QUOTE (Bluesummers @ Mar 2 2009, 06:46 PM) Yes you got it right. I was also talking about milan's brazillians. If we signed fernando torres and messi then yes brazillians wouldn't make the difference. But right now our best players are brazillians and they are the players who make the difference. Thats what i was trying to say. My honest opinion is that Rino Gattuso makes all the difference in the world. My honest opinion is that a Nesta-Maldini defense would work like a swiss clockwork, while Shitteros and Kaladzity combined made us look second-class at highest. I do think that Andrea Pirlo gives us the unique passing many Serie A teams, including Inter dream of and search on the transfer market for years. And my true opinion is that in Paolo Maldini Milan has found not just the squad Captain for all times, but also the symbol of football beyond just red and black. And after all this said I find it very hard to agree with word like "brazilians make the difference". "Brazilians", meaning IMO Pato and Kaka are unique and essential. Do they make a difference? Honestly, the perfect Milan XI is the difference.

Honestly, the perfect Milan XI is the difference. I agree with you partly. At one point in time those players you have mentioned were at the top of the world and yes brazillians were not needed. Maldini/nesta partenrship is way too slow and old. At one point, they were the best by far. Gattuso is 31 and yes he is still solid but there are better DM than him. De rossi who is italian is one of the best in the world and he would make a huge difference on our team. Pirlo just isn't the same with his passing game. He is still an excellent passer, but personally he's past his best. The statement about Maldini is true. I agree on the perfect milan XI as well but i'm talking about the milan of 2009. Was I complaning when we could compete with manchester united with our team? The only players until this season i've truly disliked and insulted were gilardino/seedorf/dida. I felt those players were often times useless and did not desreve to be at milan. But 2009, without kaka we look like a mid table team. Without pato our attack looks slow and useless.

QUOTE (whoarethepatriots @ Mar 2 2009, 08:46 PM) You think Pirlo is past his best?
I guess Pato at 19 is hitting his peak years then, and Eto'o is surely on the decline too No, I don't think he's past his best. I don't think Albertini did too - just that something very curious happened to him and he simply "stopped". Cannot explain it. I somehow fear a similar thing is happening with Andy.

QUOTE (I_Rossoneri @ Mar 2 2009, 09:54 PM) IMO the only trouble with Pirlo is his position. While playing for Lippi Pirlo was outstanding, but the tactical mastermind that is carlo plays him too deep and defensive. Pirlo is a creator not a defender. Don't think it's up to Carlo. Pirlo IMO did better played deeper then as AM at Brescia partially and Inter.
