QUOTE A report in The Sun this morning claims "Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is in talks with Stuttgart midfielder Thomas Hitzlsperger. The Gunners manager wants to add experience to his side and the former Aston Villa star fits the bill."
The 27-year-old left-footed midfielder can play left back, on the left hand side of midfield and also in central midfield. His contract at Stuttgart finishes at the end of the 2009/2010 season and The Sun claim he could move for around five million pounds.
Aston Villa bought Hitzlsperger from Bayern Munich in 2000/2001, he returned to the Bundesliga with Stuttgart at the beginning of 2005/2006. Last season he played 42 games in the Bundesliga and UEFA Cup, scoring seven goals and providing six assists.
Thomas Hitzlsperger has also established himself as a regular in the German national team, making 47 appearances and scoring six goals.
IMScouting’s network of scouts in Germany describe Hitzlsperger as "very technically skilled and famous for his left foot, which is nicknamed 'the hammer,' which he earned thanks to his thunderous shooting."
Crucially, Hitzlsperger speaks English following his time at Villa and he could be a useful addition to the Arsenal midfield. (IMG: style_emoticons/default/blink.gif) He was good for A Villa side that finished around mid-table.. but he isn't good enough for us now, but Arsenal? I think they're trying everything they can to not finish top 4 by the sounds of it. They need a DM, desperately, but Wenger is insistant on bringing small midfielders.. why?

For the record..I'm supporting Chelsea and Hull City this season.
I'll be looking out for Arsenal, Spurs, Man City. Perdition to the rest.

QUOTE (kurtsimonw @ Jun 17 2009, 02:54 PM) Stop team switching!
W*st B*om vs Newcastle is an opening day fixture for the Championship, what a horrible game.. can't they both lose? Shame on you. I didn't switch teams. This is the Premier League thread. The Glorious Nation of Newcastle have decided to brighten up the Championship with our presence. But we be back! (IMG: style_emoticons/default/devil.gif)

He means that in the words of Jose Mourinho... "You're a voyeur". More interested in seeing other teams down..than yours up. (IMG: style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif)

QUOTE (kurtsimonw @ Jun 17 2009, 12:51 PM) Pfft. I'm happy to see a certain few teams down (and even better when we're the ones to put them down *cough* Newcastle! *cough*), but nothing is more importantthan Villa doing well. Without hatred, you can not know love. That's why I hate you and love you at the same time!! (IMG: style_emoticons/default/wub.gif)
