QUOTE (kurtsimonw @ Aug 24 2009, 10:11 PM) Injuries don't mean you're a bad player. What about the other half of his time at Milan when he was fit and on the bench?

Something else, just for thought, what does being on the bench prove anyway? If I became manager of Milan and started Borriello every week, but left Pato on the bench, does this mean Borriello is better than Pato?

But clearly winning the CL twice and Serie A plus more international trophies does not make Carlo that stupid. He became delusional at the end of his run as coach, his last 3 seasons were a disgrace, coincidentally it was the season that Ambro became a regular in the team... And I'll dig up the stats, but clearly he's made far less appearances then Rino while being at the club for much longer, surely he wasn't injured for 8 years straight

QUOTE (kurtsimonw @ Aug 24 2009, 10:28 PM) No, I made a comment that Ambro could have been useful in the Final. Somebody said he didn't even really help us get there in the run up. The irony being he actually scored the goal that got us to the final. Yes well, I'm sure the 2 Sheva and Thomasson scored at the San Siro didn't contribute anything.... And come on if you really believe that Ambro would have made the slightest of differences in Istanbul, then you clearly don't remember the melt down of massive proportions that occured in that game. The entire team switched off Cafu, Stam, Nesta, Pirlo, Maldini, Gattuso, all switched off and sh!t happened. Ambro certainly didn't help in preventing PSV humiliating us in the semis, yes he scored the goal at the end of the match, but it was another game in which the entire team switched off, a common occurance under Carlo, Deportivo, PSV, Liverpool. All matches tha should have been easy and we managed to screw up

QUOTE (kurtsimonw @ Aug 24 2009, 10:30 PM) There we go then. I personally don't, nor ever have, rate Carlo that highly. He's the one that's been picking Rino over Gattuso for most of his time here. Makes sense. Well obviously he's going to pick Rino over Gattuso he's the passion inside the player aka Gattuso. (IMG: style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) And you didn't take into account my entire post where I said he wasn't that stupid as he has the silverware to back him up. He became stupid around 3 seasons ago, when we became the train wreck team, that's when Ambro started being a regular again btw...

Who let Gerrard run free into the area for his header to make it 3-1? Who fouled Gerrard for the equaliser? Whether it was a dive or not is irrelevent, Rino let Gerrard get in front of him, directly in on goal. He wasn't the only player at fault, but he can be blamed for 2 goals for sure.

It's fact, but I'll debate it. 9 years with Juve and Milan, 1 title. This is a disgrace, I could at least equal that. He has 2 CL titles. But when you've completely given up and rest players in league games AND arguably have the best player in the World, it makes it much easier to do so. The 2003 CL win is credible. Athens, while a great win, has the gloss taken off it due to our shambles in the league.

He wasn't the only player at fault, but he can be blamed for 2 goals for sure. The dive is relevant as the penalty shouldn't have been given in the first place and Gattuso wasn't the one that was marking him IIRC, still that header went in because of Dida's howler, same goes for Smicer's goal. Maybe the coaching spot will open next season at Inter after Mourinho departs... I agree that the 03 CL was more Kaka dragging the team on but its still there. And its funny that you credit the 03 CL but not the 07 one, seeing as Ambro was a regular in the 07 win but barely got a look in in the 03 win (IMG: style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)
