Rino Gattuso has been named ambassador for the Calabria region of Italy. He's already doing publicity ads promoting tourism (+1 cookie to the first person who can get a picture of his face on a London cab) and doing charity work on behalf of the region. Calabria is where he was born and it's one of the poorest parts of the country. Here's what he said relating to Milan at the press conference today (from acmilan.com's italian page): QUOTE Kakà? The polemics about his injury started with Dunga, not Kaka. I know players from other teams who choose to come to Milan for rehab and that says everything. The daily injury notices are read by Adriano Galliani every day and he is very precise and very much present and there aren't problems. The only problem regarding Kaka was the timing, as the notices said he'd return in 15 days but after, as happens sometime,s the pain didn't disappear in the predicted time. Mourinho? I don't want to get into an argument either with him or anyone else, but close your eyes for a moment and try to imagine what it signifies to have gone through 5 CL finals: 2 as a player and 3 as a coach. Senderos? He's a good guy and I'm happy he was decisive even if I think the goal will be attributed to Ronaldinho. He too has been out for a long time this season. During the course of the year, we've had 7 long-term injuries. Every section has suffered this situation, but there should be some reinforcements in defense.]

QUOTE WELCOME BACK RINO!5/12/2009 10:59:00 PM5 months after the knee operation, Gattuso was back on the pitch for 45 minutes in Tirana. At the end of the match, Rino admitted he was a bit emotional. - HIS DECLARATIONS -(IMG: http://media2.acmilan.com/200905/13961_news.jpg) (ON THE PHOTO: GATTUSO ON THE PITCH IN ALBANIA-MILAN 7-8) TIRANA - Before getting on the plane to return from Tirana, Rino Gattuso talked at the end of the friendly Albania-Milan (7-8 after penalties) in which the Rossonero midfielder came back on the pitch for 45 minutes five months after his knee operation. Rino, how did it go?"Well, tonight I was also a bit emotional because going back on the pitch after almost five months you're always scared of getting hurt again, but after a few minutes I regained confidence and it went well." Are you ready for the league?"I think I'm not ready to play 90 minutes, but this was an important test for me, I have regained courage. The league is a different thing. I am available to the team and if I can give my contribution I'll be happy, but I'm still lacking match rhythm." President Berlusconi's declaration on Ancelotti?"We've talked about it, but we haven't understood whether the president actually said those things because we didn't hear the interview. Even if he said that, however, those are things that concern the club, our Delegate Administrator and the coach. What I know is that Ancelotti is well seen, he wants to stay and we want him to stay. What the president says is the law, no one can say anything, but our season has been conditioned by the many injuries that involved important players for us. I think Inter deserved the Scudetto and we have to give them compliments. When I wanted to leave, Adriano Galliani, but also Ancelotti, locked me in Milan's trophy room and convinced me to stay. Now, if necessary, I will lock up Ancelotti... I don't count much, but for us Ancelotti will stay here." On Beckham and Maldini:"I spent five months in which I talked a lot with Beckham, I appreciated his professionalism and commitment to the shirt very much. Everytime I see him I see a person who loves his work. Until five months ago I didn't believe it, it was a great surprise and I am happy to have known him. In these five months I didn't think about my position on the pitch because this knee bothered me a lot and didn't allow me to think about it. It's the same now: there are a lot of players who are doing better me and it's right that they play. At the moment I can only give a small contribution to the team and if I do get the chance to play I will give my maximum. In these months I never thought about my place because when I'm back I'll be the one of before who wants to battle, but I always thought about the good of Milan and reaching the Champions League. With Paolo I can no longer insist that he not quit, he is the captain, there is a lot of respect. This season he seems like a 30-year-old, each game he fights on every ball, but if he took this decision it's only right."

QUOTE (Locke Lamora @ May 24 2009, 08:44 AM) If this turns out to be true, I really feel for Ambrosini. He's been royally fu*ked over and back again. +1, but yes, if a coach like van Basten arrives, we could expect to see Rino as the only DM.
