then we would have a midfield to speak about.

Ambro and Rino were panting around, chasing shadows for most of the game. Pirlo was left to do the defensive work, AGAIN! He's played so well against Lecce because he was free to move up the pitch, today we had Ambro and Rino trotting up to the box while Pirlo was covering the defenders!! And you wonder why we got caught twice against the run of play! :headbang:

Allegri should have fielded Boateng instead of Gattuso. Sadly to say, Rino is only a ghost of his former self. Sokratis had a rather horrible game as well. But my vote for worst player of the game goes to Ibra. He was absolutely unwatchable.

I agree with R7, we went into this game way too relaxed and pretentious. I must condemn myself as well, I thought we would easily win tonight. I hope it proves a lesson to the team for further games.

Naah, we can talk all night long, but let's face it - pretty much everything was terrible.

Gotta give credit to Cesena they executed everything perfectly.

True. Maybe a change of shoes is in order. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/unsure.gif) He's gonna injure himself bad one of these days, if he keeps falling 2-3 times a match like this. And for the record this has been going on for a few years now, ever since he came out of his long injury layoff after the surgery in what 2008 season.

I have noticed him going fragile like this not just at club level but the NT as well. Not good.

Pirlo has been playing 90 minutes every 3 days. And he was not helped today with the way the midfield played.

Yes credit to Cesena, they played a great defesive game and hit us on the counter perfectly. But I still can't help but feel that 75% of this loss is down to our team, the mentality they went into this match with was disgraceful imo. And hopefully it serves them a lesson. Although this team has proven in the past that such lessons are not well learnt (Deportivo, Istanbul)

+1 for the man. I can't remember Carlo or Leo being so blunt and to the point in their statements.

Hate to beat a dead horse but i think the lack of midfield had a domino affect on all our other departments.

Not excusing anyone but certainly didn't help.

QUOTE
"It's difficult to find positives from this game. We hadn't started too badly, but we knew Cesena were strong on the counter"”said Allegri.

"The second goal was the real blow, as to concede like that on the counter-attack from our own set play was disappointing."

"We weren't organised enough and didn't move the ball around cleanly, wandering around the field without a specific plan in mind."

"I tried the new players who just arrived, but that's no excuse. We were simply lacking in grit. This system requires everyone to work for everyone else, it's something I've been trying to tell the team since the day I took over at Milan."

"Cesena play with real enthusiasm and if we allow them to do what they do best, we risk collapsing. That's what happened tonight. To win in Italy and in Europe, we need a different attitude" continued Allegri.

"When going behind and things become difficult, we have to work even harder. We can't always think the other guy is going to solve the problem and sort things out."

"I always say every game starts at 0-0 and there are no easy teams to beat in Italy. We saw the proof of that tonight."

"I don't think we were ahead of Inter a week ago and we're not behind them now. Of course I'm the first to be angry about this defeat, but it can do us good, as it'll show us that a game must be won on the field as a team unit."

"You can have all the stars that you want, but without that team ethic, you'll get nowhere."”
Source

Some great points on Allegri's part, great to see him coming down on the team for today. Also great to see that he's not hiding behind the excuses which we usually would have heard in the past regarding the refs and their decisions.

If he knew Cesena were strong in the counter why did he put out the slowest possible midfield and fullbacks bar antonini?hm....

Let's hope we see a change of route against Auxerre. After all, this defeat could prove positive.
