He needs to spend at some point or we just won't compete often enough.

We could still do with a #1 GK, an extra full back, a 3rd CB capable of standing in for Nesta/Silva, someone to cover for Pirlo, another wide man would do nicely as well.

silvio's anser to all of these

Storari, Abate/antonini are fine, astori, Flamini and finally Addiyiah.

god i love our frugal management

The ONLY, and I repeat ONLY way we SHOULD ever ever EVER begrudgingly agree to see alex pato leave us, is if it were to happen in either of these two circumstances:

1) Pato to Madrid for Benzema and 40 mil. (With the 40 mil: we buy milos krasic (20) , hernanes (12-15), young defender (5-8)
2) Pato to Chelsea for Drogba, Ivanovic and 35 mil. (Krasic, Hernanes)

With...

Ronnie + Krasic (he can run!) supporting either Benz or Drog (who can run!) (Borriello, Hunter), with an Hernanes (he runs/works hard!), Pirlo, Flamini/Ambro (they run, albeit sometimes with their heads cut off!) midfield (seedorf = supersub), and a backline with versatility: Abate/Zambro/Ivanovic, Thiago/Ivanovic/Yepes, Nesta/Ivanovic/Yepes, Antonini/Zambro...

We challenge for a treble...and alex pato becomes a player we like, EXCEPT when he plays milan.

However, if he is sold in any capacity OTHER than what's outlined above, Milan gets pushed to the back burner until Berlusconi leaves, and I start devoting my passion towards Harry Redknapps TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR!

I have alot of passion aimed at Harry Redknapp and while he's in charge I hope his Tottingham Lolspurs fail miserably. I don't think I hate anything on Earth more than that 'person'.

We don't just need a Pirlo replacement, we need a Pirlo heir. Someone is going to have to take his position sooner rather than later it seems and I'd like to see them bring in a young guy to learn from the master for a season or two.

I completely agree with vnata and to answer the pirlo heir thing...i think hernanes would be perfect for that role. he could either replace pirlo eventually or seedorf right now

We've commited TOO much money on 30+ players to be competitive :Kaladzhe, favalli, zambrotta, jankulovski, nesta, oddo, abbiatti, dida, roma, ambro, beckham, rino, pirlo, seedorf, mancini, pippo, are pretty much all making 2m+ (i'm guessing and for the talent mentioned that is revolting.

I mostly agree with you on the money for pensioners plan, mtl. But I'll make an exception for Nesta and Pirlo. Those two, I think, are worth it.

I don't think Favster's making 2mln/year. Maybe 1mln. Gazzetta's wage thingy was posted somewhere on here.

this squad would compete (wiith little changes)

boriello - Hunter

Ronaldinho............................Pato

Rakitic*-flamini

Kolarov - Thiago silva - Zapata - Antonini

Viviano

rakitic would be pushing it, being as we could live with pirlo another year, but with a repaired backline we don't look so bad

nesta is a part time player and with thiago showing us why his stint at porto didn't last too long (injuries), can't be counted on 25+ games a year, We need deph, and it's sad to say but we need a #1 Cb because the dropoff from nesta/thiago to favalli and kaladzhe is enormous (i' not mentioning Bonera...he's dead to me)

That's ALOT of money into SOOO little current talent

Again, I agree with you, mtl. We need a top rate cb. I'd love Bonucci but don't think we're likely to get him. I'd reall love Chiellini but...

There was talk today in tuttomercatoweb about Stuttgart's Serdar Tasci again today. He'd be an option.

Zapata...I liked him last year but Udine's been almost as leaky as Juve this year.

most of the goals conceded our because of their FBs M. Motta left the RB position wide open and Lukovic is USELESS at LB. their CBs are actually very good, enough so that they sent Felipe To florence on loan.

Hrm. And Motta has hardly played at Roma (what do folks think about him?).

That said, I agree. We need fullbacks (or at the very least a good RB; I rather like Antonini), a GOOD centerback, a regista and maybe another attacker.

Wonder if we're likely to get any of those.

I love Marco motta, and for the life of me don't understand why Ranieri dosn't feature him more. He was IMO Serie A's most complet RB (better defensively then Maicon) last year. Then again i'm bias, i love Udinese and watch alot of their games, it's a tribute to the teams structure that they have been able to keep such a squad of great players with barely any demanding to leave i mean look at their lineup last year that pretty much got off to the best start in serie A in the bigining: Felipe, Quagliarella*, Motta*, Zapata, asamoah, D'agostinio Di natale, Isla(so versatile), Sanchez, Inler, HANDANOVIC!!!!! (forza slovenja). They are so good at recruiting youth players too. The problem is the coaches havn't been able to find a a way to make all the talent work together, much like ciro failed to do in Juve
