Agree with you Jack, a midfield with Pirlo, Becks and Yoann would be over run. I think the best posiible solution would be to either revert to a 4-2-3-1 formation or use our old 4-3-2-1/4-3-1-2 and play Yoann next to Pirlo and Rino/Flamini next season. But atm I'm more worried about losing him more then anything else. Let's just wait and see what happens. Hopefully if he does decide to return, Carlo won't shut him out again. I think the best possible formation we could hope for next season would be this Flamini--Nesta/WC CB--Silva/Bonera--Zambro Yoann--Pirlo--Rino Kaka Pato--Dinho/WC target man I think this would be the right mix of youth and experiance. The worst possible scenario's my mind is conjuring up for our regular line-up next season should Carlo stay Zambro--Bonera--Silva--Janku Becks--Pirlo--Rino Kaka--Seedorf Pippo/Pato

In Miz's words; Becks... Schmecks! He should not be a starter for Milan.
Rino - Pirlo - Ambro (or Flam in place of one of the two) -----Yoann----- -------------Kaka Pato----------
when we need 2 dmf's and
Rino - Pirlo Yoann - Kaka Pato------- -------Borry
when we want to play some football.
Also in my view Pirlo's role has to be reinvented. His job is now predictable as it has not changed and his effect is being limited. Had it not been for his brilliant skills that some times allow him to escape from the cage the opposition midfield close him in he would be a faulty cog.

I believe the expression for this is 'to damn with faint praise'? Miz? I actually rate Pirlo higher than Xavi. Xavi's runs into the box are probably the only area where he's better, but Pirlo's vision and long passing trumps.

Pirlo up till the end of the World Cup, yes probably. but the post World Cup Pirlo, I'm not sure. Maybe it's the luxury of playing in the better team that makes Xavi (and Iniesta) look so great, like the two best midfielders in the world. but then again, the same can be said about the pre-2007 Pirlo. And I can't see how Xavi's vision and long balls can get any better. it's somewhere near perfect at the moment.

I'm talking about Pirlo now, I love the guy and I see him asphyxiate the way he's forced to play in Milan. I think he would be great at the right side, I remember one game when he had to play on the (left) flank he looked shiny new!

It was the same position but he had great covering by the two players next to him so he had more freedom to roam up front.

Yeah...well position was an unfortunate choice of words...what I meant is he's too withdrawn. I hardly see him upfront... (IMG: style_emoticons/default/sad.gif)

Carlo's asked Andy to take one for the team..and Andy has. (IMG: style_emoticons/default/sleep.gif) . With the state of our defence , we don't stand much chance against a counter attack involving opposing forwards vs. our defence. We desperately need mid-field protection.

Rino, Ambro and Flam are our midfield protection. The only reason why Pirlo plays so deep is because Ancelotti is afraid of even his own shadow and because he clearly has no clue - or maybe no desire - how to use him in a different way.

(IMG: style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) ... You make it sound like all the members on the forum have built a moat around the San Siro against Gourcuff entering Milan again. If Gourcuff wants, he can come back to Milan. If he doesn't want to,we can't make him. This is the only negative with the contract we signed when we loaned him out to Bordeaux. We can't force him to come back, and then make him like us. Now the problem will be the demands he makes and how much we are willing to give him.
